Last SimPE

After installing the IKEA pack I had to update my current version of SimPE. I downloaded SimPe_0_73_44-QA but it is not set up as an automatic install. So what do I do with it? How do I install it? There was absolutely nothing that I could find on the SimPE site to help.

Read the instructions on the news page where you found the thread to download it.

In other words, make a folder for it, then run 7zip to extract it to that folder. Then find SimPe.exe in that folder to run it, or make a shortcut yourself that points to it.

Do Not put it into an existing SimPe folder! It needs a clean installation.

You will also need to fix the file associations to point to it.

Before, all I had to do is unzip it with WinRAR and everything was done automatically for me, so seeing all of these folders and files and stuff is new to me. What do I do to fix the file association?

Right click a package file, select open with, then click the browse button, then browse for the new .exe file in the folder you placed in Program Files, check the box(if there) to make as default. Vista and XP vary slightly, but the process is the same for both basically.

I uninstalled version 0.72. I made a folder for the new version 0.73 in the programs folder. I opened 7z and told it to extract. When it was done it listed alot of the stuff as no able to open. When I looked in the folder that I created for it the folder was empty even though 7z says that it is not. So what have I messed up?

Of course winRAR would have trouble; .7z is a proprietary method. But I have no idea why 7-zip was having trouble extracting a 7-zip file unless it got corrupted in the download.

That is completely un-true. WinRar will open .7z files just fine it is a supported format.

Sorry. My mistake.

But that makes a corrupted download even more likely.

Have you tried right clicking the zipped simpe file, and selecting unrar to "simpe"? There is an option in winrar and 7zip when right clicking to unarchive to a folder of the same name as the archive file.

Hi I had the same problem with the 7z. I selected everything except the .exe file and pressed extract. Then went back again and extracted the .exe file to the same folder. That worked and allowed me to run simPe.
