Default Tutorial to extract lots in simpe
I have a lot that just won't load. It refuses to do anything but crash any time I go to package it, enter it or move it. I need to extract this lot and put it in another game (I've done this before, as it's from my old 2007 game, and it has sims living in it) so I can package it for storage before I reformat.

Does a tutorial exist on how to do this or am I just missing something?

Do you need to extract it with the sims included, or do you want an unoccupied lot?

It doesn't matter as long as it's still furnished. It was something I held dear to my heart for a long time because it was a recreation of one of my first lots.

You can just copy the lot into your LotCatalog folder and then rename it to match the naming convention in that folder. It will appear in the Lot Bin in your game.

When you add it to your game, edit the lot, make a build change, and then save it before you move another family in. This should clear out the old family's information.

Okay, thank you. I'll try that right now.

EDIT: Wait, where do I find the lot to copy it over?

Oops, sorry about missing that important piece of information.

First, backup your entire save game.

Open the neighborhood in SimPE.
Select Lot Descriptions in the left pane
Select your lot in the right pane.
At the far right, you'll see the lot instance number as both hex and decimal. Your lot will be <neighborhood prefix>_Lot<decimal lot number>.package.

You should be aware that your lot may be corrupt. If so, placing the lot into the lot bin may not fix that corruption. I would suggest placing the lot into a test neighborhood first, to see whether it works correctly, before placing it into a neighborhood that you care about.

Thank you! Yes, I intend on using my test/going the way of the fireball 'hood for this. Copying and pasting your info into Wordpad in case I need to use it again. Thanks!~

EDIT: Yep, just as I thought, the lot was corrupted. Sigh, time to crack open the old videos and reconstruct from scratch. :P
