The “Sit Back & Watch Challenge.”
I have been playing different families like this for a while and at first its VERY frustrating but after a while its quite fun! Im not sure if there are similar challenges out there so if there is I apologize in advance.
What you need to do it create a family of 8 Sims comprising of 4 adults, 2 teens, 1 child and 1 toddler. The teens, kid and toddler can be related to which ever adults you wish. You may NOT alter the Sims personality points at all! Whatever you get has to stay, you can only choose the turn on/off, aspirations and looks!
You can either move them into a blank lot or a pre-made house, you are allowed to use any money cheats you wish. You can make the house as elaborate or dumpy as you want.
Then all you do is just sit back and watch! Might sound lame and boring but believe me it can be very funny and entertaining. There will be times where you feel like screaming! LOL
So NO controlling your Sims at all EXCEPT when you need a Sim to pay the bills (unless you have a cheat or hack that automatically pays the bills). That means no canceling actions either! Basically just dont touch the mouse!!! You can also fix any glitches that may arise by any means needed (i.e a Sim gets stuck and you need to move them).
You must use boolProp to get your adult Sims a job (or use any other hack.cheats you have). Each adult Sim MUST choose a job except one of them. If you really dont want to use boolProp or hacks/cheats then it is ALLOWED to make your sims get jobs normally but each one must take the first job offered. There must always be one adult Sim at home (to make sure there is always someone to look after the toddler). As soon as the toddler ages you can get that Sim a job.
You cannot hire a Nanny, Butler, Repairman or delivery. If something breaks just replace it, if you run out of food just replace the fridge. Make sure you add a fire alarm/sprinkler and security alarm to the home as you wont be able to call any emergency services.
You are allowed to use a cheat to max any or all or your Sims skills as you wont be able to direct them to learn. You can also cheat to give all Sims permanent Platinum Aspiration as you wont be able to fulfill any of their wants.
You may NEVER use maxmotives or ANY motives cheats at any time!
All kids and teens MUST attend school so NO cheats/hacks to get them out of it! Believe it or not its actually a great advantage having your Sims attend school and work because it guarantees your Sims to a meal (they always eat at work and school). All homework must be deleted as you cant direct your Sims to complete it and the social worker will show up if you let it pile up!
Many times your Sims will bring a friend home from work or school and this is great as they can build a friendship with your family (without any help from you of course). Often those Sims will call you up later on for a chat so ensure that you have a phone on your lot. You may NOT accept any invitations to a downtown lot if one is offered.
Its up to you whether you play chance cards or not.
Each time a Sim dies you MUST replace them with a Sim of the same age as they were when they entered the house. SO for example, Sam dies as a teenager but he entered the house as a toddler therefore you must replace him with a toddler....do this by using boolProp to spawn the Tombstone of L&D and create another Sim . If any Sims are taken away by the social worker they must also be replaced.
SCORING:
+10 every time a Sim serves a group meal (believe me it wont happen as often as you would like!)
+ 50 each time a Sim in your home makes a friend
+ 30 each time a Sim gets a promotion
+ 100 each time a Sim has a birthday (it means they survived till the next life stage!!)
+ 200 for each Sim that becomes an Elder
- 5 Each time a Sim burns a meal
- 10 Each time there is a fire (not including fires from lightening)
- 50 for each Sim that starves to death
- 20 for each Sim that passes out
-15 each time a Sim has bladder failure
- 100 each time the Social Worker shows up
Tips:
Add a kids stove to the home so that your child Sims can prepare a muffin if they wish. Sometimes they may starve otherwise. If you have the Pets EP then you can add a pet bed so that a toddler can put themselves to bed in it when they are tired. This also prevents toddlers from being left in cribs for hours on end. You are allowed to use any cheats/hacks to get your toddler potty trained and able to walk and talk.
Don’t add things in the home that your Sims will posses over such as exercise bikes, pianos , guitars etc. otherwise you may find that your Sims spend HOURS using these items and it will severely affect their motives (unless you want that to happen!)
If a Sim dies then its up to you whether the grave is kept on the lot or deleted.
The challenge ends whenever 3 different Sims have reached old age or you get sick of it!

i REALLY want to do this challenge. i want to see if i can do it. it'll be really hard for me not to step in to their lives.
i think with where my game is at, they take care of themselves enough that they don't die in my game. i'm sure they'll manage- though i'm a bit worried for the toddler.
haha, for this challenge i'd like to suggest the automatic bill payer from simwardrobe.com and monique's auto do homework mod (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=105857) to make life a bit easier for the challenge.
i would also recommend the insiminator for additional cheats that need to be used. :)

here's the family i'm starting with. this is before i build their house.
i can tell it's going to be chaotic already. i've never built a house for 8 sims before.
i also have casual romance and acr installed. there should be some interesting romance pursuing.. i can't wait to see who hooks up with who. :D

so far, not much has happened but something i thought was interesting:

they both decided to go relax on the bed together (at the same time) and i thought they were going to do the autonomous woohoo, but they ended up just relaxing and talking about woohoo.

I've sometimes used a version of this when I create 8 elders to test a house layout. I just create random elders and let them go until they die off (pay bills for them and occasionally alter house layout to fix poor traffic patterns). This also gets me a group of ghosts for the hood. I seldem have had any die early (I have burglar and fire alarms) and occasionally have one die in platinum (typically a very neat sim who cleans there way into heaven....and sometimes the ghost comes back to clean the toilet at night!).

A few hours ago, I decided to try out your challenge; I usually play with free will on, so this would be fun and relatively easy, and even removed all behaviour tweaks just for the lulz.
Fun and easy, my butt. Now I feel like slapping every moronic little pixel person from here to next friday.
-You have designated bed rooms. How about sleeping in your bed instead of napping in the living room where people come to watch tv, waking you up, destroying what little sense of circadian rhythm you might have?
-All facilities have been provided, how about you go take a bath instead of yelling to no one in particular about how you need a bath?
-If about to starve to death and/or pee yourself, the logical thing to do is of course to go cuddle under the stars with your significant other instead. (No.)
-The toddler is sleepy. Let her sleep. She does not need a fifth bath before bedtime 'just to be sure'.
Just to mention a few of my favorite moments from these last few hours.
Thank you for an interesting challenge, eventually reminding me of why I installed those mods to begin with .

lol...
I did this once, except with a husband and wife. I got the wife pregnant beforehand and set up a nursery for them. I had no mods at this time. Let me tell you, IT WAS FREAKING TORTURE to watch my sims.
(in my sims minds)
-look, a swing! I will swing hours on end while my partner complains for me to get off so they can swing!-
-I am going to sit on the excercise bike and workout till I pass out!-
-I am going to make a toaster pastry, put it in the oven, and walk away to write in my diary!-
-I am going to stand by the fire and scream my head off and block the way of the fireman!-
-I am going to calmly walk a few feet away from the fire, then start screaming my head off again-
-I am going to have my baby, then set her on the floor, then watch some tv-
-I am going to feed my baby, set the bottle on the floor, then get another bottle out-
-I am going to look at the hail outside the window while my baby needs a diaper change-
-I am going to sit and watch tv while my baby needs to become a toddler-

This sounds fun! But... I don't think my computer can handle any more downloading so the pay-bills-thing and the do-your-homework-thing is out of my reach. I'm gonna try it anyway. And I will sell the homeworks and once every 3th day I will control a sim to pay the bills. That way, I hope that I can get going with this challange. And, I will keep the family going. That means when the toddler is adult, I will make her have a child. No matter what. (I hate when a family ends, I always got to have at least one more generation... Or maybe two.=D)

This challenge was brilliant! :) My kids got taken away three times, and in the end everyone died - there were only five of my original simmies remaining! My teens grew up pretty ok, but the kids kept getting taken away just before they transitioned :( It was a lot harder than I thought to just sit back and let my little pixel people suffer :) I need to try this again - and see if I can get my original kids to grow up!

Wow. I just started this and it is really funny so far. I haven't been scoring- too hard to keep track- but some crazy stuff has happened, especially since I installed ACR a few days ago.
I have two families: the Crazy family and the Cuckoo family :) They live in kind of two houses, connected by a porch:
http://i47.tinypic.com/2i2bhj8.jpg
Somehow, the social worker never came, but I got the child stove, there were still some close calls though.
Well, nobody EVER sleeps in the right bed, so one of my adult sims from the Crazy family decided to sleep with a child from the Cuckoo family. Didn't turn out so well - she had a memory for "Had An Affair With (Childname)" ... Ummmm...
Then once the toddler grew up (I had to use a cake):
http://i48.tinypic.com/99j9t0.jpg
One adult from each family (Antonio Crazy and Madasha Cuckoo) were both home. (Antonio had a day off and Madasha stayed at home.)
You can pretty much guess what happened next. It certainly made the game more dramatic...
And finally, the dreaded Bathroom Gathering with the Newsons:
http://i48.tinypic.com/jk9kki.jpg
After that, one of the moms came in and tried to talk with her daughter.
Oh, and the other mom kept on trying to tickle the other family's daughter. Right now their score is in the negatives. When will they learn? Obviously never.

I played for 1 sim-week, and nobody died. Big surprise! Nothing really special happened, there was a fire atleast every other day and group meal was served one_single_time. I felt sorry for the kid and toddler, they were neglected alot. As usual, I got bored with this already but it was nice to see, how sims behave when they get to make their own decitions (and when playing without hacks). It made me appreciate my huge hack-folder alot ;)

I liked this challenge because I didn't have to micromanage. Whenever I realized I hadn't checked up on a sim in a while, I would just say, "Oh, I don't care, I don't need to check on them anyways!" It was an excellent challenge. And it was challenging in a different sort of way. (Although I don't know if putting food out for them and waiting for them to get to it counts as controlling them. Haha.)
I agree. It is GREAT having everyone go to school/work. I love it.

Ok, I've done the challenge again, and this time only two people died! Of course, it helped that I made everyone permaplat from the first day, which helped to get everyone off to work. It didn't stop people from crowding around the fridge complaining how damn hungry they were then waiting paitently to stuff their face. I didn't see the deaths, as I was away from the pc and had the game on triple speed, but they both died the day they turned elder - which was when I was going to stop the challenge! It was still fun the second time around - I created three different families and put them into the one household to give them a little variety. I have ACR so I had to direct the teens to check out people in the house (a tiny cheat, I know) but worth the lulz. She ended up falling for two brothers and slept with both before one found out and got jealous. She then got the hots for one of the new guys in the house who came in to replace one of my dead sims :) This challenge is best fun one I've had with the Sims for ages!

Tried it, but already disqualified. XD I couldn't help but to cancel some interaction or activity(example: cancel playing with toy to make the toddler get into the crib). However, with various hacks and objects, even toddler can take care of most of needs(feeEssen and Rebecah's baby objects are useful for that). Also I sent the kids to Simlogical Prep School (http://www.drealm.info/simlogical/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Schooltypes.htm), so I don't need to worry about homeworks.

-i am so tired, i am going to nap on the couch where everyone else is watching tv, wake up and scream about how tired i am.
-i have to pee, so i am going to my room to write about knomes and chess in my diary, then stand up and pee on myself.
-i am sooo hungry that i am going to put a tv dinner in the oven, then go to the fridge and eat random stuff while someone else takes my tv dinner, then keep crying about how hungry i am.
-i hate this sim so much i decided i am going to walk up to them and give them a friendly hug, get rejected and do it again.
-i love my daughter so much instead of changing her diaper i will pick her up and give her a bath until shes clean and let her sit there with her poop in her diaper.
-i am so stinky i decided to go pet a skunk. (PETS EP. but why would you pet a skunk?!?)
but man it was actually fun!

I think you can use 'MoveObjects on' to delete not deletable objects. Or you can get School changer and custom schools from Simlogical, then assign all kids to 'Simlogical Prep School'. Then the kids will come home later than normal school, without holding homeworks.

I love this! lol im guilty of "OCD" micromanagement and im always dictating their habits and such . This challenge seems the most fun for me and the pics in this thread make me LOL!(Sims are tooo cute). "The bathroom gathering" and "sleeping in wrong beds" will certainly be entertaining. These are the main things other than the entire family having single instant meals constantly ! ^.^ I hope one of them will actually end up cooking for them. Never mind, I failed.
I just left it running and went off to do other things, but when I got back, both the toddler and child had died! After a protracted "WTF?" moment I figured out they had been scared to death by the ghost of the townie I killed after I caught him kicking over the trash can and stupidly left the urn inside. So I decided I'd had enough of this challenge and killed off the rest of the family.
NEVER AGAIN! I'm going back to my old style of micromanaging. This challenge was cool at first, but just watching and not interacting with my Sims got terribly boring after a while.

Nobody had died in about a week, there was a birthday, 6 group meals, two promotions, and only one fire. I was pretty happy! It's a lot of fun to see what Sims can do when Free Will is on. I had no idea about the "Stuff Your Face" action! I'm going to try again soon with the ACR and see if some more interesting drama will happen :D Great idea for a challenge!

While that's a good idea in principle LFact, I discovered while playing that if a child sim goes to the Prep School for long enough they then get transferred to Private School automatically. A simple way to avoid the Headmaster scenario yes, but not so good for this challenge; once the transfer occurs you get the homework back again!

Okay I think I totally have to try this... I'm a control freak, and have to tell my sims what to do constantly. I think this will be a TRUE challenge for me, and should be hilarious! (I have sometimes wondered if I shouldn't relax and just let my sims do what they want, and have tried to do that at times, until I actually need them to do something!) I think I'll go ahead and even stick them in the same neighborhood as my legacy families, and just see what happens!!

Use the InSimenator. It has a toddler toilet that enables you to train the toddlers within seconds.

While that's a good idea in principle LFact, I discovered while playing that if a child sim goes to the Prep School for long enough they then get transferred to Private School automatically. A simple way to avoid the Headmaster scenario yes, but not so good for this challenge; once the transfer occurs you get the homework back again!
Maybe the auto do-homework mod is a better suggestion!
It may depend on how much money you have. If you have tons of money, the kids can be transferred to private school automatically. I've never seen kids are transferred to private school when the household has only thousands or some tens of thousands of money.
Perhaps I'll try it once again in new neighborhood.

I, too, am a control freak, so I thought this is the perfect chance for me to see just how smart (or stupid) my cute little Sims really are. Sally has a hard first day. She has both a LTW and a want for the Law profession, so easy, I get her a job in Law. Carpool will be there at 6 am Tuesday morning, better be sharp and ready for anything. So she promptly sits down at the piano before noon on Monday. (I know, you said no pianos was better, but oops.) She is really engrossed in the piano, she doesn't notice the time until the carpool shows up! All her vital motives are in deep red by this time. But Sally is a trooper, and off to work she goes. She makes a bad decision at work (bad chance card, again oops, my bad.) Poor Sally gets fired. She comes home and cries at the mailbox, then almost passes out, then decides she's definitely stinky, hungry and has to pee, then she cries some more. At this point, I don't know whether Sally is going to make it or not. But slowly over the course of the next 24 hours or so, she pulls herself out of her deep depression, takes care of her needs... and then goes and sits back at the piano. I think, oh dear, Sally is not long for this neighborhood! But I find Sally another job in the law, and she stopped playing the piano to take care of herself, and went to bed at a reasonable hour. Hurray for Sally!
I also learned that toddlers are pretty good at taking care of themselves. Little Suzie seemed to be the best of the 8 at taking care of herself. She put herself to bed in the doggy bed when she was sleepy, ate doggy food when she was hungry, and even would wake up in the middle of the night to pee if she had to. She only had trouble with hygiene because she was dreadfully ignored and no one seemed to notice the baby was stinky.
By the time Saturday rolled around, I was impressed with what they were able to do for themselves. I was also surprised at what they chose to do. All the adults chose creativity as their main recreation. Two chose piano, and the other two chose painting. I also had chess tables, but nobody played chess even once.
I kept the experiment going for a week, and with what I learned in that week, I'm definitely going to allow them more free time to do what they want. But I'm not giving up total control any time soon; they still need guidance to fulfill those wants.

This challenge was hilarious!
I created a family with two married couples where the husbands were brothers. They each had a set of children/teens. Everyone was doing so good at the beginning. Everyone liked each other. One of the mothers was very diligent in serving meals, and the other mother liked to grill. The three adults all got promotions, but then it started going downhill from there.
No one wanted to feed the toddler, so the social worker showed up and took all the children. The diligent mom was the first to die of starvation, and then the teens went. One of the brothers died. The grilling mom died next, and then her husband. He hung on for a while there.
I am so wrong for laughing, but I can't help it! I think my final score is -190!

Tried this yesterday, interesting challenge. I have about... 295 points.
Lucky me, my sims have never served a single plate for themselves; maybe because they have family (2 parents a teen and a child in one, 2 parents, a teen and toddler in the other) or maybe they only cook when they're half a step away from death and are REALLY hungry.
The toddler was the main reason they all almost died - I forgot I had the 'sleep through the night' mod, and because she wasn't potty-trained, the toddler was often put to bed wet. Then both adults and teens would gather into her room and queue waking her up until 6 am - all while alternating to complaints about how hungry and bored they were u_u
Guess I paired them wrong, because both sets of parents aren't really attracted to their spouse xD. They are VERY attracted to the other's though - ACR's turned up, but so far no cheating. The child of one couple made best friends with the son of the other fairly quickly, and now I know why - 3 bolts the minute she aged up! They can hardly keep their hands off each other -- though her brother keeps can eye out on them :P
My only issue is that they're too sane; I randomized everything, but it seems for someone's shortcomings, another sim makes up for it. How to shake things up without shaking things up..... hmm, lol.

Well, I decided to have a go at this on the new laptop, as at the current time I've only installed as far as FT. As a result, the only CC I have in are the two mods suggested (do homework and the auto bill payer)...
I had three families in one household for my original set-up:
Married couple Karen and Richard, with teen son Hamish and child daughter Charlotte,
Single parent Nora with teen daughter Rose-Ann,
Single parent Lucien with toddler daughter Kyra.
So far, we've lost Richard to starvation and Charlotte to the Social Worker. Kyra grew up to child and is probably the highest-aspiration levelled sim among them! The teens have been fighting, and Hamish made an enemy with a townie boy almost immediately. In his defence though, I do believe the townie started it
The job-front started off well - one promotion almost immediately. However, tings have since gone swiftly downhill, having had three sims fired, all due to chance cards. Oh well, we'll just have to have another bash at that side of things.
As it stands right now, my score is a terrible -215.

How come only Charlotte was taken by the Social Worker? Doesn't the SW take all children younger than teens?

For reference sake, my sims are Anna and Harley who had a teen son Adam and toddler Mandie. Then there's Mia and Josiah with teen son Roil and child Gracie. Adam and Roil are now adults, Gracie has been a teen for awhile, and Mandie aged up to teen just before...
I fell asleep! Yes, I fell asleep on it last night and woke up to a "Name the new baby!" screen. I named her 'Jenna' and she appears to be the child of Mandie.
Mia seems to have died from... starvation, I guess, leaving a free spot open for Mandie to get knocked up. But now the question is, who is Jenna's daddy? She was sleeping with Roil but then 'met Stephen' (he's another teen in the hood so maybe he came home from school with her?) and woohoo'd with him and got caught. I could check the family ties, but I kinda wanna see if I can guess by features only when she ages up :)
Nothing significant seems to have happened except Harley got himself fired. He's consistently starving and sleeping during the day so maybe he missed the carpool too many times. Mia and he were becoming good buddies so he may have went through an aspiration failure when she died.

That's exactly what I thought YukiShine, so I'm not altogether sure.
Admittedly the SW arrived before 3pm sim-time, so maybe that was why Kyra was spared (she was still at school). Either that or it was because she wasn't Charlotte's sister.
EDIT:
Update: As I've now lost Kyra and Charlotte's replacement Jennifer to the SW, I'm pretty sure it was the "still at school" thing that saved Kyra the first time!
I've also had another starvation death: Rose-Ann. Surprisingly I've not seen Richard's ghost yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I get hauntings.

This hurt. So much. XD I don't know if Sims just REALLY hate third floors or if I laid my house out poorly, but they rarely ever left the first floor and I had all the beds on the third floor. Needless to say, I had a lot of passing out.
On the third day I had my first casualty and I forgot to replace him, but my house was bugging me too much to keep going anyway. I left the house without saving and dumped the household back in the bin. I'll try again later with a larger lot and a single floor house... But for now, here's some of what happened in the only three days they had. I barely touched any of them in CAS so it was a bunch of randoms I connected in various ways.

This is the family. The man on the far right is Derrick, whose son, Samuel, is on the far left. Behind Derrick (black hair) is Selzi, single mother to the two dark-skinned girls in front (child Winona, teenager Sherri). The last two adults on the left are brother (Matt) and sister (Pria), and the toddler (Freddie) is Matt's son.

There were several hours of hanging out from the very beginning... I think it was the only time anyone was even remotely happy.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka12.jpg
Quiet and bespectacled Matt immediately got a job as a criminal. He's the only one who actually went to work, and even then it was only once. The kids also never went to school except for the one day Winona felt well enough to.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka7.jpg
I didn't think a chess board was one of the objects Sims would get stuck to. Um, I learned my lesson. Selzi was at it for HOURS.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka6.jpg
When Selzi finally gave it up, Pria, completely exhausted, decided to play to keep herself awake. -_-
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka19.jpg
Samuel got seriously into a kicky bag game. Again, probably the last time he was actually happy.

Around when things took the biggest downward turn.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka14.jpg
At least the kid got the couch, but seriously, THERE WERE EIGHT BEDS JUST ONE MORE FLOOR UP. EIGHT.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka9.jpg
Samuel worried over Pria passed out in the bathroom while Sherri was desperately trying to force the sleeping woman out so she could use the toilet.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka22.jpg
Trying the bathroom next door she found someone passed out in it, too! Again, two extra bathrooms upstairs, but nope. First floor bathrooms or nothing for these guys.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka4.jpg
This picture's actually kinda cute, but the actions before it drove me nuts. Selzi spent about two sim hours in an endless loop of complaining about her exhaustion, then complaining about the toddler she was trying to hold being asleep, then her exhaustion, etc. until she finally passed out. It was maddening. XD
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka3.jpg
This looks fine, but what happened wasn't. Pria bathed Freddie in the tub, which was okay, he was stinky. But then she took him to the tub IN THE BATHROOM NEXT DOOR to wash him again. AND THEN THE TODDLER'S FATHER BATHED HIM IN THE FIRST TUB AGAIN. :/ Poor boy was about to pass out from exhaustion himself.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/meikyuu/Sims%202/havoka20.jpg
Poor Samuel was the first to go. He pretty much woke up and died. Sigh. Also just before this photo 3/4 adults stood around doing NOTHING for at least three hours because the toddler passed out and they wanted to do absolutely nothing but harass him.
I didn't count friends they made amongst themselves because I felt like it didn't count but I don't know if it does? Either way, excluding friends my final point tally for those three days was -290. XD The only reason I didn't get below -300 is they kept making group meals when they were about to starve to death.

I honestly thought this was going to be easy. Now I would like to kick myself. Here are some highlights:
Why in the world would we bring the toddler inside, lets just let her almost freeze to death!
Doesn't it make sense to use the bed ten feet away from you? Nope! Lets pass out on the floor instead!
Eat a group meal made by a family member? Nah. Lets make our own, when the group meal wasn't even spoiled!
Lets sit out in the yard, in the middle of winter, and hang out. Then almost freeze to death.
Great challenge but frustrating :p. I'll definitely do it again!

My sister started a challenge with this. This is what it was like.
At first, everything was just like a normal autonomous sim day where everyone is stupid because of waiting in the bathroom for the toddler to be done bathing. as it went on, Sarah made a few dozen plates of hotdogs while the teenagers were jumping on the couch while they should be taking showers. A few hunger complaints later, the tub/shower broke, soon followed by the television. During some of that chaos, a neighbor cheerfully drops by and tips the trash can over, freeing hundreds of roaches. As one of the sims is very clean, they pick up the trash can and the trash. After that, the whole family decides to come out and meet the roaches by trying to squash them. The roaches replied by making them all sick. That night the teenagers suddenly decide they hate each other and break out in a few fights. My sister is now saying, "What a wonderful thing it is to let sims make their own choices."

I did this challenge for one sim week. It seems that the boolprop glitched out the lot. For instance, the paper boy and all visitors were stuck in the same spot. The school bus only showed up once but each day their grades were demoted and told they shouldn't miss a day of school. Then the social worker came and she never left but her van did. So she just stood their looking on like she was waiting to take another. But when she comes the buy, build and save mode are darkened so I couldn't save my game. I fast forwarded hoping she would go away but the van wasn't there anymore. There were just too many glitches going on which my game get's like when using boolprop. However, I did recently put in ACR so it might be that. I tried the casual will you woohoo? and no one was attracted to each other since I never coupled the adults up. I had one adult be parent to the toddler and teen and another be parent to the child and teen. They were a very social bunch but no chemistry. It was an interesting experiment.
Oh and for the one week my score was 120 points.

It's not the fault of the testingcheats - all that does passively is report errors. You need to troubleshoot those glitches - see the game help FAQ - if they're recurring. If it's an occasional random glitch, you can delete stuck sims with no harm using move objects. There's also a Stuck Object Remover and various option with the batbox and, oh my, the testingcheats. Which you had on.
Read all the documentation on ACR, too - you may simply have misunderstood a function.

it's funny I have a house or 4 that I run this way and in one of them 1 sim is 'the' mechanic of the family
and there are 2 cooking crazy sims so that works like a charm
I have a few woohoo type beds in that house too and a complete nursery
'fireproof cooking' can help save some meals right?
'bed wetting' may cost me points
(both are installed)
I recently put ACR and the automatic billpayer (from SW) in the set I can't wait to see what happens to my family when that stuff kicks in ....
ooh and they have a powerplant that is too big for the energy they use so my father sim is powerplant manager from his own home (making money with it)
3 of my other aduls have jobs in various carreers but I don't know where(they were 'added to family' sims) exept for 1 she is in the army
(the hummer and clothes are a death give away)
this house has been a bit bigger than 8 sims from day 1 btw
maybe I do a house that does the exact family base with my next genetic skin(recolor) project 'vineans'
after I find their names again (they are from a cartoon album)

And I'll use "no social worker" mod, and not worry about the bills, as that will add to their fun.

So I made 2 men, 2 women; a boy & girl teen; a girl child and boy toddler. I gave everyone different zodiacs, rolled for aspirations, and let Maxis dress everyone (yech). I have ACR, and mod for large families. One woman doesn't like either man, but then she started boinking the teen (more yech). The other woman (Alice) is romancing both men, and got pregnant. As a number of people cook (seems like ALWAYS group meals) she didn't die - until the baby was born. Then she cooked hot dogs, but died before she could eat. The only other death was the hamster. Poor toddler Willie only got his diaper changed twice; once by a visitor and once by the teen Mindy. Everyone complained about his stench, but even though he asked for diaper-change, no one would do it. Then he would ask for attention, only to get mad if someone tried to play with him. The baby is headed for the same fate; no one has ever put him in the crib or changed his diaper, but they DO feed him. He must be exhausted, since he's on the kitchen floor and it's open to the ever-running TV and radio.
The two teens had first kiss and were always in bed...until they started to fight constantly.
Question: Willie destroyed Alice's urn - isn't this a BAD thing, like deleting a tombstone?
AND: since we can use money cheats, why do adults have to work? They could get into more trouble staying home. Have only had 3 fires. Hoping for more mayhem.
And no, I can't just sit and watch, I just come back to speed it up or clear messages..

Played this challenge for a little while over the weekend. I have three single parents and Cyd Roseland as my household. The mothers each have one child, one a male teen and the other a male child. The single father has a teen daughter and a female toddler. I threw in Cyd Roseland because he is usually a jerk in my games so I thought he could stir up trouble. I took an apartment building and converted it to residential, so each family technically has their own apartment, but they freely go into everyone else's home. I played for three days until the toddler aged up to child, then stopped till next time. Much to my shock, Cyd loved the toddler. He spent all most all his time looking after her while her father lounged on the sofa watching tv all day. When he wasn't taking care of the toddler Cyd stared at the two women while they chatted in the hottub. He wouldn't get in with them, he would just stare at them. The teens and male child are all best buds and play together and with Cyd's dog. After a while of ACR doing nothing I cheated and played each adult and teen long enough to make them scope the room in hopes of getting some romance going. One lady finds both Cdy and the other guy hot and she alternates between flirting with them. The other lady likes the male teen, but has not flirted with him. The male teen likes her back, but hopefully nothing will happen until he is nearly an adult. The female teen doesn't care for anyone. So far it's been pretty fun. Two sims constantly cook group meals, and the others eat them even when they have gone bad instead of cooking for themselves. One sim gained a love for cooking while eating a rotten sandwich, lol. No one has gotten fired yet, and one lady has gotten a promotion. That's about it for me so far. When I next play my game I'll write down their names and save a few pics to post.

I started playing this since it is Spring Break and I have lots of time right now!! The only other time I did anything like this (on my own, didn't know about the challenge) was with the Ottomas family. I moved them in and just watched. It was pretty funny, so I thought I'd give this a whirl. I made my family using a "Random Stuff' ap I got and used a "Random Name' ap. So I picked names and traits with this. I thought that would make it more' fair', since in life we get what we get! I also gave them each level 9 on a random skill and each 4-5 at least for cooking. Less for the kids.
I have a family where two siblings are married and each family has two kids.So the whole bunch is related. So far, my teen boy is an awesome big brother. He has cooked a group family meal, bathed his toddler sister and fed her a bottle. Then her dad just put her to bed! Precious! I'm taking pictures so we'll see how this proceeds! Thanks for the challenge! :lovestruc

I had asked about the destruction of an urn; but when I after re-entering the lot a few times it reappeared as a tombstone.
ACR produced a baby - which no one paid any attention to except to feed it, only to drop it on the floor in front of the frig. Producing a scene I have NO sympathy for: "Look at us we're starving!". A few died of starvation. The baby became a toddler and I just couldn't stand the misery: I removed a mod that prevents the social worker, and that toddler and a boy child were taken.
The last person alive was PantyBoy- who got his name because he dressed himself in low-riders that stylishly exposed his underwear. Don't really know what killed him - maybe disease, all he wanted to do was stomp roaches.
So while I didn't really enjoy the challenge, I have 2 cute kids in the adoption pool, and a really NASTY house to torture some family with!l

This is the first challenge I've ever tried, thanks for thinking it up. I knew watching suffering kids would be impossible so I made 8 adults, all separate fams, which gave me $160,000 when they all moved into the same trailer. It's a very small trailer. I gave the same likes and dislikes to everyone. For personalities I maxed out two characteristics, like clean and nice, and put a third one at 5. The others were all zero. Each person has a different combination. It is teaching me a lot about what those personalities prefer to do. I gave them an easel and a chess table. Two of them cook and clean all day. They all like to paint. Only three of them enjoy chess. The trailer is an open floor plan and traffic isn't too bad. The only intervention I've done is "pay bills" and hang each painting on the wall as soon as its done. The folks seem to get along, lots of friendships, I put 4 double beds in the trailer and people share them willingly. No jobs yet, I'm a little scared to try it. My one problem is a sim with fun so in the red that it's keeping him from spontaneously doing any fun things, just eats, sleeps, crys and yells all the time. Ick.
When I get the courage to send them to work I fear all will go rapidly downhill.

Ok, so after 4 rounds my point are .....645!!! Yes, that's right! 5 group meals, 3 burned meals, 5 passing outs, 5 promotions (mainly due to chance cards), 4 fires, 2 family friends and 5 aging ups! My two teens are now adults and my kid and toddler are now teens.
Janeknisely, don't be afraid of kids. When you give them an 'easy bake oven' and toys they stay fed and happy. My toddler was bathed and fed so much that I was afraid she would get fat!!! My best move was to make one Sim very neat. Of course this was luck because all the personalities were a toss of the dice ,so to speak. They mostly spend their time socializing and eating!!! But these Sims are really good at taking care of themselves. I only have one who worries and cries constantly. But her needs are taken care of, it's just that her aspirations aren't met.
This is the most fun challenge I've played yet!

Ohhhh this sounds hilarious ^_^ I've been really bored with Sims lately, like REALLY bored. And I've been wondering what I could do and with this...I can do nothing and still get all the entertainment :3 I'm gonna give it a shot!
Well...
End Of Night 1. It is now Midnight Tuesday, Day 2
And all I can say is...
I guess my sims do not know what a "kitchen" is. And if they do, they are too stupid to operate a fridge and an oven. And now they're all starving to death because of it *facepalm*
One of my sims TRIED to make lobster. But does she stay to keep an eye on the lobster? Oh no.
And of course, they all don't know how to remove a burning lobster dish from the oven -_-
Concluding in...
Fire! -10 points. Luckily, somehow, all my idiot sims survived.
Yeah I know, I'm surprised too.
Seriously though. The only one who ISN'T starving is the child, Aramaye. And why? Because she has that child's oven
Only my 8 year old sim is smart enough to feed herself. The adults and teens are way too stupid to.
*facepalm again*
I just wish she could feed the entire family. Including the toddler, Michael. Imma be upset if he dies or gets taken away, he's a little cutie.
At the rate that these sims are going, I'll be surprised if ANY of them survive past Day 2.
Total Score, End Day 1: -10
End of Night 2. It is now Midnight Wednesday, Day 3
Well. Surprisingly, all my little idiot sims survived the first two days. I still have little hope for them though.
If any of them survive the first week, I think I'll have a heart attack.
Aramaye, of course, fends for herself. Thank you childs oven. She has the highest motives out of everyone.
And little Michael becomes a child in two days. I'm hoping he'll stay around long enough to see his birthday.
And two of my sims already got fired *facepalm* because of "poor job performance" and a bad chance card. Argh. So I gotta find them jobs again.
So after one fire and three passing outs, my final score for the end of Day 2 is: -70
Wow.
I see now why sims need us to control them.

One sim hour into the game and there was a kitchen fire, they all died. I don;t think I'm very good at this challenge.

Played a little bit more last week. My teenage knowledge sim boy, Goku, is getting lots of action while the romance sim teen girl, Cleopatra, can't even get a first kiss. He woohooed with Isabella, (Marco's mom) who had a crush on him and two of her co-workers on different occasions when she brought them home, so I made him romance secondary. The boy child, Marco, aged to a teen, and spun family, and the female toddler, Isis, aged to a cute child. All adults but one have gotten promotions, and they constantly cook group meals. Things are going pretty well for everyone. Isis still spends all her time at Cyd's even though she has her own bed that I assigned to her she prefers to sleep on his sofa. He constantly reads to her and on the rare occasions she sleeps in her own bed he tucks her in. I've never played Cyd as a parent and I am shocked at how well he is raising his neighbor's daughter. Asia (Goku's mom) and Lawrence (Cleopatra and Isis's Dad) spend all their time together, although Asia has woohooed both Lawrence and Cyd, she is only in love with Lawrence. Because I have ACR to only allow jealousy for engaged/married couples, there is little drama on the lot. Honestly if it wasn't for Asia and Isabella constantly catching food poisoning from eating rotten food this family would be doing perfect at raising themselves. As Marco is family he cooks comfort soup a lot which allows everyone to get better. It may be burnt, but it still works, lol. Also, on a side note I never knew they could cook comfort soup on their own, I'm quite glad to see they can.The last day of play Isis became a teen, I think she rolled pleasure or popularity, I can't remember what. And I suppose I shouldn't be shocked by this, but she has a huge crush on Cyd. I guess as he's taken care of her most of her life while her own father lazed about she sees Cyd as the perfect guy. I'm hoping she won't approach him, and that if she does he turns her down, because having the two of them form a relationship after he pretty much raised her her whole life would be creepy in my book. I might cheat and change her turn on/offs so that nothing will happen.

Well I completed the Challenge. It was the first one I've completed! I get bored easily and almost quit, but I stuck it through. Final count: 11 group meals, 6 burnt meals, 11 passing out, 7 promotions, 5 fires, 6 birthdays (Not counting the elders), 1 peeing on self, 4 family friends and 3 making it to elders! The total points are:1315!! :) I started with one fat Sim and ended up with 5! They did a lot of eating, watching TV and pillow fighting! At the end my fav.. Sim made friends with Angela Pleasant and actually liked her better than his wife! I had one Sim who cried constantly, but mostly they were pretty happy! This was a lot of fun watching them. Did you know they could have the 'ruin a painting"interaction? I didn't, but found out watching them! Thanks again!
