Making an object diagonal??

Is there a awy to make certain objects diagonal? I have seen a few dloads where (at least in the picture) different objects are diagonal or at an angle. I am working on a project that needs some objects that are like that and i would like to know just how to go about doing it. Would I need to make a mesh for it or is there a way to make already objects sit like that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
