Building your own university campus?

I dont know if this has been posted before. I want to build my own university campus. I know how to create buildings but do you build a uni campus the same as a normal neighbourhood?

yes and no, you need to build dorms rather then houses (and you can use houses as well but small dorms are better

aww i did that once, it took ages but it was worth the effort, I built three dorms, six small houses, a bowling alley, bar/club type thing, students union, cafe/diner and a park. I then sent the pleasant view people there.

I build my own universities...sorta. I set up custom universities for my custom neighborhoods, but I usually use downloaded house/dorms/community buildings. I like the Brixham set at MTS2, and Wolfsim's got some great uni and community buildings that are great. For lone rental small housing the Cheapside set at MTS2 is great.

Living in houses in University aint bad but you got to know there are no 20k hand-outs in university, so most likely you won't have enough simelons to live in them, but living in dorms is free but the Non-playable dormies can be a nuscaine.

A pity there is such a small selection of dorms avaible of the net unlike Houses and Community, well good dorms anyway.

One thing I wonder and don't know off, is a University is incomplete without a Secret Society, so how would you built one? since their location is invisible of doesn't show on the neighborhood map.

It gives you the option to assign one when you first build a custom University. But I think you need to assign it right then, because I'm not sure it will give you a second chance.

I have cheated and used a ready built dorm, ( modifyed it a bit,) but built my own community lots for it.
I moved my sim into the dorm, but no other sims can to join her?

OK. Does your dorm still have everything it needs? And is it zoned as a dorm? (If you were playing with walls you may have changed the lot zoning.)

For the question about the secret society a bit back, they are in the lot bin. There are three different lot sizes. If you are building a custom Uni then just plop one of the three SS lots down and it'll disappear, and everything will work like in a pre-created university SS. Just remember where you put it, so you don't get all confused later as to why lots can be placed on what looks like blank space, thats happened to me. I don't think you can build a custom one though, since I've never seen an option to zone for that. :)

I use La Fiesta Tech and I have no idea where my SS is placed, I have the lot-views on the highest and all i see is an endless desert, no other buildings, trees or nothing. Just a road.

"ChangeLotZoning SecretSociety" rezones a lot to a secret society building, or so I have been told. There are problems if you have more than one assigned, even if you have two or more Uni neighborhoods.

You are not supposed to see the secret society on campus. Once you make one on a university campus, it disappears.
