  • Sims 3 - Installing Custom Content
You appear to not have read our great guides to downloading and installing custom content for Sims 3.

Game_Help:TS3_Custom_Contentwiki This link contains everything you've ever wanted to know about installing .package and sims3packs.

Perhaps you could provide a little more information about the issue such as:
What games do you have and what patch level are each of them at?
Where are you trying to place the .package files?
Have you read the guide above for installing custom content?

I have read the TS3 CC guide a lot of times trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I have TS3 patch level = 1.14.11 and WA patch level = 2.9.10
Did what the guide told me to do, documents/EA/The sims 3/ and made the Mods file
then downloaded resource.cfg and placed in it in the Mod file and then made the Packages folder
I am placing the .package files in the Package folder

Take a screenshot of:
  • Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
  • Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\
  • Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
... and attach them to a post on this thread? Click Go Advanced and then Manage Attachments.

Make sure you set your folder view to Details mode and expand out the Name and Type columns so they're fully readable.

Open your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\resource.cfg file in Notepad and copy-paste its contents here.

Right-click on Resource.cfg and check Properties. Is the file name Resource.cfg or Resource.cfg.txt or something else?

Resource.cfg is the name of the file

I hate to tell yah Mod, the "great guidelines" as you so call them are not so. I myself have looked over those 3-4 times in the past few days and did everything exactly how I was told and still the only packs I am able to install are one or two homes, no CC Sims..and yeah.. I read the CC section as well unless a file comes packed to install into the loader. But I'm afraid to ask, which I shouldn't be.. in such a "helpful site".
There are so many new rules in the Sims3 where as Sims2 you just threw it all in one folder and you were all right.
Plus I get a little irritated when people have looked all over this massive site that seriously needs to be reorganized and read everything they can but yet they get patronized ( all be it kindly ) for asking for a little help. Other members don't seem to mind helping and usually are more helpful then mods.

Just trying to be helpful

It's your Resource.cfg - you're not using the one linked on the FAQ so it's looking in the wrong place.

http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php...Setup_and_Files - scroll down to "Step 2: Resource.cfg" and download it and replace your current one with that one. That should make it work.

And then, can you try it with a test mod - my no build sparkles or Rick's no intro?
