If I resize a mesh, say.... a bath, and maybe deleted the feet off the bath how do I get it to retain the original UV map and link with the original colours of the original bath? thanx S2P :)

It should retain the original uv-map if you don't edit the uv-map.
For making it use the original tub's textures, you can follow Procedure B in this (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=42014) tutorial.
