View Full Version : Delete Maxis Objects

I have no idea if this is possible but could you put in the trashcan to delete original maxis objects, like is available for downloads into the game? OR could you delete the files manually from outside the game?
I know there are hacks to hide items out there but I am looking to get rid of them? Would this lessen the start time of the game or increase the speed of game play?

Maxis objects are part of large package files and as such, can only be hidden, cannot be deleted by the user (nor would doing so be advisable for several technical reasons).
Maxis objects have relatively low impact on gameplay and loading times - notice what happens if you remove your entire Downloads and SavedSims folder and try running the game without any custom content. Your custom objects have MUCH more impact on performance than Maxis objects. Cut down on your custom content, get rid of everything you can't live without, and your performance will improve.

Sorry, if this does not belongs in this thread, but maybe you can help me. I've got the opposite request. Unfortunately (I don't know how it was possible). I deleted Maxis Restaurant-Stove / the professional cooker in the game. I wanted to delete a recolor and instead of that the object was deleted. Is there a possibility to bring back this item? Even my other restaurants in OFB are affected. The professional stove has disappeared. Have you any suggestions? Please help! I don't want to reinstall my game completely, I've got accostumed to my Sims-families.
Sorry, for my bad spelling.

You can't have deleted a Maxis object from within the game - deleting recolours of Maxis objects shouldn't remove the original object. It is *technically* possible to delete objects from within the package files, but you would've had to go in with SimPE to do that, and have known what you were doing enough to find the applicable resources inside the packages and delete them.
Try cutting and pasting your Downloads folder to your desktop and trying again - it's possible something's overriding it or otherwise conflicting that's causing it to not show up.
All things considered, I'm thinking this thread would probably be better in Game Help than requests. Moving!

Thank you for your quick answer! I know that normally you can't remove Maxis objects that's why I was wondering. It's weird that the stove was replaced by an other range (for family use) as so if the object was really deleted. I don't have SimPe installed, after I had some problems with the earlier versions when I played only the basic game. I think that actually the "moveobjects-cheat" was active, but it should not have this effect. But I will try out your suggestion, thanks again. Sorry, for posting in the wrong place.
