I know that I'm not allowed to asked "where-to-find"questions, but in this case it might be tollerated because I do not sek custom content, but I would like to know what software I need to be able to make new things. I have lots and lots of ideas, but I do not know what software is the most suiteble to make new meshes. For the coloring and the patterns Photoshop must do.

Anyone any suggestions (preferably virus-free freeware).

I'm not a creator, but if you read the tutorials on this site they generally seem to tell you the software to use:

It's probably better to ask this question over in the create section, they have creator forums for both Sims 2 and Sims 3, or to just explore the 'Create' section at the top of the page.
