I've tried to recolor hair several times, just regular Maxis hair that's included in the game. But, when I go to upload my project to BodyShop it either says something about files being missing, or the hair doesn't show up at all, yet it doesn't display a message. :(
I haven't done anything relating to my Sims 2 game that I think would cause this. And I made sure to save my recolors the exact same name/ file type.
I'm on a Vista, and have Double Deluxe and Apartment Life.

Can you tell us the exact "files missing" error?
If it were me, I would do this: make a new project from a Maxis hair. Change nothing in the files and textures - just make the project. Then do "import to game" unchanged. That will tell you quite easily whether it's your edits causing the problem or an actual technical issue with Body Shop itself.
If it works fine that way, then you need to look at what you're doing with your edits. Alpha and texture files have to match in dimensions - a 512x512 texture has to have a 512x512 alpha. Dimensions also must be a proper multiple like that - 128, 256, 512, 1024, etc. - not some random other number. Also look at things like bit depth and format (RGB/CMYK) in your graphics editor. All of those are things that could mess it up.

I uploaded one without any changes, and it worked fine, so it must be what I'm doing with it. My dimensions are exactly the same, I don't change them from the ones you originally have. :( I don't know what bit depth is, how do I check it?

Bit depth is like... 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, etc... How you check it depends on the program you're using. I use Photoshop CS3 and in it, it's under Image menu - Mode - and then it's down toward the bottom of the menu - 8, 16, or 32 bits per channel settings. Up at the top of that same menu is CMYK, RGB, greyscale, etc... Generally that won't change unless you change it yourself but some programs may default to editing in a particular one, which might cause the problems you're having.
