View Full Version : Basement with foundations

I am trying to create a realistic old style Victorian era mansion. The problem is that I want it to have a decent basement, but to keep it realistic, I need to also make it have a foundation. Does anyone know of a way to get a foundation to work over a basement? Any help appreciated.

You can build a foundation over a basement - you just have to have a stair landing on the ground level and then down into the basement. Or you can use the old Sims 2 basement method of cutting out the center of your foundation and digging down in it - it creates a border of 1 wasted tile all around the edges, but you also don't have to deal with the black void of a "real" basement.

HP's method is preferred. The basement tool, although allowing more basement levels, is severely *In my opinion* unattractive, and disrupts the flow of the house itself, as you go down a floor and are met with a black screen.

It is entirely possible to construct a Sims 2 style basement and then expand it even more using the WA basement tool. Plus, the black void is realistic. I guarantee if I bury your face in the dirt like that, you, too, will see only a black void.
