Inspired by the wonderful stories I’ve been reading on this board, I decided to start one myself. It was a spontaneous decision and I hope it will go on well! :D If you guys like it I will continue it!

Disclaimer: Grandma Gypsy is not my sim, she is shuldig_seiben's, who was nice enough to send her to me some time before :) Shadee's actually part hers :D

Starting a new life - Shadee's story

Intro

Hello! My name is Shadee, Shadee Evans. I’ve had a wonderful life until two weeks ago. That’s when I lost everything dear to me: my family. There was a fire at my house and I was the only one that survived it. My mother, my father and my three older siblings perished.

I now live with my grandparents in their huge house. It the place I now have to call home…but it feels so strange. It’s nice and big, I have my very own room on the second floor but it’s not the place where I grew up and my family no longer exists.

Grandma Gypsy and grandpa Menas are really nice and supportive. They miss Adril, my father and their first son, very much and they understand my feelings too.

When I moved in, Grandpa made a swing for me on the front lawn. I’m no longer a kid, but it proved to be a place where I can spend my time. I feel very lonely and deserted. I have no friends…

Every time I remember the happy times I cannot stop the flow of tears. My favorite place seems to be the backyard graveyard. Crying helps for the moment, but afterwards I feel even worse.

I am afraid of what is about to come. I am afraid of the end of the summer holidays. I’m afraid of highschool and all the new people I am going to meet. I am afraid…

And a little side note information: Shadee was born ingame and I was a bout to kill her off with her whole family...but after aging her up to a teenager, I thought she was too pretty so I spared her life and moved her in with her grandparents. :D She's got A LOT of relatives around the 'hood

Chapter One

I had a pretty restless night. I started thinking over everything that had happened in the past month, everything that had changed in a blink of an eye. Had I ever expected to end up like this? There were moments when I wished I had died in that fire too. I hated myself for surviving when the rest of my family didn’t stand a chance.
Sleep eluded me. Slowly I threw off the blanket covering me and changed into something a little longer.

Slowly and as silent as I could, not to wake up my grandparents, I went down the stairs and then out on the front lawn where my dear swing was swaying slightly in the night breeze. It was quite cool outside, but I didn’t care. The day coming was the last one I was going to spend in the protective shell of my grandparents’ house. My first day of highschool was only one day away. Gulp!

I just stood out there for some time, I think about two hours passed, then went back to bed. I really felt better.

I opened my eyes slowly against the bright morning light as I heard grandma shout from downstairs. My breakfast was ready. Yawn! Oh my! It’s already 12…I scrambled out of bed and went in the bathroom for the morning routine, then changed into my everyday outfit. Suddenly, without a sign, I began to cry, almost howl. This used to happen quite often…starting to cry so suddenly. But this was due to my memories. I had just noticed a blouse that used to belong to my mom on the clothing hamper. It hurt so badly! I could almost feel the smell of her perfume drift towards me. She was gone…

Grandma awoke me from my “trance” as her voice drifted impatiently from downstairs again.
‘Come, dear! Your eggs are getting cold!’
I clenched my fists and swallowed hard against the tears. No one has to know I had been crying again. I have to show everyone I am strong…I will get over this! I just rubbed my eyes and wiped the tears from my face, tried to smile and get myself in a more cheerful mood then went down for breakfast.

There could be no doubt about it: grandma Gypsy sure knows how to cook! Her eggs with bacon are the best I have ever eaten in my life. Still I would give everything I have to eat the burnt toaster pastries mom used to cook for breakfast.

After I had eaten, grandma called me to the living room. It was really sweet of her: she told me she loved me very much and she knows what I’m going through and we both began to cry. I think this made us bond more than we had done when I was a kid. She then asked me whether I wanted to go shopping for some clothing today…why not? It seemed I hadn’t done that in ages.I felt I needed to change something in my life in order to get over the past events.

So we all took a taxi to a nice shopping district. I looked around the clothing racks and immediately doubted grandma’s fashion taste. This wasn’t actually something I would wear! Ever!

Finally I found something suitable for my age: a cute dress with flowers on it. I tried it on and gran was also pleased. Maybe we did have something in common after all…

Before going home, we had lunch at a nearby diner. The shopping day had been quite a nice distraction, the first time I had been into town after the death of my parents and siblings. I still didn’t completely comprehend…it felt like a nightmare from which I would awake any moment. But even though I was still hoping and waiting, the moment seemed delayed…

For the rest of the day I decided to just relax and confront the fears of changes that were about to happen. I love looking at the sky…it makes me feel I’m not alone and I know it’s the one thing that is the same everywhere.

As the day drew to an end, I got back in the house and slouched on my bed with a book. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies!

But it got dark really soon and I had to prepare my stuff for the next day. I had a really weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was going to highschool! But where were mom and dad when I needed them so much?

Chapter Two

Dear Diary,

Um…hi! Nice to meet you! I’m not exactly sure whether this is how you greet a diary…Anyways, grandpa Menas gave you to me. He said it helps keeping one, so here I am. Writing.

Today was my first day at highschool. It was kinda nice, I guess. It kept my mind off things, at least for a little while. I woke up early in the morning to get ready before eight – that’s when the school bus arrives. I felt really excited all to way to school. I had this unusual feeling in the pit of my stomach. Will the teachers like me? Will my classmates like me? Or will they all dislike me and make fun of me because I’m….I’m…an orphan?

When I got there, I was really amazed: my highschool looks GREAT! It’s really big and it even has a swimming pool! Though I highly doubt anyone’s used it in the past few years…

Then, there’s my classroom. It also looks great and it’s really cosy and nice.

Have you ever watched one of those teeny movies about American highschools? With all the cool kids and the geeks and all? Well, my highschool seems to follow the pattern: we aren’t too many kids in my class, just about eleven or so, but it seems everyone’s got labels already!

In the first row, on the first two seats, it’s the geek twins: Nathaniel and Nancy. You just can’t tell them apart, this is how much they look and act alike! It’s incredible! Go figure that the last seat next to them is empty!

Then, on the second row, it’s the queen bee, the princess, the ruler of the whole school: Regina! She’s got everything: looks, money, style, lots of clothing and boys literally swarm around her like some kind of starving flies. What can I say? She’s simply gorgeous, and of course, she knows it!

Next to her sits Ramona, Regina’s best friend. I think they’ve know each other since the day they were born. Ramona is beautiful, of course! But I think she’s different. She’s not as bad as Regina (you can already tell Regina’s a meanie!), she’s more quiet…but this seems to drive the guys crazy I guess…

After Ramona comes Marissa. She’s a cute kid, I think. Though I don’t exactly like her attitude…she’s always trying to crawl under Regina’s skin. She’s a short, skinny red head with a high pitched voice, but I kinda like her. Hope she won’t make friends with the wrong people.

The next row consists of three guys. First it’s Brandon, Regina’s boyfriend and…umm…you know, the gorgeous, hunky, wonderful, blue-eyed king bee that every girl in the whole school fantasies about. He really is charming…

His two friends sit next to him. Shichiro (his father is Japanese) and Jae. They’re all the cute guys. Shichiro is a little like Ramona, more quiet and usually looks a little sad… and Jae, he’s “da man”. ‘Nuff said about them!

The next row, with only two seats is where I sit (directly behind Brandon, oh my!). My “row friend” is this quite nice girl, Holly. She’s really talkative and friendly, but the thing that best describes her is fat. I really feel for her, I really do! She can barely sit at the desk and her a$$ usually drops over either sides of her chair. But she’s nice!

I think that’s about all…oh! I almost forgot about him. He sits at the very end of the class, all alone on a row and very close to the trash can. He’s something like an emo/weird kid: Sebastien. Sebastien’s all alone and everyone pretends he doesn’t exist. I haven’t even heard his voice yet. I guess he really deserves to be called “the weird kid”, but I don’t know. I kind of feel sorry for him…it’s like he doesn’t have anyone in the world, like no one would ever care or even notice if he would suddenly disappear one day. And this makes me really sad.

Well, now I’m home and it’s almost twelve o’clock. Think I should go to bed soon. But first I have to pay the cemetery a visit. I’ve been talking to the graves lately, it creeps me out sometimes. It’s like I’m going crazy! But deep down inside I have a feeling that my family can hear me. I’ll go now, diary, I’m getting up early again tomorrow …

Chapter Three

Dear Diary,

My grandparents are nutters! They really are! You won’t believe what I’m going to tell you!!! But, let’s leave the juiciest gossip for the end…let me tell you first about my school week. Yeah, can you believe how time flies? It’s already been a week since I began highschool …
Well, Regina’s still a b*tch ...which makes me despise me even more! She always kisses Brandon passionately in public! That makes me sooo mad!

I became quite good friends with Holly. She really is a nice person. I haven’t heard her bad mouth anyone, even though I can see people snickering behind her back, pointing and laughing. I’m positive she can see all this, but she pretends she doesn’t. I’m sure it hurts her badly…poor girl!

But this doesn’t stop her from being nice to everyone around her. She definitely hasn’t deceived my expectations!
Little Marissa on the other hand, has proved to be a real b*tch…just like Regina! Can you believe how low some people would sink just to make others like them? This is Marissa … she considers that making fun of Holly and laughing at her is going to instantly make her popular and Regina’s best friend. She makes me sick! I really thought she was going to be a sweet kid, but she turned out like this…it’s a pity!

Still, I’m not the only one being upset by the mean things said and done in this class. Ramona is always sad when she sees Marissa and Regina acting the way they do. It’s nice to see that a beautiful, popular kid can also be reasonable and not act like all b*tchy children, as though the world belongs to them and it is their right to make fun of people they consider inferior.

This attitude bugs me a lot. It isn’t those people's fault that they are born with hormonal problems that make them gain a lot of weight, it’s not their fault that they’re not born looking like supermodels…

I’d like to make Holly open up to me, because I could help her gain some more self respect. She isn’t ugly like she thinks and like the people around her make her feel. She’s just a little chubby, that’s all! Still, whenever I bring up the subject, she suddenly starts to pay attention to something else and pretends she hadn’t heard me.

I can understand though. We’ve only known eachother for one week, so it would be weird for her to start blabbering out all her fears, hopes and all her thoughts. I’ll just give her some time…

“The weird kid”, Sebastien is definitely a loner…he hadn’t talked to anyone yet. He doesn't seem to have any friends, and he sure acts like he doesn't need any. During classes, he just sits there at his desk, I’m sure his mind is somewhere far, far away from his vacant expression.

He only answers with monosilabic words when being asked something, sometimes even by the teachers. I wonder why he’s so lonely…he always disappears during breaks. I’ve got no idea where he goes, to be quite honest. Probably somewhere where he can be all alone.

Oh, and something new about me! I have recently realised how much I love painting. It calms me and helps me disconnect from the world. It feels so good!

I thinks my soul’s “wounds” are slowly beginning to heal…I have just started to realise the truth about death. Until now I have hoped that a miracle would happen and I would wake up some day and mom, dad, my brothers and my sister will all be there. This is not going to happen. Ever. It’s not like I have some kind of weird phone to call the Grim Reaper for their souls…This feeling, that there’s no chance to have my family back, hurts like he11, but I know I will feel better after realising my situation!

Oh, I have to go, diary! Grandma is calling me down for dinner! Guess I’ll have to share the juicy gossip later with you… :P

Okee…the new update is here! And it’s a really big one! :jig: I didn’t make it as a diary entry, because I wasn’t exactly in the mood for that :D Enjoy!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the action in this chappie happens before the other update. In chapter 3 she is writing about the events of the week and um...the "thing" that happens in this chapter. Sorry if I'm confusing anyone... :P

Chapter Four

It was a beautiful, bright Saturday morning. Shadee rolled grunting in her bed and opened slowly one eye to check on the time. It was 6:30.
‘No school day today…’ she mumbled, rolled on the other side and fell asleep for another three hours. Life definitely felt good!
She finally woke up to the cheerful chirping of birds.Yawn. Shadee slipped lazily out of bed and rubbed her eyes wearily, managing to stifle a yawn.

Without hurrying too much, she went to the bathroom to have a quick shower, then got dressed.
Downstairs, on the outdoor table was waiting a deliciously looking breakfast consisting of yummy pancakes, Shadee’s favorite meal! Grandma Gypsy and grandpa Menas came giggling to the table, whispering in each others’ ear. Something was strange about the two of them!
‘Good morning, dear!’ Gypsy smiled at the sight of her slightly dazzled granddaughter ‘Did you have a good rest?’
Shadee nodded.
‘I made your favorites today. Pancakes!’

Gypsy was beaming. She looked so different! Something was definitely changed. Grandpa Menas began to hum absentmindedly and eyed his wife lovingly. This was a really nice thing to witness. Both elderly people were nearing their “Sweet Seventies”, like they liked to call them, but were still in love like on the very first day. They had had five wonderful children and more grandchildren than they could count…
Shadee suddenly realised she had been sitting on the chair with the fork hovering in front of her mouth for a few minutes now. She smiled and continued to eat her breakfast.
After that, Gypsy and Menas headed for the living room to watch the news. It was a thing they loved to do after breakfast. Shadee had watched them before cuddling in front of the TV.

The girl, on the other hand, decided to have some fun that day. She wanted to change the usual routine and do something new. She went upstairs on the big balcony and looked out at the bright morning sky. It was really sunny and warm outside…a dip in the pool would be so refreshing!

Grinning from ear to ear, Shadee rushed to her room and changed in her old bathing suit. It still looked quite good on her! She didn’t have a pool at her parents’ house, so she hadn’t used it too many times…

Having checked her reflection in the mirror several times, Shadee went back downstairs, past her still cuddling grandparents and out in the dazzling sun. After throwing a doubtful glance at the dangerous looking diving board, Shadee decided to go for the ladder. It was safer so…

It really felt good to swim lazily around the cool water. Shadee felt so calm and at ease. Nothing was going to take her out of the swimming pool until lunch! And so it happened. Shadee swam and floated around the surface of the water for a few good hours; her fingers and toes were all shriveled up when grandma Gypsy finally called everybody for a quick lunch.

‘Something smells good!’ smiled Shadee entering the kitchen ‘Grandma! You’ve made falafel! You know how much I love it!’
Gypsy smiled satisfied with herself, but Shadee saw her exchange grins with her grandfather. Once again, the feeling that the two of them were keeping something from her came back to the surface. She didn’t say anything about it though and continued to wolf down the delicious meal.

‘I think I’m going to get some sleep after lunch’ Shadee announced half through her plate of falafel ‘Swimming really got me tired.’

‘But it’s really fun, isn’t it!’ giggled grandpa Menas ‘I like swimming once in a while too. If only my joints didn’t hurt…’

Shadee smiled bemused. She suddenly felt a wave of soft feelings for her grandparents. They had been the best substitutes for her parents she could have imagined. A weird thought shot through her mind: if her family hadn’t died would she have got to know her grandparents so well and love them so much? All of a sudden, her eyes began to burn and her throat seemed stuck with something huge; she could barely swallow the piece of falafel from her mouth.

‘Grandma, grandpa, I love you so much!’ she burst out crying and looked at both of them tearfully.

A big group hug happened afterwards in which everyone cried, even grandpa Menas. Then awkward silence followed.

‘Let’s just all get some rest.’ Smiled Gypsy and ushered them out of the kitchen.

Shadee went upstairs to her room and prepared her bed for a short, refreshing nap. She didn’t exactly like to sleep at noon, but her head hurt a little from staying too much in the sun and sleeping seemed to be the best thing to do.

And she was right. After resting for about an hour she felt as good as new. Descending into the living room, Shadee found her grandma sitting all alone on the couch.

‘Hey there, honey!’ she smiled and beckoned her to sit next to her’ I was actually waiting for you.’

Eyebrows raised, Shadee headed for the couch. She had a distinct feeling Gypsy hadn’t slept at all. But why was she waiting for her?

‘I’d like to tell you something.’ She began ‘Your grandfather and I have been thinking about this for quite some time now…but we’d like to ask you first. To be sure you’d be okay with this.’

Okay with what?
Gypsy cleared her throat audibly. She seemed to be having a really hard time saying what she wanted to say.

‘You know how much we love children, don’t you, dear?’ she asked, looking Shadee in the eyes ‘We love hearing little footsteps around the house, having a little one to take care of.’

It began to dawn on Shadee what her grandma wanted to tell her, but she kept quiet and listened on.

‘While I was young, the house was full of children. But then they all grew up, one by one, and left the house to have their own families. What me and Menas would like is to adopt a child.’ She beamed at her granddaughter happily.

Shadee immediately jumped to her feet. Gypsy stood worriedly up too.
‘You want to what?!?’

‘Honey, don’t get this wrong! We’re not trying to replace your father! No one’s ever going to do this…we just need to feel useful and…’ her voice trailed off.

Millions of thoughts went through Shadee’s mind. She had clearly not expected this!

‘ But grandma…don’t you think it’s a little too late to adopt?’ Shadee’s voice sounded coarse ‘You know, you’re almost seventy years old. Raising a child takes time and patience and-’

She stopped and looked into her grandmother’s eyes. It was clear she had expected this reaction from her. But wasn’t she right? Even if she hated to even think of this, Shadee’s knew that her grandparents could die any time at that age.

‘I know what you’re thinking, Shadee.’ Gypsy sighed ‘Me and Menas could die any day now. But I’ve got this covered. I’ve already talked to the adoption agency and we are allowed to get a child. If anything bad happens to us in the next few years, the little girl or boy will go live with one of our children. I was thinking about your uncle Zenyth, he says he’s alright with this. If this happens more years from now and you’re alright with this you could…you know…take our place as a parent.’

Shadee looked once again at her grandmother. She seemed so excited and happy about this, that she couldn’t deny her this pleasure.

‘Well, if you’re sure this is what you and grandpa want…I’m totally okay with it!’ she smiled widely.

Her grandparents were ecstatic when they heard this. Just couldn’t believe their ears. They spent the rest of the day talking about it. Were they going to adopt a girl or a boy? How old will the child be? How will they decorate the room? Shadee found her self getting really excited at the thought too. A few days from then a little aunt or uncle was going to roam the house, nibbling on books, making a lot of noise and stuff that small children usually do. But this thought seemed to give her wings!

Ahem, yet again a double post...but a promise is a promise... it's a little short, but i hope y'all enjoy it! It's the last update because I'm going on holiday! Yay! for 2 weeks like...ummm...I said in the post above! :D

Chapter Five

On Monday, another series of events followed. As always, Shadee woke up in the morning, had her usual bathroom routine, munched down breakfast, then took the bus to school. Yet another boring school day was about to begin.

Shadee looked around the classroom. She was the first one to arrive to school, besides the nerd twins, who didn’t exactly count.

Sighing, she let herself fall on the chair of her desk then put her head on one arm and tried to take a nap.

But sure enough, no one was going to let her. The bell rang and the “Big Six” entered the class chatting loudly about the newest gossip. Shadee looked up, threw one loving glance at Brandon, then began to take out her school books for the first hour. After the break was over, the teacher came in: Miss Dora, their head teacher. She was the sweetest thing, in her early twenties, just graduated from university. Her lifetime dream had been to become a teacher and her dream had fulfilled that year: it was the first time she was beginning to teach. Being so young, she insisted that everyone should simply call her “Dora”.

Shadee looked around the classroom. Where was Holly? She was never late, especially when the first class was with Miss Dora. She liked her a lot. The girl looked worriedly at the empty place next to her. Had something happened to her friend? Did she get attacked or something on the way to school? Shadee had to check around!

‘Miss Dora!’ she raised a hand ‘May I please go to the bathroom?’

‘Sure, Shadee! Go ahead. Just try to get back quickly.’ Dora winked and the girl was already at the door.

She hadn’t even made a few paces when a heart tearing sob drifted to her from the girls’ bathroom. As slowly and soundlessly as she could, Shadee opened the door ajar to check the room. And sure enough, in front of a cubicle was Holly, her head in her hands, crying her heart out.

‘Holly?’ she barely whispered, trying not to startle her ‘Is everything okay?’

At first, Holly didn’t answer, but started crying even harder. Shadee approached her and began to pat her shoulder gently.

‘It’s okay, I’m here!’

The poor girl slowly leaned on Shadee protective shoulder and continued to sob.

‘Everyone hates me!’ Holly finally whispered ‘Everyone makes fun of me because I’m fat! I hate this. I want this to stop!’

Shadee felt really sorry for her. Up until then, she had thought her friend didn’t find it too hard to get over all the offending words that were being thrown at her, but this proved her wrong.

‘There were these older kids in the school yard.’ Holly continued ‘I was walking up the stairs, minding my own business, but they began to shout hurtful things and made fun of me and laughed. I really wanted to get out of there as soon as possible! But they started to throw paper balls at me and one of them - one of them-’

She couldn’t continue to tell her what the boy had done, but it wasn’t necessary. Shadee had already spotted a big, gross phlegm trailing down Holly’s nape.

If she had pitied her a lot before, the feelings Shadee now had couldn’t be described! She hated the guts of “the older kids”, she would have killed them on the spot if they had been there in the same room. Instead, she grabbed a piece of paper and gently rubbed off the slimy saliva.

‘You know what, Holly? You’re too much of a good and beautiful person to be upset by a bunch of losers!’

‘Me? Beautiful?’ snorted Holly with a bitter smile playing on her lips ‘Shadee, you can’t even know how I feel. I disgust myself! Look at my body! The fat trembles when I walk!’ she sighed, gradually regaining her composure

‘Well, this is something that can be solved!’ Shadee smiled reassuringly ‘No, don’t laugh! Listen to me I could help you loose some weight if you’d let me! You always eat junk food and that’s really bad, you avoid sports…’

Holly looked her in the eyes.
‘I really can’t help eating. I eat a lot. When I’m hungry, when I’m upset, when I’m sad, when I have problems…’ her voice trailed off.

To Shadee it was clear as daylight that Holly didn’t lead too much of a healthy life. And she was seriously worried about her eating habits. Something had to be done before it would be too late!

‘You know what? I am going to take care that you only eat healthy food at school and from now on we’ll be going to the gym every day after classes! Trust me, having someone be there for you and going with you helps a lot!’ she grinned happily at the prospect.

Holly looked up at her with tear-smeared cheeks.

‘Would you really do this to take care of me?’ she whispered sadly.

Shadee nodded. It was that moment that really made their friendship stronger. There, in a stinky toilet on the first floor, an everlasting friendship was made.

I love your story cory : the "pattern" is sweet and great...It's a real story : no aliens, no triplets...It's really realistic ( not that i do not like vampires stories but we need something like that)

Awww... I can definitely relate to poor Holly... I hate ignorant people who pick on others because they're overweight. Especially overweight people who don't have a choice because they have some kind of health problem that causes weight gain. I hope Shadee can work really hard and help Holly get herself to a healthy weight... Hopefully she won't be corrupted by those snotty girls in her class.
Hope she doesn't try to date Brandon, either. More often than not those kinds of popular pretty boys have more muscle than brains, and turn out to be really mean.
Can't wait to read more about the baby Shadee's grandparents are going to adopt, too. I wonder how she'll deal with it! :D

Chapter Six

Dear Diary,

Remember me? Yeah, sure you do! We haven’t spoken for a few days, have we? Right…well, I had a really pleasant day today. Like always, I woke up, had breakfast, then went to school. Nothing new here. But when I got back, the house was deserted.

I found a note from grandma in my room that she and my grandfather were out to sign some papers for their child. Pretty cool, huh?

It seemed to not take too long because they got back home just as I had finished my homework for the next day. They were pretty excited and could barely find the calm to tell me that my little aunt or uncle was going to arrive that evening. I think you could believe me when I told you I couldn’t stand still for the rest of the day.

And then, it arrived! A screeching sound outside the house and a blue van was parked on the other side of the road. I was downstairs in the living room, spying through the window.

A stuck up woman emerged from the van. I can’t exactly say I like her, she seems to be a bad person! She went to the backseat of the van, drew the door open and carried my new relative out!

It’s a little boy! She came inside and put my uncle gently on the floor, then went to talk something with my grandparents. I had time to spend some moments with my new uncle Caleb.

Yes, this is his name. And he is the most adorable little boy you’ve ever seen! Smooth, red hair and gorgeous blue eyes.

What kind of mother had he had to give away such a jewel? But I found out after the social worker had left. Little Caleb came from a very poor family that consisted of five other children. The parents could no longer take proper care of him and, as he was the youngest, they decided to give him up for adoption. It was a very tough decision as they were loving parents, but the lack of money had given them a hard blow. Both the parents had lost their jobs due to a cut of personnel at the firm where they worked.

You know, diary, I love little Caleb to bits. Since the very first moment I saw him, I felt this incredible warmth creep through my whole body, filling the gap the loss of my parents had left behind. Maybe this is what I actually needed to heal: someone to love and care for. I am determined to protect my little uncle no matter what, I’ll never let anything bad happen to him!

He doesn’t actually have a room yet, for now he will sleep in uncle Zenyth’s old crib and in his room, but grandma promised she will let me redecorate it and buy the new furniture. I’m totally going to have a blast!

And now, on to answering some questions!

Well, xsamx29 said that Caleb looks a little like Shadee, but no, I assure everyone that there was no link betweeen Caleb and any member of Shadee's huge family prior to the adoption. His life story is really true; he was born in a poor family that was unable to raise him. :)

And to a "frequently asked question": How did I get Caleb (made by me in Body Shop) be adoptable? Well, you're right, he most definately is no Maxis kid! :D What you have to do is: create a kid, either a tot or a child, make him/her a family (it would be best to only make a parent), move them in on a lot and either neglect the poor child until the social worker comes (but this is a bit cruel) or kill the parent using InSim to make it quicker. The social worker will come, take the child and he/she will now be the first adoptable child in the adoption bin! :D If I wasn't clear enough with the explanation, ask away! :)

Hey there guys, I've written the first part of chappie seven and thought I should share. Enjoy! :D

Chapter 7- Part I

Shadee felt a tingling sensation in her stomach. It seemed impossible, but here she was, his soft, warm breath brushing against her face. His body felt so good! Her hands wandered down his manly back and the tingling sensation intensified , covering her spine entirely. She smiled.

‘I love you, Brandon!’ she whispered gently in his ear.

‘I love you too, Shadee!’ the boy answered looking her lovingly in the eyes.

Shadee was happy, she really was. She finally had him, only for her.

‘Grandma! What the heck are you doing here?!?’ Shadee jumped to her feet as grandma Gypsy appeared out of nowhere in her little paradise.

‘I wouldn’t be bothering you, hun, but your eggs are getting cold.’ The old lady answered bemused ‘Come one, it’s seven already!’

Shadee wearily opened her eyes against the dazzling morning light. Why? Why in the world did her grandma have to wake her up? She was having the most wonderful dream! Grandma Gypsy had no idea how hard it was to make her brain give her such sweet dreams. During the last month (a month had passed since the adoption of Caleb) she had only dreamt of Brandon five times and this was the second time he actually looked at her and the first time they kissed, well in her dream at least.

‘I hate Mondays!’ she muttered under her breath as she scrambled out of the warm bed ‘I hate waking up when I’m dreaming!’

‘I know dear, but school is school.’ Her grandma replied ‘I had to wake you up at half past six, but you were sleeping so peacefully. You were actually smiling to be more precise.’

‘Yeah, I was umm…dreaming I got an A+ at Math.’ Shadee muttered back while brushing her teeth.

‘Yeah, hun.’ Gypsy answered a little ironically ‘I’ll be waiting downstairs for you, okay?’

After Shadee had finished getting ready, she went down for breakfast. Her grandparents were already sitting at the table, probably waiting for her. Little Caleb was in his wonderfully renovated room, still sleeping.

‘Shadee, dear.’ Grandmother Gypsy began after the girl had sat down ‘Me and your grandpa would like to have a little talk with you.’

‘Uh huh.’ She answered shortly expecting another weird piece of news like the time she had found out about Caleb’s adoption.

‘Now that you are in highschool, we totally understand you’re no longer a child.’ Gypsy continued slowly and painfully. She seemed to have a hard time saying what she wanted to say ‘You see, at a certain age, young people start having distinct desires…’

Shadee almost chocked on her eggs and bacon. This is what all the fuss was about!

‘Grandma, no need to continue’ she said bemused after successfully swallowing her food ‘Mum had already had the “birds and bees” talk with me when I was like ten.’

‘Uh. Oh. Ok, hun!’

Awkward silence followed and spread throughout the whole breakfast. In Shdee opinion this ordeal had been incredibly amusing. Like any teenager, she already knew all that stuff, even more than her grandparents would have liked.

She ran quickly upstairs to check on Caleb before going to wait for the schoolbus. He was still sleeping in his little crib. He had really got used to his new family. He loved them all, especially Shadee. She loved to play with him after coming home.

Chapter 7, Part II

Shadee sighed deeply and continued to gaze lovingly at the back of Brandon’s head. His hair looked so soft, so smooth… she almost reached out her hand to touch it, but she thought better of it.

Her mature, grown-up part knew she was stupid and Brandon was definitely not her dream boy. Still there was this crazy attraction that didn’t leave her alone, as far as Shadee was concerned Brandon was a huge, walking magnet and she was just a hopeless piece of metal…

‘Today, class, we’ll do something different!’ rang Miss Dora’s cheerful voice, waking Shadee up from her little daydream ‘I have here eleven pieces of folded paper with numbers on them. They are numbered from 0 to 5: there is one 0, two 1s, two 2s, two 3s, two 4s and two 5s. As you may have guessed, we will be doing a group project!’

Enthusiastic cheers erupted from the front of the class. Nathaniel and Nancy just couldn’t keep the happiness for themselves at the news. What a pair of nerds!

‘Each of you will grab a piece of paper from the bowl and tell me the number written on it. One of you, the one who gets the 0 will be working alone. I’m really sorry for that.’ She added, making a pitiful grimace.

She stood up and offered the bowl to every member of the class. Shadee grabbed a piece of paper with trembling fingers and grinned nervously at Holly. She was so excited to find out who she’s be working with. Hopefully, it was going to be Holly.

Miss Dora returned to her desk after having shared the pieces of paper.
‘Let’s see now what groups you guys have made.’ She smiled; it was fairly obvious she enjoyed this quite a lot ‘Nathaniel?’

‘I have a three, Miss!’ he answered excitedly and craned his neck trying to catch a glimpse of his sister’s paper. She unfolded it quickly and tried to hide it away from her brother for a few more seconds.

‘I have one, Miss Dora!’ she eventually answered.

‘Okay.’ The teacher wrote down Nancy’s number in her notebook ‘Regina?’

With the usual bored expression, Regina unfolded her piece of paper and read the number with raised eyebrows.

‘Ewww! I have a three! Can I change it?’ she asked, looking as though she was about to puke.

‘I’m sorry, dear, but no. You and Nathaniel will make a pair for the project.’

The boy turned around and gave Regina his most dazzling smile, which actually was a perverted grin. Nerd hormones on the loose. Deep down inside though, Shadee was beginning to enjoy this; Regina was getting what she deserved.

‘Ramona?’ Miss Dora continued, ignoring Regina’s disgusted expression.

‘I have a’ she unfolded the paper ‘five, Professor.’

‘Okaaay. Marissa?’

‘Two.’ She was trying to copy Regina’s bored expression, but she looked plainly stupid.

‘Right. Now, Mr Brandon.’ She smiled encouragingly; yet another thing that was clear: Brandon’s charms could even reach the heart of teachers…

‘I have a four, Miss.’ He smiled seductively.

Next, Shichiro got a two and got paired up with Marissa. And poor Jae had the “great” bad luck to have chosen the number “one”, his partner becoming Nancy.

‘Shadee?’ Miss Dora asked, almost having reached the end of the class.

Shadee’s hands had begun to tremble and it seemed that the piece of paper had been glued tightly. Finally she got it to unfold and almost screamed with delight: she had a four! She was going to make the project with none other than Brandon!

After her, Holly got a five and got paired with Ramona. The girl turned to Holly and gave her a warm, friendly smile. Shadee would have had more time to congratulate Holly and feel happy for her, had she not had Brandon as a partner; but she was too ecstatic to think of anyone else but herself…and Brandon…

‘Now that leaves you, Sebastien.’ Miss Dora sighed ‘You have the zero, right?’

‘Yes, Professor.’

Muffled laughter from the cool rows.. Shadee didn’t laugh though. She suddenly didn’t feel as happy as a minute ago. Sadness overwhelmed her and disgust at most of the class: Nathaniel, Nancy, Regina, Marissa, Brandon, Shichiro and Jae, all had turned around to see Sebastien’s reaction. They were grinning with satisfaction that “the emo weirdo” was alone…again.

After the lesson was over, Shadee pulled her guts together and went to Brandon. Regina and Marissa weren’t anywhere near, so it was easier to talk to him.

‘Umm…Brandon?’ she asked shyly, interrupting him from a very interesting discussion he had with Jae about flavored condoms.

‘Yeah, babe.’ He answered and turned to face her, a dazzling smile playing on his lips.

Shadee just couldn’t answer right away. She had to lock this memory somewhere in her mind and keep it forever. He had just called her babe!

‘You know we’ve been paired together for the project and I just wanted to ask you when and where we could meet.’

‘My house is under renovation.’ He pouted ‘We can meet at you place, right?’

Shadee felt her knees give way. Brandon, at her place? In her bedroom? Sitting on her bed?

‘Yeah, sure!’ she said quickly, fearing he would change his mind ‘Today’s Monday, is it okay for Wednesday? Or Thursday?’

‘I think I could squeeze you on Wednesday into my program.’ He thought for a few seconds ‘Wednesday at five. Is it ok, babe?’

‘Yeah.Yeah!’ she answered, trying not to show how excited she was about the whole thing ‘Can you give me your number, please, just in case…’

‘Sure, babe. Here you go, give me a buzz and I’ll add you to my agenda later.’

She floated back to her seat with an unwipeable grin on her face. Holly was smiling too, she seemed genuinely happy for Shadee. As her best friend, she was aware of the girl’s huge crush on Brandon.

The rest of the day faded in a blur of lessons, gym with Holly and then home where Shadee turned all her attention to the little bundle called Caleb.

Chapter 8, Part I

On Wednesday morning, Shadee awoke with a start. As she regained her composure from the dreamy state, she realised today was the big day. Today, Brandon would come over to her house and they were going to make a project together. Five o’clock seemed so far away and yet so close!

Having arrived at school, she continued to stare at the back of Brandon’s head, a thing she adored to do. She just didn’t care that probably everyone would guess she is head over heels in love with him.

Old Professor Blackadder began the lesson with his monotonous voice, getting everyone in a weird trance, on the verge of falling asleep.

‘Where is Mr Bronfield?’ he suddenly stopped his rant and furrowed his brow at the last row of the class.

Everybody turned around and just then did they realise Sebastien was missing.

For once, Shadee’s thoughts took another path. She had a bad feeling about this, she even remembered the first days of school. Her own thoughts were coming back in a wave “ Sebastien’s all alone and everyone pretends he doesn’t exist”, “it’s like no one would ever care or even notice if he would suddenly disappear one day”. She made up her mind.

‘Holly, I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to go with you to the gym today.’

‘Huh? And why is that, Shadee? You know I don’t have the guts to go all alone…’ she stopped and watched Shadee pack the books on her desk ‘What – what are you doing? We’ve still got two classes!’

‘I’m skipping school for the rest of the day.’ The girl answered calmly.

‘What?!? You can’t do that! You’ll get yourself into a lot of trouble!’

‘I just want to go to Sebastien’s house and check if he’s okay and all. I asked Miss Dora to give me his address.’

‘What?! Why would you do that? You don’t even know him!’

‘Yeah, I know, I know. It’s just that…’ she finished unpacking and looked Holly in the eyes; she didn’t exactly know what to answer. It was her gut feeling that gave her nudges and pushed her out of the classroom door ‘I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you, okay?’ she yelled over her shoulder, then walked down the stairs and out into the street.
