I was making this chair and, although being a basic mesher, everything worked fine. That was, until, I went in game to see how it looked and to my surprise (not really) something was wrong :p. The back of my chair has very weird shadows on the back of it.

they only appear when facing towards the direction of the sun, and when facing away the shadows look fine.

I don't know whats wrong with it, normally my objects don't have shadows as is, sorry if there is an obvious way to solve this, I am only following the steps I have learned so far :giggler:

And, if it is any help, I use Wings 3D, Paint.net, and UV mapper Classic.

It's an oddness with wings. Select the subset, select faces, select autosmooth.

There is a lot of useless edges in your mesh. Just delete them and turn
the normals outside.
You can easily see the result on this picture:

I join also the fixed object if you want to take a look on it.

Maylin how do turn normals outside in wings? I didn't know you could. When importing Maxis meshes into wings, it looks like that as well, and can only be fixed by smoothing.

Not possible in Wings? I'm surprised! I use Blender for meshing. I will download Wings and try it out.

does align normals have a Wings version? Because it works WONDERS on milkshape.
