buy mode recoloring

I'm trying to create a house in build mode, but I can't figure out how to custom color items. I know how to do it in create a sim, and I see that they can be recolored by hitting the randomize button, but is there a way to do it similar to the CAS recolor?

Yes, click the palet icon then click the item you want to recolor, the patern and material choices will load for you just as they do in CAS.

Whether you're in Build or Buy mode, it works the same. Once you learn the concept you can apply it to Buy Objects or Build Objects.

Click on Build Mode
click on the item you want (door, window, wall covering, etc)
Click on the style you want or just accept the default
Place the item where you want it
Click on the "Create a Style" button
Then click on the item you want to recolor and/or change the pattern

each item has 1 - 4 color/pattern channels to edit
choose from the desired pattern category
choose the color for the pattern

When you're happy with the changes, Click on the Accept button
