well i found it in downtown (yay dual-core, im rockin downtown now hehe) anyway, i was wondering if anyone has played it i mean its empty but have you moved anyone in? i went in in build mode and looked around..its got a decent layout despite being maxis built (i swear they dont build em to play, just look at) and when my current hot family get the dough thier going to move in. i was curious about little glitches specific to the lot, how it plays,etc...i know the tiny 2x2 in pleasentveiw is very buggy just wondering about this one

I just got nl yesterday and looked at that lot. Did you see the basement!?!?! THe house may play well, but there are several Tricou ghosts there so you may want to watch your step! Oh, which 2x2 in pleasantview? There are several, and they all play fine for me?

i didnt even see if there was a basement since i never seen a maxis house with one! lol..and i did note the tombstones.. the pleasentveiw lot im talking about is the heavily wooded one in the top right corner..way out on the road with the modern condos on it. its one room shack, and i loved to play it because it was easy to expandd and worked well for my poverty sims..but i lost alot of sims in that house for somereason...i say its cursed..lol stupid graphics glitches and the wonderful complete enviromental need failure a few times... its a glitchy lot..im hoping this downtown lot isnt like that one was..since i think its a lovely house.

Longdaysend, the reason that the 2x2 lot in Pleasantview is buggy for you, could be because Maxis didn't intend to include 2x2 lots in the basegame.

That's probably true! That lot, as well as the Broke lot and a few of the condo's use that 2x2 lot that was included in nl after. Strange glitch, isn't it? :D But yes, longdaysend, you should take a look at the basement of the "House of Fallen Trees". It proves that the Tricou family was indeed vampires... wait, I'm telling you too much! :p That 2x2 lot is my least favorite. I always remodel it if I can. But, yes, good for poverty sims!

If you have OFB and intend to use the basement, you can put an elevator in. It's a full sim hour to climb those stairs.

You probably shouldn't put a car in the garage. Leave it on one of the two extensions nearest the curb. Cars we put in the garage often either vanished when the sim came home without the car, or wouldn't let anybody use them. And kids love to leave their homework on the floor of the garage, so make sure you keep track of where they leave it.

well i assumed its buggy because its a 2x2..you know i don't think i ever went back after i installed the eps to try and play it again..ill have to see if its "fixed" now that the eps are in... hmmm the basement you say..lol...when i get a chance to go into the game tonight,i'll check it out further... they aren't even close to purchasing it at the moment i could "cash" a few times and be set for life..but thats cheating :)

thanks for the heads up on the stair and homework thing, i apperciate the info :)

After reading this thread, i moved a random sim in to investigate the house, and couldn't believe the size of the basement! it's huge! the house itself isnt the best to play and the ghosts come out most nights, which was my sims downfall, as she died within two days of entering after being constantly scared by the ghosts Ž_Ž and she's buried there now ><;;

Its very trickly getting the camera to the bottom of the Basement, the fact is I was playing the HOTFT for days I didn't even know the basement existed until one of my sims decide to take a nap in a coffin.

The house is as hell as fun to play, it would only be boring if your computer can't handle it, my computer handles it well, I just check the Hide Objects feature in graphics settings for that particular house only.

Hey! I just had an idea. I may upload a "House of fallen trees" to MTS2, but without the basement and nicely decorated and such... Yay! Anyhoo, back on subject, yes the house is beautiful, but certainly dark. Also, Maxis forgot some of the flooring in the dining room. :haha: But, did it play well? Aside from the basement, I mean....

it played fine..but then im running my ep-full game on a dual core with almost 2 gigs of ram..no lag,no glitches..and certainly no traffic jams :D

ConradThe2nd
23rd Jan 2007, 06:52 AM
I guess the house was purposely kept dark, as the house is CPU hungry enough at it is, and to light it up also but certainly put the average machine to much lag, 1GIG RAM like me doesn't cut it, I have a family of 5 living there, most of the time it runs fine, just I gotta remember not to invite too many guests to my House Partys.

But whoever having trouble getting into the bottom of the basement, put all walls down first, fly over above the centre of the pit, and continue to hold down the rotate button, if positioned right you down no problem.

Has it been mentioned yet that half of the DownTownie teens are related to the male Tricou that is buried at Gother Greens Cemetery?

I find that house too big to play. I tend to keep my houses smaller, as those are easier to play and it takes sims less time to get from one part of the house to the other. My favorite floorplan is the Bonny Bungalow. I have found that to play most nicely, to be easy to add onto as families grow, and to work well for most family types (individuals, roommates, families, and even a greek house). I also like the Victorian Dream. I have a great computer, so how it handles graphics isn't a problem for me when it comes to the House of Fallen Leaves. Gameplay is my problem. The basement is pretty darn cool, though. :-)

I went downtown in my game and i looked all over for this house and did not see a house that said "House of Fallen Trees". Can someone take a picture of this house.

I found it lol i was searching with the normal cursor mode i had to be in the lot mode and click on the houses to get the information card. LOL it has a cool floor plan i might just move a branch of the Mayfairs there. AND OH MY the stairs to the basement lol i bet that takes a full sim day to climb down them.

I just downloaded a merged Pleasentview, Veronaville, Strangetown with the default Downtown. The Tricous are alive in that neighbourhood, because of a problem with sharing them already dead.

Anyway, I would like to set them up, as they were in the original downtown. I donīt have that attached to any of the neighbourhoods right now, though. So I was wondering, if someone could tell me, who is buried where? I noticed the six flowerbeds set up like graves, so I guess six of them are buried in the house of fallen trees. Is that right? And are the other two buried at Gothier Green Lawns? Can someone tell me who those two are? Iīd be grateful for any help.

There are 4 in Gothier green. Nylisst(sp), Jon Smith, and I think Kvornan and Kieran

I remember Nylisst because she is the one who turns up every time I am having a date and making out in the cemetary with one of my knowledge sim couples. She is responsible for 12 midnight Dream Dates. (Knowledge sims are STRANGE!!!!)

Maybe I let the teens live and make them into vampires though. I have never played a vampire. Itīs still great to know how it was originally set up.

I was going to use 1 of them to like get 1 of my daughters preg with she is a knowlegde sim and it kinda reminded me of that whole Lasher thing(Lives Of The Mayfair Witches) lol. But after like a whole hr playing around trying to find exactly where they died i was like GRAH!! lol

It seems that the grandmother's turn on was Vampirism, and she killed all the family. That's why when I resurrected the family by John, the last one he wanted to resurrect was - his wife.

Hi,
I play that house in several neighborhoods. I leveled the basement so that it's just one story down, all those stairs were annoying.

In one neighborhood I made a family where the parents are vampires and they run a coffin/urn(vases) business in the basement. I figured they might as well make money while they're up.

Now I'm playing the Tricou family in the house in Strangetown, and for some reason Jennail and Kvornan won't get married. They got engaged (even tho there's no red heart in the relationship panel) but when I gathered everybody and had them get married under the wedding arch, all the sims did a wierd jump and the wedding never finished. There was the interlocking wedding rings above Jennail's head tho, which just made it extra weird, but in the relationship panel they are still engaged. What type of strange glitch is this? They also have the family symbol by each other but still no marriage. Are they fixable or should I dump them?

And how do I resurrect Rainelle? Does she have any family members?

gali
28th May 2007, 11:57 AM
About the marriage - I heared that using the Insimenator fixes the glitch, but you can change the relations with the SimPe - just change the relation box to "spouse" (scroll down).

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/gali123/spouses.jpg

The lower line of the relations is empty (as I don't play them now), but I checked the upper line (friends/buddies/crush/love), and scrolled down to "spouse". Don't forget to check "submit", and to save the file after that.

I forgot to check "married" - most important :).

I resurrected Rainelle too. First, I sent her tomb (by a sim) to the Gothier Green Lawns (downtown). Then I sent my sim (her future husband) to the Gothier Green Lawns, and put her tomb in his inventory (this way he gets to so-called know her).
When the sim returns home - put the tomb in the yard, and order him to call the Grim Reaper; now her resurrection is permitted.
No, she is alone, no family members - must be one of the grandma victims.
She has awesome kids, if you marry her to a handsome sim (preferably green eyes).

Clik first on Page down, to be sure that you are at the basement floor. Then click on your keyboard z-z-z, to get as close as possible, then hold the Ctrl button and maneuvre with the left mouse. :)

You can also use Tab to change the camera angle, then tab again to go back to live mode. if you play with it you will eventually get an angle which will see into the basement reasonabley well. Walls Down also helps unless you are taking pictures.

Um... I love this house, but it eats away at my graphics hard-core because of the basment. And one of the bad things about deep basments is that it's a pain to zoom in and out and move around. It's a wonderful house for vampires though.

Currently, my very first Sim (a recreation of myself) lives in this house (moved to my custom neighborhood). Hes a Mad Scientist, and I use the basement for "inventions" (i.e reward objects and such). I've decked it out with stuff from Glamour Life and I can honestly say its one of the coolest houses I've played. Never noticed any ghosts or anything like that around the lot though

Ah! So it's not just me! I went to try to play that house a long time ago when NL first came out. I found it to be a very laggy lot to play and even full of lights, both hanging, wall and standing, the house was always still just so dark it really took away from the gameplay. Haven't been back to it since, but now with this thread, it has piqued my curosity again! :)

I did add a couple of windows... I guess just not enough. Maybe I will have to try again and see if that makes a difference.

Also, has anyone MOVED this lot from downtown to any other part of town (say like Bluewater Village)? If you move this lot, will you lose all the ghosts?

Your right about it being so dark at night, wasn't so dark when I had a crappy Graphics Card, but with my Radeon 9600 pro, the house is almost unplayable at night on levels 2 +3, I added in extra lights, but they only light up a very small portion, there must be something hardcoded in that particular lot to keep it so dark.

If you put the house as it is in the House Bin, and the move it to another part - I don't think you'll lose the ghosts, but the ghosts will lose their relationships with their families.

But you "cheat" the simulator: put in the house a family, or a single sim. Order him to move the tombs to Gothier Greenlawns (downtown).
After that, move the sim/family to the Family Bin.
Now click on the empty house, and package it to a file (click on the *), which will be kept in your Packaged Lots folder. You can always install it in any new hood you want.
Move the empty house to the House Bin, and put it wherever you want.
Return there the sim/family, send one of them to Gothier Greenlawn, and put the 3 tombs in his inventory.
Return home and put the tombs in the lot.
The ghosts will return to act, and keep their relations with the rest Tricoue family.

I did it in Pleasantview, when I wanted to move Mortimer/Cassandra/Alex to a new house.
I even got an option to resurrect all the pre-dead sims, like the mother and the father of Mortie.

The house of fallen trees is my favourite Maxis house. Something about it is so Sims1-esque, it looks a bit like the original Goth house from Sims1, or perhaps another house I haven't been on Sims1 for a long time.

I love the statue of the woman in the garden; if you read the description it tells you the story about why toddlers and babies can never die in a fire. I loved that, its a fantastic touch to the game and I considor it an easter egg!

I've moved it into Pleasantview and I believe I still have all the ghosts. I haven't played it in ages. But I love the house.

Also, those pictures of the basement on the page before, it doesn't have any water in the basement. Which surprised me because in my game it's all water down there, and the sims can actually walk under water (which surprised me.)

Also can't vampires teleport? I remember that when I was messing around with this one it was able to do that. Or it might just be because I have insim in my game. I know vamps can turn into bats though^^

But I love that house, sorta makes me want to restart my game just to play it. Hehe but it's late.

Ghost sdoj

It was Insim that let your vampire teleport. Whether or not the basement floods depends on the neighborhood. If the water table gets raised above the level of the basement you will get the pseudo-flooding. But that shouldn't happen Downtown.

[QUOTE=Lola]

I love this house- I modified it a bit tho as there weren't enough bathrooms in the house to begin with and with 8 sims you HAVE to have more then 3 bathrooms- especially with a party going on. I also moved the basement to 1 lvl below as thats where all my sims wanted to hang out and I couldn't figure out how to angle the camera to see down there.
I actually LOVE the ghosts in it too- so entertaining. Alot of you have said the house is dark, but on my game its not very dark except at night outside. I added lots of windows and lighting. I even made a second kitchen on the 4th floor so my hungry sims had a place to grab a snack while playing cards. As for glitches I have found are that some of my appliances are perma "in use". I just added a sink to thier kitchens and they hand wash dishes now. I cannot delete the bugged out dish washers either. I think they bugged out because Abrica my cleaning ghost was loading the dishwasher and someone tried to use it that was living. I am not sure how to fix the appliances yet.
I have 4 cars in the drive way and they all seem to work fine.
I don't have a great computer so I get laggy sometimes but only if I am trying to do multiple things at night- which I think is due to the ghosts. I may move some of the graves to the Greener lot if they aren't useful. So far I have one that does my dishes and one that scrubs my toilets- but neither one of them came with the house lot. Also how do you summon the grim reaper?

Activate the cheat console and you can delete the "in use" appliances with Move_Objects on. You can use the tab key to adjust the camera angle to see into the basement.

Summoning the grim reaper is done with the Paranormal career reward (The resurrect-o-nomitron, from University.) But you can have an active sim plead with him when he shows up after a sim dies. If the daily/lifetime relationship score is high enough you can save the dying sim for free.

Ah ok, thats why I never saw a option- I don't have Uni yet. Its on my list of xpacs to get tho. I ended up downloading a home yesterday and moved them into that house- it was smaller and modern compared to the House of the Fallen Trees. I also split up the tomb stones so I took some home with me and some went to the Greener Goth. Thanks for explaining all that to me. I think Lola might be scarred because they are creepy when they scare your sims, LOL. Some people are just creeped out by them. *shrugs* Some people have been through alot, death, all those things. It creeps them a bit when they see it haunting them. Lola may be one of those people, but hey! Different people get scarred of different things.

Am I dumb or I just don't see - how can you ressurect the dead family using the ressurect-o-nomitron, if you don't have anyone that would know them? Or is there a living family member that comes with NL? I've deleted all of those.
Also, I don't have hacks, because they make the whole playing too easy, but I would get some in order to ressurect the Tricou family. Help. :)

Ghost sdoj
11th Mar 2008, 01:59 PM
There are downtownies who are descended from the Tricou family. They have different names in each game, but if you move one in or send them to college they have memories of their dead relatives. (And wants to resurrect them.)

gali
11th Mar 2008, 05:25 PM
Well, Lenoba, you are not dumb - the family relations can be seen only with SimPe or Enhanser (external programs).

I suggest you to open a new hood, because after you resurrect the family, you will have at least 5 new families, and this will occupy almost all the hood.

Jon Smith (or Jonathan) Tricou is married to Jennicor, and has with her 2 daughters: Jennial, and Nillicit.
But he has about 6-7 childs with different women.

Jennial is marries to Kvornan, and they have a boy - Fricourit:

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/gali123/Tricous/Jennial.jpg

Nillicit is married to Kiernan, and they have a girl - Gvaudouin.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/gali123/Tricous/illicit.jpg

All the adults/elders' tombs are in the Green Lawns cemetary, the kids' tombs are in the House of Fallen Trees.

When you enter the hood, open the university you want, return to the hood, and try to send this girl. She wears a hat, but is named different in each hood:

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/gali123/Tricous/jontricou-1.jpg

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/gali123/Tricous/difname.jpg

You don't need hacks. After she graduates, give her paranormal carreer. She can resurrect only Jon with the O-Nomitron. He begins to roll wants to resurrect the others.

Be aware to resurrect each family together, befriend them with the girl and her mate, and move the family out (you will have more than 8 sims, if you resurrect them all).

The best is to resurrect the wife at the end. She killed them all, because she became a vampire. Don't let her go near vampires, or change her turn on with an external program (SimPe). Fricourit has a turn on for vampire, the girl doesn't. Don't let him go near vampires - unless you want him to be one.

Leave the elders to live with the graduated girl, they like to be in her family.

Oh you are sooooo nice to help me :) I did it and killed the grandparents then again.
But I can't marry Jennial & Kvornan or any of the couples that were married before. They have 100/100 relationships, but they don't fall in love, they can't make out (only kisses till "romantical"), can't woohoo and so on. I don't see the problem, but they have this "family" icon in relationships, maybe this is the problem?

You have to propose first engagement, and then marriage - start from the beginning.
In my game all went fine.
Now is the time to use the SimPe, and check the "married" rectangle, even without the marriage procedure.

But they always can make more kids...:).

If you'd like to play the family then may I suggest getting the combined hood in MATY. Not only do you have the Tricou's restored and bug free (Not to mention bastard childern free...>_>) but you get all the hoods in one! : D

Wait, which wife was the vampire?

Oh wait! Is it Jennial? It would explain why her niece and brother in law hates her (Don't know about the sister since she was the one who resurrected her and the entire family, I used Insi,m to summon Nystissi's ghost and made her best friends with my ghost so she would appear on resurrect sim).

I have always wondered about the Tricou family and looks like I just got my answer, in fact rigjht now Jennial is married back to her husband (Before they died) and is living with my customs sims Isabella and Drake.
And what happens if she gets turned into a vampire? She hasn't been near one yet but since in every neighbourhood Tricou is one of the many like Meadow Thayer who gets to marry my sims. (I especially like Nysiatt).

Btw, why does the grandmother, Jennal and the two kids wear black lipstick? (Not to mention one of the downtownies who always wears a black trenchcoat and blond hair has black lipstick).

And I wonder if maybe Jon protected those children because he knew (He's the grandfather) Jennail would kill them so he got rid of them...

I've moved it into Pleasantview and I believe I still have all the ghosts.

Also, those pictures of the basement on the page before, it doesn't have any water in the basement. Which surprised me because in my game it's all water down there, and the sims can actually walk under water (which surprised me.)

the reason why your basement is flooded is because the in-game waterlevel is higher in pleasentview then downtown. you can have this water issue in every neighborhood, with every house, sometimes it's even the ground level what is flouded.

Thanks for posting all of that info on the Tricou's, gali. After reading so much about them and meeting Fricorith's ghost earlier this evening, they've begun to interest me... I might have to see if I can get them back now. ;)

As far as this house goes... it's a lovely house, though it can lag a bit at times; I wound up raising the basement up to only one floor so that it's not a major hike to get down into it. It's a wonderful haunted house for a vampire to live in.

Be my guest, Legolian. :)

Black Barook, your story will be different, if you check with the SimPe the memories of Jennicor (the grandmother).

- Jon Tricou died (the husband died first).
- Moved in (to which house she moved is not mention).
- Jenial died (daughter and wife of Kvornan)
- Nillicit died (daughter and wife of Kiernan)
- Kiernan died (Kiernan is a Romance sim - may be she was jelous).
- Fricourith died (seems she moved to the house of Kvornan, killed her daughter and grandson, to remain with the husband)
- Kvornan died (Kvornan is a Pleasure sim)
- Gvaoudoin died (the last, they have -82 relations)
- I am dead

...Bussy-Bee Grandma...:)

Games sometimes get minor changes when they load.... Mine had Angela and Lilith Pleasant being identical except for clothing and interests.

(But both shared a max interest in paranormal, and in killing their dad when they caught him cheating on their mom.)

I decided to check out that house a few days ago. When I saw the basement, my eyes widened, and I thought, nah, I don't think my Sims want to move here....

I don't do ghosts.

I have put sims into this household before. One thing I have noticed, is that one of the dead tricous looks a lot like one of the heads you can get for teenage girls with the first skintone. Coincidence?

I never play that house "NEVER" I do not want my sims living in a house with Vampires living in the basement, I have always known it was there. That may be the reason why the house is called "House Of Fallen Trees" because your sims could become like trees leaves and fall to the power of the vampires who are the living dead. No way would I put a sims in that house.

The vampires aren't in the house. There are ghosts, but no vampires. The vampires are all downtown having pillow fights in the restaurant and biting people in the bowling alley.

"Ghost sdoj" lol :) I never play that house all I know is there are coffins down in that basement. Infact I do not like the ghosts in the game I made a community graveyard in my game. Like old Goth house I put all his dead relatives in that community grave ( I made it a really nice place to put family members love ones. )

One reason I did so is, because the darn ghosts scare the living day light out of a toddler in my game, and the poor child still have that bad memory, now and then it pop up in his mind it already have became his deep fear.

First time I saw the Fallen Trees house I knew I did not like it, then when I check the whole house out and went into the basement and saw those Vampires coffin I knew I would never play it

The coffins are bad enough. You have a nice soft, comfortable bed upstairs and where do your sims want to sleep? In the hard, uncomfortable coffin! Does it matter that they take an hour and a half to get down the stairs in order to get to the coffin when they were right next to the bed? No. Does it matter that you have more sims going down to the coffins than there are coffins, so one of them is going to collapse from exhaustion on the stairs before getting back to the bed that he could have been sleeping in all this time if he hadn't been STUPID?

(On the other hand, if the advertising on coffins weren't so high, vampires wouldn't want to use them when there was a nicer bed in the house, either.)

I have a question...I've revived all the Tricous except grandma, as there's not enough room for her yet. But the husbands and wives won't fall in love :/
Is there anyway to get them to do so without simPE, or am I going to have to download it?
(And if this is so, could anyone provide a link? Thank you!)

I've never personally bothered with the Tricou's, but I believe that you'll definitely need simPE when it comes to that family.

I sold everything in that basement, including the door that leads to it and was happily playing the House of Fallen Leaves with a family consisting of Pleasure Sims. The house is big enough for a family of 5-6 Sims. The ghosts never enter the house, just roam outside, so they are not a bother.

There's 8 official Tricous, plus the 6 Downtownie teens related to John Smith Tricou, the patriarch.

Given the house's name, and the fact that it's right next door to the graveyard, I had a bad feeling about it myself. The coffins confirmed it.

A bit off-topic...I create cemeteries in my neighborhoods and put tombstones there. My Sims can mourn during the day, and I keep them away from graveyards at night.

Borked Dna and nasty personality. She was attacking everybody else in the family every time he left her alone with them. (He thinks she was probably the one who killed them all.)

EAxis seems to be good at that :(

But then they give us a non-cheat method of resurrecting them... shakes head at the strangeness of the developers' intentions

Borked Dna and nasty personality.

I guess borked DNA won't be a problem unless you age her down and get her to have babies? Or is it that her mere presence as a playable Sim will cause problems in game? I don't care about nasty attitude, my Sims are too nice, I need some variety.

well not all of them died in a fire some of them died of starvation. besides that another person moved in there but died of fright because of the tricou ghosts thats probably why there are no signs of burning.
