View Full Version : The game no longer runs after reinstall. At all. Help?

I have Sims 3 and WA. It played perfectly fine before, then I uninstalled it to make room on my computer. In fact I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times in the past with zero issues.
I reinstalled it today...and the game won't start up. I've tried through the launcher and using the .exe
All that happens is my screen turns black for a few seconds then back to the desktop.
I did a search and most of the advice was to update the graphic drivers. I did just then and still nada. I've updated Directx. I have also tried removing downloads/mod folders and reinstalling.
I have the latest game patch.
Processor: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
Ram: 4GB (3.25 usable)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Let me know if any other info is required ^^
(I just noticed in the Documents/EA/Sims3 folder are a whole bunch of MDMP and Text Files...if that helps any?)

If you haven't already moved your user files (saved games, saved sims, etc) do it now. Move it to your desktop or another hard drive, etc.
Same goes with you Mods\Packages folder. Get them out of the way so you can completely uninstall the whole thing and start fresh.
Once you have what you want to keep, Uninstall Sims 3 and WA following this guide - Game Help: TS3 Uninstall (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall)
If you are asked if you want to save the User Files - Select "No". Look in your Documents folder and Program Files folder and make sure the
Electronic Arts folders are gone. Go ahead and Reboot the PC to flush out the memory, etc.
Then when you are back in windows, Reinstall The Sims 3 and WA following this guide - Game Help: TS3 Patching (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching)
You will want to follow the have an Expansion Pack(s) but no Stuff Pack(s) Option. Make note of the links below that if you run into errors.
Once you have tested your game and made sure it running properly, you then need to Install the Framework and add your mods back in.
Download, Install, and Run the Framework Installer Tool (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=384014) . Delphy's program will install the Framework for each of the folders you have.
Download Rick's - No Intro (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=342922) Mod
Extract the NoIntro.package only to the Mods/Packages folder
Test to see if the intro movie plays before the game starts loading. If you have World Adventures and/or High End Loft Stuff you may
need to move the nointro.package to the mods/packages folder under WA or HELS for it to show up.
