I installed Supernatural today, created a witch, but when I go to the Alchemy Table, she looks through the book and the Sims green diamond stays above her head, no skill bar...

She can't gain any skill from the table... help ?

Is this not happening to anyone else then?

Buttttt, a friend suggested deleting the cache files and remove the mods/packages folder.

I did both, but the packages and mods are still showing up, even after deleting the packages....

What happened at each step of the above? :)

Step 1: Delete Cache Files - nothing happened
Step 2: Remove Custom Content - nothing happened, content still in game
Step 3: Rename User Files - that worked.... but i have nothing from my old games

Did you ever install CC in the "old way"? Game Help:Installing Sims 3 Package Files/Old Way to New Way^wiki
Have you also removed files from the VirtualStore path, if it exists?

Actually... I do -NOT- think this is a mod/hack thing 'cause I'm suffering from the same thing.
My problem is that my Sim wont learn from the alchemy table either (skill bar wont move, no plusses pop up) + every time I click "mix" he sorts of resets himself and his whole action que is wiped.

I had no mods whatsoever, no custom content. Only the main game + all expansion packs.

So I've tried all the things in the "Sims 3 Game Problem"-thingies... nothing works.
I've tried the resetSim-cheat, does not work.
I've tried exporting/importing the family, does not work.
I've tried changing active household and hopping back after a while, does not work.

Then someone said; "Who not get the Nraas Master Controller?"

I did and tried Reset Sim, Reset Lot and a heckload of others.


Still same problem, the dude wont learn alchemy anymore (he's on level 9 so it worked before) and refuses to make potions.
Add to that - all other members of the family can use the table just fine.

Do you have any special seeds in your inventory (or any others for that matter). If so, remove them and your sims should be able to learn again.

That worked! I had 3 'special seeds' in my inventory. Placed them on the ground and voila!

That's one darn annoying bug indeed. Thanks for helping out.
By the way, did I tell you that I love you?

The steps still need to be done, right?
Only when we have ruled out cc, and looked at Inventory for Special Seeds, then we can work down the next possible cause...like a flowchart.

Plus the OP had persistent CC than still remained that needed to be nuked.
