Rug Recolors for maxis made rugs

I am interested in recreating rugs that have been made by others but using the rug templates or meshes whatever they might be called. I dont plan on putting them up anywhere I dont even know if it is possible. but I am sick of always having to search high and low to find rugs others have made now that maxis has made rugs finally so that there is a catagory for them. Did any of that make sense? I am never to sure.

How easily it can be done depends on how the rugs are uv-mapped, meaning how to texture is laid out on the mesh. Transferring a texture from one rug to another may not work very easily if they are mapped differently. Take a look at the tutorial section under this forum and read Numenor's object recoloring tutorial, that should get you started on recoloring in general.
