View Full Version : Transparency Issues with Hair Mesh

I have been through the tutorials and I have not had this problem before. The ponytail is bleeding through the head.
I checked the bone assignments and all are assigned to "head" except for four verticies at the bottom of the neck weighted 50 neck and 50 head. All others are weighted 100% to the head.

I checked the transparency on SimPe, and the transparacy for my hairalpha_3 is 0x00000003. I am using unimesh and milkshape, so this was correct to begin with, I just thought I'd check it.

Once I'd checked all of these things, I saved and exported the gmdc. Then I opened SimPe. I then opened my saved mesh from my downloads file. I replaced the gmdc, clicked "yes", replaced the name with ctrl v, and hit "commit". I saved and checked it and that is when I found the issue in bodyshop. What did I do wrong? I know this is a question very often asked, but it most cases it turned out to be the bone assignments, but my assignments are correct.

Thanks very much in advance.

That is very odd indeed. Transparency issues can also be caused by the mesh not being constructed properly in terms of the layers and stuff. Is this a massively changed mesh, or a minor change? Are you making sure that every group of the hair is visible when you're checking the bone assignments? (I once thought I'd corrected all the bone assignments just to find that 1 layer was missed) Those are the only thoughts I'm having right now, maybe someone else has other suggestions.

Thanks for the patience. I went back and saw in another tutorial you said to be sure and check that the copiedcres copiedshape were deleted. I was sure I had done this, because it is such a vital step. Somehow I missed it though. So as you said in the tutorial, I deleted the texture, started with a new one. I still had the issues, so I went back to milkshape and checked the normals, bone assignments and weights and the mesh is fine now. (?) So it was one of those things. I still can't believe I forgot to delete the copiedcres and copied shape. Ugh.

Thanks very much again, TiggeryPum. I swear, I need to sacrifice a goat in your honor or something.

*lol* Uhm, perhaps go make sure you did click 'thank you' on whatever tutorials or infocenter articles you found helpful (you might have done that already, but just in case, lol) ;)
