downloaded things not showing up in the Content Manager

Hi!
I have had this problem today and yesterday and I don't know what causes this. I had a new computer and installed The Sims 2 again and I also downloaded the Content Manager (by Maxis). I have used the Content Manager before and all of the downloaded stuff showed up. I downloaded some stuff yesterday and it doesn't show up in the content manager. How irritating....
the content manager remains empty...... I really want the downloaded stuff in my game so please help me!

Now I mostly talk about skins (as I should have mentioned). Other contents usually show up but I have got the problem with SKINS. They never show up in the content manager and I need them to do if I want them in the game.

The Content Manager doesn't work. Never has and I doubt ever will. Instead use Clean Installer (http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/) . And either way, you don't need to have either of those programs for your custom content to show up in the game. If you are having a problem with the content not appearing then go through the faq that Canoodle linked to.

I'm sorry but I have tried the clean installer and the content isn't showing up there either.....

Are the files .package files? Can you give me a link to the thread where you downloaded them from? Do you have them in Saved Sims or Downloads?

I do have them in downloads and most of the stuff is from modthesims and www.thesimsresource.com
Should I have it in "saved sims"?
Right now everything shows up in the content manager except for the skins. I really want the skins to show up.....

Bodyshop items such as skins, eyes, hair, outfits, etc. can go into either the Saved Sims or Downloads folders. Some people's games seem to prefer the Bodyshop items to be put into the Saved Sims folder instead of Downloads. So try moving those files and see if they show up.

I tried to move many of the files over to "saved sims" but it didn't show up in the content manager or clean installer. Is there something I can do? Please help me....
