So I was trying to make the straight, blonde, base game hair work for my "leaves stuck in hair" project, but I'm new at this and the hair decided that it wouldn't listen to me. Everything was okay, I got it skinned all prettiful and then I went to alter the alpha. I added closed it in around the shoulder piece because their are gaps that look to neat and tidy to be playing in leaves all day but when I tried to edit that and the little side bangs it got mad at me and made my sim go bald except for like one little weird transparant section. This has happened before (this is my fourth trial doing this) and I was wondering if anyone could help me. I looked at all of the tutorials but they are on Milkshape and such but I'm not using milkshape, all I'm doing is making small changes using Paint.net. Is that what I'm doing wrong in the first place? I will add pictures in a minute.

I'm not experienced with Bodyshop stuff; prehaps, in the proper forum you have more chances to get a valid answer :)

For that particular hair, for the adult female, you should have 3 alpha, and three corresponding texture.

They should be:
afhair_Casual1~hair~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha
afhair_Casual1~hairalpha5~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha
afhair_Casual1~hairalpha7~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha

Along with the corresponding texture ones.

They should all be 512x512, saved as .bmp

Make sure you have all that correctly, and then make sure each alpha still contains its white areas, black areas, and everything in between, and that you have actually changed the ones you meant to change.

Unchanged, they actually all look the same.

Check that stuff, and see what you find or don't find.

I ran into this problem the first time I tried to recolor something in Paint.net. Re-save your images, and make sure they're set to 24-bit. That should fix your problem.
