I downloaded ALL of the necissary components to do recolours with SimPE.

I got an idea.

But, I need to know.

How do you change the images on screen of computers?

I'm not completely sure what you mean. Are you talking about the sims' computer screens, the ones that show up when they use their computers?

If that's not what he means, it's what I've been trying to find out. Can you enlighten us, IgnorantBliss?

Sorry, but I have zero knowledge on how to edit what shows up on those screens. There is a tutorial here (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=53770) on how to make a new buyable video game, but, other than that, I have no idea.

The images for the computers are just textures which get switched in and out based on what state the computer is in (on, booting, chatting, gaming, etc). If you clone a computer, you'll get all of the images in the package.

If you just want to change the screen images for a single computer, then you can just clone it and change the contents of the images. If you want to do it for all computers, you'll need to create a base override package. Which did you want to do?

Now, dredging deeply in my memory, one of the joints is in the middle of the screen and it is used by the game animation software to play video clips, which you place in one of the movie directories.

Is that for the video games? That's the only part of the computer I can think which actually has proper video playing on the screen...

Echo, I want to change the images for an individual computer, but I wouldn't mind doing a default override (though it's a bit messy if I want to share the computers with the changed screens). But just looking into some of the packages of computers I've downloaded, there's no texture image for the computer screen. After doing some digging, I found that computer screen image files are located in

The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Sims3D\Objects06.package (Low detail)
The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Sims3D\Objects07.package (High detail)

Objects06 are in TXTR, and Objects07 are in LIFO. Knowing this, what would next step be?

When I clone the computers with the default cloning settings, there is a bunch of separate texture images for the different screens. Which cloning settings are you using and which computer are you cloning?

You're right! It works for me too. I think the "Pull #STR-linked resources" option is the one you need checked to get the screens included in the package. Thank you!
