Sims 2 Apartment Life not loading

It just wont load. I’ve tried the short cut that lets you avoid the vista launcher, and still nothing. Not even an error message. I’ve checked the bottom of the CD to make sure it wasn’t horribly damaged in some way – there are a few scratches, but nothing that has not been since the game HAD been working.

After quitting the game the last time I played it (last night) I have not downloaded anything new, or added/taken away anything from the download folder.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong, or what I could do to fix this problem?

Have you deleted your groups.cache file in your Sims2 folder in mydocs?

Since there is nothing in the opening post to suggest that the actual issue *is* with SecuROM (and, indeed, it's stated that the game actually worked fine recently), I'm reopening this.

The absence of error messages and the fact that it's been working recently suggests that it's actually not SecuROM related and this is a red-herring path. Please try Canoodle's suggestion first. I would advise you check the standard FAQs on Game wont load, etc too.

It would be quite easy to just quickly go through that and test without custom content, with fresh user files, and patched. The game suddenly not loading is often due to issues with your user files.
