This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures
Default Service initialization failed (0x039e8474)
hello? I dont know if this is a computer problem or a game problem but i recently got Sims 3 world adventures. After i dowloaded it, the program wouldn't open. it opens the sims 3 launcher, but when i press the play button this happens:
black screen (like it would open in a second)
loading cursor
*bing!*
then it just stops.
I pressed the home key to see what happened and there was an error box that said:
Service initialization failed (0x039e8474)

I have no idea what to do!
if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it!

other details:
i only have sims 3 and world adventures installed
i uninstalled world adventures and sims 3 still doesnt work.
i have a windows 7 laptop
i tried troubleshooting but nothing worked

Fair warning: next misplaced thread gets locked instead of moved. Computer Tech is not for Sims-related issues as the Announcement states. And this is a Sims-related issue as it is not affecting the whole PC, only when you run Sims, correct?

Downloaded World Adventures? From where?
Does that same error occur if you don't use Launcher? Game Help:TS3 Bypassing the Launcherwiki
And what is your base game version?
Are drivers updated?

um i got the CD for my birthday
my main is Sims3
i'll try bypassing launcher

and it started happening with the 2.3 update and i updated it recently to the 2.9 but it still doesnt work

ok so i tried bypassing the launcher but i couldn't find a majority of the folders. i got to the sims3 folder but there was no "GAME" folder inside. so i don't think i can do that

You really, really need to go and read the Site Rules under the Site menu!
Please use Edit to modify posts if no one else has responded. 2nd warning...I might need to start using the Warning Points system if this continues, but I'm trying to be lenient here as you're new and all.

You cannot find the Game\Bin folder?
Right click on the base game Sims 3 icon shortcut on the Desktop, then on "Shortcut" tab, click on the "Open File Location" button. Is the TS3W.exe there now?

You may need to turn on some settings as the extension ".exe" may be hidden, or change to Details View. Game_Help:DFDD3_Identify_File_Type#How_do_I_find_out_a_file.27s_type.3Fwiki

And, finally, yes - SEARCH! Always a good idea, in most cases answers are already posted in Archives or other open threads.
