I went to load up my game as I usually do earlier this evening and the game loaded stupidly fast and came up with..."The game has encountered a serious error...blah blah blah...we recommend you restart"

So I immediately thought of renaming my files, the back up one and my "bad" file.

Then I went back to my game and there was nothing there! Just a random "Ramirez" game that it wouldnt even le me click on because it says the game has missing EP data which is stupid because I have no game or families under that name and I have every EP installed!!

Is there anyway to save my game? I have been playing this save for a few months now! :(

The .bad save needs to be deleted.

Also check that the CurrentGame.sims3 folder is empty when you next load your game.
If it is not,
- create a "glitched.sims3" folder in Saves,
- copy the contents of this "CurrentGame.sims3" folder to the "glitched.sims3" folder you just created in Saves,
- ensure "CurrentGame.sims3" folder is empty now

This might help, too. Game_Help:Restoring_Backup_Saves

Hi,

I tried what you said and all it did was rename the game I was trying to play and then it comes up with the exact same error. Any other suggestions? I really don't want to start again!

Thanks,

Anna

Then both versions might be toast and cannot be salvaged. :(

Both the .sims and .backup saves give the same error?
Which error is this? The "...serious error..." or the "...missing EP..."?

The normal game file gives the serious error and the back up file gives me the missing EP with the random Ramirez family?

Please help me save it...Soooo many nice houses on that game I forgot to upload!

If you get the "missing EP" error, replacing the meta.data file as suggested in that wiki I linked to, didn't help?

Also, if you're not ever going to send the error dump files to EA, you can delete the xcpt files in the Sims 3 folder in your Documents, if any.
Have you also remove the *caches?

What are caches?

--------
I found a link to how to delete caches and did that but it didnt work. I also repaced the MEta file and now if I run it I get the serious error on both the current file and the back up file?

Thanks

I'm sorry, if the suggestions provided there doesn't help, that save file is not recoverable. There may yet be other workarounds we haven't figure out yet.
So, you may want to put it aside, if ever EA updates with a way to fix them, or someone in the community figure out a way...
