(I have all the expansion packs, but am running from Apartment Life.)

One of my most loved Sims was at work one day, and an event-thing popped up on screen. It said something like "Severity (the name of the sim) is playing a game during his lunch break when his boss stops by and seems interested in the game. Should Severity show him the game?" The options were "Show him" and "Don't show him", so I picked "Show him". Then it said Severity had gained enthusiasm in Games, and I thought that was that.

However, right after that, this error popped up:

I naively pressed delete, and panicked when Severity vanished, but he came back after I went to Neighbourhood Mode and back.
However.
When Severity finally came home from work, I couldn't roll my mouse over him without that same error popping up. This also affects his interacting with other sims - he can't initiate any actions with them, and they can't initiate actions with him, or that error will pop up. :( But he doesn't have problems with using objects, though.

I tried getting him to quit his job, but it didn't help. I disabled all the hacks in the game, also didn't help (thought it might have been the boolprop mailbox hack, but it wasn't, I guess). I tried deleting him with moveObjects on. I don't know what's wrong, and I can't seem to find it in the FAQs. Suggestions? ;_; I really don't want to have to kill him or something and make a new character. He's one of my favourites.

How did you disable them? You need to actually remove them from your downloads folder - and not just hacks, all custom content (although you can certainly try with just hacks first).

If removing your download folder doesn't help, try getting the lot debugger and use the memory>delete attraction markers. Those can become corrupt and bug a sim.

Additionally, your computer does not meet minimum requirements to run the game. The reason if you don't have an actual graphics card. You just have a chip on the motherboard that kinda replaces the graphics card but the problem with this is even the strongest of IGPs, which yours is actually older and weak, can't compare to even the weakest current graphics cards. They're just really not equipped for games and even EA has stated that anyone with one of these needs at least a 2.4ghz CPU to play at MINIMUM.

callistra: I have no problems with my graphics, but thank you for informing me.

whiterider: The only proper hack I've got is the mailbox hack, so I tried removing that. Although the error box has stopped popping up, whenever I mouse over Sev, it just resets him automatically (I can tell by the way he 'jumps' and changes position) and the same thing happens for interactions. @_@ I'll try removing my whole download folder next.

Edit: Okay, I tried that. Didn't work. ;_;

Canoodle: I tried the nuking of attraction markers but it didn't fix the problem. :( Thank you for your suggestion though.

Now comes the tough bits: go throught the FAQ bit by bit. I know...it's not easy. I've done it myself..but its a lot easier than flailing around looking for a magic bullet. There is something wrong with your game. Try to replicate it, as per the FAQ guidelines, without user files. Does the problem stop? Seems silly , I know. But, if you follow the faq..in order, you will gain an incredible amount of info.

First..remove your downloads folder, as per the faq. Does the sim behave normally?

Canoodle: Okay, I removed the downloads folder, but it doesn't change anything. :( Sim still keeps resetting himself whenever I roll over him with the mouse, and interactions with other sims also result in resetting.

Which FAQ do you mean? Sorry, I'm just confused over the many FAQs there are.

ejnarts1: :( I tried that. Again, the error doesn't pop up but it just resets. I also tried forcing an error and deleting the sim, but still no go.

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:

General - Do the Game Problem FAQ
You appear to have not gone through our main Game Help:Game Problem FAQ. Please go through and do the steps on this FAQ, including any others that it links to (for example the Game Help:Game Problem-Problem Custom Content FAQ).

Usually, in the vast majority of cases, actually going through and doing the steps (doing, not just reading) fixes issues - sometimes you may be asked to remove custom content, or to patch - please rest assured that all of our FAQs have been tested by our staff and volunteers and we wouldn't suggest you do something unless it's been known to fix particular issues.

The one you were required to do before you posted. It would have solved this problem.

On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

Right-o.

1: According to Step Two of the Game Help FAQ (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem-Remove_Most_Likely_Problems), I removed my Downloads and SavedSims folder.

2: Then I tested it without custom content (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem-Test_Without_Custom_Content), and nothing changed. Still the problem persisted.

3: Following the Guide, I removed my user files (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:User_Files-Remove_All_User_Files).

4: Then I tested without user files (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:User_Files-Test_Without_User_Files). This was unhelpful, because my Sim was in a custom neighbourhood, which obviously wasn't available after I removed the user files; and it was difficult to recreate the situation because I would have to send a new sim to work and wait for an option like the one I got before the problem started. Which happens at random. So I proceeded to the next step.

5. Patching. (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem-Patch) I installed every patch available on the official Sims 2 Website.
Still nothing.

:( I've tried moving him out of the lot, but it didn't help either, so it's not a lot problem. I've tried looking for more specific FAQs, but as I said, I couldn't find any.

Does anybody have any more solutions before I go the whole hog and just reinstall?

Given that it's just this one sim, it's unlikely that reinstalling would help - the sim itself is damaged or corrupted somehow, or so it seems, not the installation. You may have to just kill or delete him to minimise the impact.
