View Full Version : No Neighborhood View
30th Nov 2005, 10:09 PM
I searched before asking but didn't see this topic :o)
I have read in other posts about the feature where your Sim can see neighboring lots. I found the option Neighborhood View, it is set to "off" so I clicked "on" but it won't change, the radio button will only stay on "off". Is this the right option I'm trying to change, and if so, any suggestions why it won't?
I have a new computer with updated everything and have all EP's.
Thanks so much for any help.

I have the same problem, it appears to be related to the graphics card. I suggest you create a userstartup.cheat file with the codes to set the values to how you want.
Excerpt from this tutorial (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=96130) by Bairy:
Make sure the game isn't running.
Use Notepad (don't use Wordpad) to create a plain text file in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config called "userstartup.cheat" (if the file exists, use Notepad to edit it).
Paste your commands at the top, an example set is below:
uintProp lotSkirtSizeIncrease 9
boolProp enableLotImpostersInLot true
boolProp enableNeighborhoodOccupantsInLot false
boolProp clickableLotImposters true
uintProp neighborhoodPropFadeDistance 25
(That sets the view size to 'medium', neighbours to 'on', trees + other decorations to 'off', clickable neighbors to 'on', and the prop fade distance to default.)
Save the file.
I have found this the only way to set these values; I cannot toggle the values in game using the buttons, and if I type in the commands into the cheat box, they get reset when I exit the game.

Thank you so much for this! I'm very grateful for your help. I was getting pea green with envy that I couldn't see what other players were seeing LOL
