If I back up my Sims 3 Documents/Program Files folders, uninstall the game, reinstall it, and replace the folders, will I still have my families and CC?

I want to use indie stone mod, but I've got the updated patches.

If you have patched past 1.27 than IndieStone is no longer compatible with TS3. They stopped updating when patch 1.3 came out. The only way you would still be able to have Indie functionality would be run Awesomemod Compatible Indie and I believe that even that is no longer supported either by Pescado or Lemmie101

So even if I uninstall the game, when I reinstall it the patches would have still been updated?

Why dont you just download patch 1.27, install that,
and start your game without the launcher.
Then you can be sure that you only have the updates that you want.

I just had to format c: , my game is installed to d:.
Saved all EA Data in My Documents, on another partition.

Upon starting the game, it had me reinstall it, which i did,
patched manually to 1.27.
Put all my files back into my documents .
.package files in the my documents, EA, downloads, folder had to be reinstalled.

Everything works just fine. I only have Patch 1.27 , since i refuse to install later
patches.
My families are there, just as i left them :)

Ah , and just to be sure, that my Mods Folder was untouched, i renamed it,
after install named it back to the original name :)

If you uninstall you have two choices - run the game completely unpatched (which may or may not run Indie, I'm not sure) or patch it completely and use AwesomeMod with Indie. From what I've read, there's no way to just patch it to a certain point any more. You may be able to download 1.3, but that is basically useless anyway, considering the last update only fixed two issues that were caused by 1.3. Either way, Indie Stone may or may not work. Why are you reinstalling?

Mentica: Where can I download patch 1.27? I went to the Sims website but was unable to find a link to click.

Haylz: For some reason, I can't get a hold of Awesomemod. It seems like moreawesomethanyou.com is down.

Yes, the site is down. There's a link at the bottom of the first page (I think) with a mirror site you can download it from: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=369899

I'm using the NRaas Story Progression mod and it's awesome!

I use it with AwesomeMod. Just make sure to disable Awesomemod story progression if you use both. Also, make sure you download the Work Pusher to use with the NRaas Story mod. But it's based on ISM but 100x better IMHO!
