View Full Version : Sim not moving and clock not changing after installing custom career

Hey guys! I made a custom career and was anxious to try it out. unfortunately, when I put it in my game, the Sims will not move anywhere on the lot. They just stand there - and the clock does not move. At one house it says 8am, and at another, it says 11:43am. The diamond plumbob is spinning, and I can click on objects, but the Sim will not move. If I take the career out, everything is fine. What am I doing wrong? I can almost swear that I changed the GUID and group ID for the career.

Help!!!

Post it here and I'll take a look at it later today :)

If your game appears to entirely freeze the moment the object is created, this is caused by an error in the main or init routines. Since an error, by default, causes an object to reset itself, re-launching the init and main routines, an error in these routines will cause an endless cycle of repeating errors that will basically stop time in your game. You can get more details about the error by turning the debug mode on, and when the error dialog appears asking how you wish to deal with it, choose "DELETE" to delete the offending object instance from your lot.

Be warned that it will respawn itself everytime you enter the lot. You basically have to remove the offending custom career from your downloads.

Ok, I attempted ro change the GUID and Group ID again according to the downloadable tutorial, and now the game just stays on the LOADING [family name here] screen, and the cursor swirls from hourglass to arrow - forever! O_o

Sonuva!

I had a look over the file- what Pescado said may be true, but the file itself was missing a couple of crucial files. I've sorted it out, so hopefully it should work now :)

you are AWESOME! Thanks!

Which files were missing? I'd love to make more custom careers, but I'm not sure which part I missed.

D'oh!
