Default Extracting items from store world to be used in building my own world ..
I know it can be done, as the items from Riverview were extracted for use in CAW, and items from Twinbrook, Bridgeport and Apaloosa Plains have been extracted as well.

I would like to extract the Crystaline rocks from Lunar Lakes to use in a world I am building (yes, I know only people who own Lunar Lakes will be able to use the world)

Can someone please point me to the correct tutorial that shows how to do this?

Thanks.

God Bless,
mik

I pulled some stuff from Barnacle Bay. I had to have S3OC open the .world file to do it. I got the Buccaneer Bridge and Salty Sea Walls that way. You can try that.

Simsample explains it best here in Post 148:

I don't know how to link you directly to that post, sorry. Good luck!

I don't know if there is some secret here or not, but how does one open a .world file in S3OC? I would like to "liberate" some of the items in Lunar Lakes. In particular, I have my eye on the new rabbitholes. As a general rule, they are more compact than the original rabbitholes, making them good candidates to play with.

Just rename the file to .package and it should open.

Thanks. I'll keep that one under my hat.

Before you responded, I did manage to extract the spa rabbithole.

First, I found the Lunar Lakes Sims3Pack under downloads.

Second, I used Delphi's multi extractor to extract the package files.

Third, I ran it through a program I probably am not allowed to identify here. (By the way, I bought Lunar Lakes, and extracting this file for my own use is fair use under existing copyright law.)

Fourth, I used S3OC to make a clone. This program brought all the needed resources together for me.

Fifth, I loaded it into TSR Workshop through the backdoor. It does not load right if you try loading it through the "front door."

In any case, I loaded the package, and when Workshop complained, I just hit continue, knowing that it would not load right. Then I took advantage of the S3PE plugin, deleted all of the resource files in the project contents screen, then loaded my cloned package via the S3PE plugin. (Yes, you can run S3PE through Workshop.)

At this point, the mesh and textures loaded in to Workshop. I can now fiddle with the meshes. Personally, I find it easier to work with the .wso format -- primarily because I taught myself using this format. I can use the geom format in a pinch, but find it a bigger pain in the hindquarters.

I have not experimented with this and I don't know if I will end up with a functional rabbithole clone, but at least it is a start.

Am I the only one that has all the LL rabbit holes already accessible in community lot build mode without resorting to modding?

Since I enabled all the hidden features of CAW, I also have access to every rabbit hole in CAW to place on the world layers - including the LL ones.

I will try the renaming trick later this week to get the pipes and the crystal rocks. Annoys the snot out of me that they show as accessible, but they are no where in any of the menus in either CAW or Edit In Game.

No, I have the LL rabbitholes in community build too.

Mik, could you try these out to see if they work? I know you were after some of these!

And now I succeeded in uploading also, apparently the limit was just 2MB for a day - The distant terrain is a rather big file but I didnt want to compress it more as people maybe want to recolor, and such.

Ok, they are showing up in CAW, but not in game. I put them in my mods folder, I have Lunar Lakes installed. I assume the items need to be cloned as their own separate mods to show up in game.

Hmm, they do show up in my game. Odd. You mean you placed them and they don't show, or they dont show up in catalog?

They don't show anywhere in game. I'll try again and see - as I put them in mods after I had loaded to main menu.

Put them in packages-folder, like any custom content.

Ok the 4 crystals i placed in CAW are showing up where I put them now. But only the largest crystal rock is showing up (the one that looks like it's merged with a boulder in Edit Neighborhood. Nothing else is showing up in any of the catalogs in game.
