Career Icon Background Transparency

I'm busy at work on my first custom career, everything seems to be going smoothly except for one thing.

The icon, despite being transparent in Irfanview, GIMP, and SimPE, is not transparent in the game itself. Everytime the icon shows up I can see that ugly "magic green" ruining the career panel. Any idea why this might be happening?

Perhaps career icons do not support transparency within the game? Instead of using actual transparency, what if you chose the color of the UI panel?

Transparent career icon backgrounds do normally work in the game. I'm afraid I'm not compentent enough with GIMP to be able to give you any useful advice though, Sacred_Nym. If you do really struggle with making the background transparent, MSD's idea could work. - I used to do that before I figured out how to make the background transparent using Photoshop Elements 7.

Your changing them from jpg's to tga's right?

@MSD & Laura: That would've worked to make the UI look good, but when I would look at the "Go to Work"/"At Work" Icons in the queue, it wouldn't look that great. I do appreciate the idea though. :)

@JMC: I am now officially kicking myself for not thinking of this. I was originally using a transparent PNG, but changing it to TGA seemed to make it work. I guess TS2 doesn't handle transparency on PNGs.
