Sims 3 Pets Question
I just bought the Sims 3 after I tried out the Sims 3 Pets make your own pet demo and really loved the puppy and kitten I created. I'm itching to start my sim, but then a worrying question popped up:

If I were to start playing now before Pets comes out, will my save game become obsolete or have any errors when I install Pets later? Or will my save game be able to adjust to the new changes from the expansion?

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer.

Your save game will be just fine. Don't worry, it should adapt well to any expansion pack you install. Be sure to remove any mods you have (cut and paste them to the desktop is my preferred method) and back up your save files before installing an expansion, just to be safe. The FAQs in the Help section of this site will guide you though the process, but it should go smoothly.

Welcome to simming and beware, it's addictive fun.

You will be able to play with pets in the town your in, but i don't think you'll be able to switch your sims life to the new town that comes with pets. You can start the sim again in the new pets town, but you'll lose everything you've worked on! So, if your fine living in the town you have now, go for it! but if you want to live in the new town I'd wait. Just a thought

Has anyone downloaded the pet demo, and then had their game crash? I can't pull up my game launcher anymore.

Default Problems with Pets
Hi.
When I launch the pets demo, it still gives me the Generations screen and there is no option for creating a pet.
What can I do?
Please help.

You can save your sims with their lot to the bin and move it to Appaloosa Plains. If you want to move more than one household, you can use Twallan's Porter mod to move them all together and retain their relationships with each other. So yeah, you can move sims

For that matter, Twallan now has a "Traveler" mod which lets sims visit other worlds as vacation destinations... so you can send your Bridgeport sims on vacation to Appaloosa Plains... or vice versa :D

First, try removing all your mods... rename the folder and/or drag it to the desktop while you play with the demo. Don't forget to put them back when you go back to your regular Sims game.

THen try uninstalling and reinstalling the CAP demo. Make sure you launch the game from the CAP icon, not your normal Sims icon.

THe demo (unmodded) is a standalone game... it will open directly into the Create A Pet screen. You can't access it from within the regular Sims game, and you can save your pets but you can't play them in a world (unless you hack it as described in some of the other threads here).

Yep, that is my intended test once I have Traveler rebuilt for the Pets Patch.

How kind of EA to provide a town full of animals for testing purposes.

@Smivenbiven:
It might be your mods. Try moving them to a backup folder and see what happens. You can remove your CC too if you want, but it's usually the game mods. Good luck!
I've heard a lot of people complaining about the same thing, though my Create-A-Pet demo works fine with my game. I popped out all the mods and saves the first time I played it, just in case, and then I returned them in their folder when I played TS3. Both work like a charm. Well, ... at least no NEW problems. x)
