View Full Version : What program to VIEW .package files?

I was wondering...is there a program available to simply VIEW (not alter in any way) a .package file?? I ask because I have tried Delphy's program (no picture to show me which eye color or lipstick is selected) and the Sims Catagorizer (only does objects, but I love the format). I am a semi-computer literate person who doesn't want to install fifiteen million programs on her computer to run one (I saw one in the modding tools section that instructed you to install about half a dozen programs to run theirs), I just want to see the file preview pic, and be able to delete it if I want to.
I could have SWORN I had one on my last computer (it got fried in an electrical storm) for Sims2, but I can't find it nor remember the name of it! Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kim

SimPE :) You can use it to view files and not edit anything.

The Clean Installer will do that as well, if you don't want the long loading time of Sim PE.

SimPE loading time can be reduced significantly by "-enable localmode noplugins" (without the quotes) on the command line. Add a shortcut with that in and you can easily open SimPE in the mode you want for that session. It reduces some user-friendly features but for just checking the contents of a package it should be ok.
Only thing is you have to join the QA testing team to get the version that does it properly (use the version one marked "Stable for IKEA" if you don't actually want to test lol)

Or you can use an ancient version like I do - SimPE before it was bloatware. :P

Yes, but that has to go along with the warning to all readers - do not attempt to edit Sims or Neighborhoods in a SimPE that has not been updated for your latest EP :)
