I hope this is the right place to post this. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way have your sims play custom music on the in-game instruments?

Yes, but doing so is messy. All the tools and methods exist, but you'd need to hack the soundtable, splice your custom sounds into the game, and then hack the BHAV to play the expanded soundtable. Have fun.

Thanks. Could I do that on a mac? I just reinstalled, so if I screw it up, I can just reinstall again.

Jake - I think what Pescado is saying is that, while it is technically possible to do this, the complexities involved would prohibit anyone short of an highly expert modder from making this sort of change. I mean, technically it's possible to recreate the entire game in C++, but it's not really a practical thing to try and change.

But you know, given that sims are unable to actually hear or otherwise appreciate the music, you may as well just mute the game and play your own music.
