Default Sims 3 ~ Windows 8.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I'm getting a new laptop for christmas - but it's windows 8.
It has an intel processor, graphics card and 6gb of ram.

Will it run fully on windows 8 with the latest patch and most of the expansions?

I see mixed reviews, but some of them are old and relating to the consumer preview.

So, will The Sims 3 run normally on Windows 8?

I've installed Windows 8 Pro 32 bit on my desktop, and I've faced absolutely no issues. BUT, I got a tearing issue which I found out that my GPU software hadn't been installed properly on my system and solved it.
Also, Simgurugraham has also tweeted that Sims 3's fully compatible on Windows 8 with the latest patch.

Sims 1 works fine on Win 8 so Sims 3 has no issues
But be sure 1st you install Net Framework 3 (via add/remove Windows features thingy ) and DX9 (it this order)

I got a brand new computer during pre-black Friday sales. The only issue I had was that I didn't pay attention and it had a built in chip for the graphics rather than an actual graphics card. I put a card in it though and it's been working great since then. I don't run it in compatibility mode or anything. Windows 8 hasn't broken it yet.

It also works on Win 8 pro 64 bit, but I have base and seasons on it at the moment until I get a new HDD because of not that much room!

Depends on CPU you have if Core i5 or i7 ,3rd generation , integrated Intel chipset very nice for basic games similar to Sims.
But you have a slot for GPU on motherboard anyways so insert something BIG if you desire

Regardless of the processor type, integrated Intel graphics does not run TS3 well, if at all. Maybe for basic games other than the Sims, but not for the Sims.

An Intel 4000 chipset might be alright for the basegame with no patches. You have to remember though, that with EPs and patches, the system requirements on the box bear absolutely no relation to reality.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

I went with the Nvidia GE Force GT 640 for now. After having played on a laptop for 2 years to actually having a GPU and a 22in hd monitor, my head almost exploded from the excitement. It was like the first time I wore contacts.
