I`ve seen people talk about their experiences with Stuff Packs, & I was wondering : Does a stuff pack automatically mean glitches, or reasons why your game is screwed up?

[I really want to know because I was thinking about buying the H&M Stuff Pack.]

Of course not. Like with all games there are bound to be bugs, but these will NOT destroy your game. Patches are usually released within weeks of release if an urgent fix is needed, and within a couple months for minor quibbles. H&M has been out for quite some time now, so a patch should come out soon. However I haven't heard about many bugs present in the game to date, so I wouldn't worry about that. The only stuff pack with a serious problem was Family Fun Stuff as most of the clothes that came with the pack disappeared and couldn't be used in-game, but, as I said earlier, a patch was released quickly for that problem.

As long as you follow the guide, on this site, for installing Stuff Pack/Expansion you will be fine. I don't have the link for the guide but it basically consists of backing up save games, download etc. It also recommends removing downloads when you install and first play the game and then put them back in. And if you notice any bugs that might be from downloads (hack especially) then you'll have to update them or found out if they are compatible. Generally Stuff Packs have little conflicts in the way of downloads.

Hope that helps (by the way all Stuff Packs I have, and expansions, have worked wonderfully...I wonder what people do to their games when they stop working).

Thank you for the information!
I was really worried about buying it.

I just bought H&M and once installed all of my custom furnishings started flashing blue. Right now I'm trying to figure out what went wrong.

There's a guide either on ModtheSims2 or SimsCommunity that I mentioned previously that can help you with this. Blue flashing means recolours/textures aren't being found or implemented correctly. I suggest making sure you enable custom content in the window that pops-up when you load the game. If it doesn't come up there is an option in the Options once you've loaded a neighbourhood/house. Not sure where abouts but it's definitely not in Camera or Graphics settings, so it must be in Play I guess...have a look, you should be able to find it.

Hope that helps.

I have never had any glitches after installing a stuff pack or expansion. the only glitches I have had were the result of custom content either conflicting with each-other, or being misinstalled, so it definatly isn't a sure thing.

Stuff packs often seem to cause more issues because people don't check the system requirements before buying and then think it's the fault of the EP for making their walls and floors flash red and forcing them to uninstall (losing all their sims in the process if they didn't back up first!) when it's actually *their* fault for not checking the system requirements to see if they have a supported graphics card.

I have H&M and have had no problems whatsoever with it.

My game has been virtually un-playable since I installed H&M stuff. It runs about 100% slower than it did before. My system meets the requirements, I cleaned up my PC by de-fragging, I always close un-needed applications before I play (i.e. I've tried to remedy it the problem in every way I can think of.) I even went through and deleted most of my CC and deleted all my neighborhoods and started a new one. Still pretty much unplayable. I've installed every other expansion and stuff pack with minimal issues, I'm guessing this last one just broke the last straw. So I'd say, if you have all the other packs, tread carefully. I just don't think many computers can handle stacking this many games on top of each other.

I recently bought and installed H&M - I did have a problem with the lines on glamour life beds at the top - they were flashing blue lines - and this is an EA object - not a recolour- the original object EA made, but that was fixed by using the update tool in buy mode and rechoosing the colour again.

I did have problems with the Celebrations stuff pack - changed all the names of my CAS sims, but left born in the game sims alone. But that was because I'm in Australia - and we got a 24 hour clock change because our game was designed for Europe or somewhere else - this existed solely with the Aussie version of the game.

The Nvidia crashing started with Glamour Life stuff, but that's about the Nvidia drivers, more than the stuff pack itself - because it got worse with Pets and Seasons. That is easily solved with boolprop useshaders false, and they're trialling a new Nvidia driver right now.

Other than this, no problems with stuff packs, and I have the lot :)

My PC barely supports my Sims games, so I guess I should leave the Stuff Packs alone until I get a new computer!
Thanks for telling me you guys` experiences though!

I've gotten all the stuff packs and never had a problem with any of them, even with my old Geforce 6800 I had prior for it. Biggest thing is remembering to re-enable the cc and exit the game so it shows (which I've had friends who thought stuff packs broke their cc but it was just needing to be turned back on).

As for flashing maxis items.....are you positive its not a cc that's overwritten the maxis item? I've some that look exactly as they should but its not quite a full clone and not quite a recolor of the maxis items and it all has the cc star on them, meaning something has overwritten the original form.

Has the H&M stuff pack affected anyones hacks or anything? I can get over blue flahing things because eventually those can be fixed but I actually want to make sure my game's still actually playable.

The SP's are usually more compatible with hacks compared to EP's. However caution is always needed as I know there were some Hacks with some compatibility issues with Family Fun Stuff. However all the popular hacks have been upgraded by now for it, and the Stuff Packs since.
