I watched that trailer probably a hundred times when it was in the living large CD, and was very disappointed when it was cancelled. If I understood the wiki correctly, you couldn't play families like you could in TS1? if really so, I would not have liked this game. I'm looking at the pics and can't believe they would have had an XXX place in the town, noway would EA let anything with the letter X be in their game any more. Which sucks. Am I delusional or does this (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/simsville/images/0/21/?tag=imagenav%3Bprev) pic look as if Mortimer (or it could be another sim) has a woman on a leash?

isn't that essentially the sims 3, but 8 years older and with crappier graphics?

No... was much more of an amalgamation of The Sims and Sim City rather than an enhanced version of one or the other.

Considering the part of town it's in, you could well be right.

Nah...I don't think the game would of been at all good to me...off topic, I think personally that someone or EA should make a mod or patch that allows you in the sims 1-3 to have a god mode like in sim city to make natural disasters and control the weather...

I really like the idea of this game. Sadly, now it's too much like Sims 3 to be a stand-alone, but at the time it would be awesome to compliment Sims 2 and SimCity4 (Much better than SimCity Suck Edition Societies)
And Yes, it *is* like Sims 3 but with worse graphics, but with the Charm and Style that Maxis has; You're looking at how Quirky Sims 3 could have been if they had the same approach - though I'm thinking if SimVille came out in 2001, then Sims 2 would have been more realistic to compliment the game (Remember they changed the look in alpha stages?) and thus Sims 3 would be /totally/ different.
..Or, it could have been a Flop, and EA could have purchased Maxis long before the productions of Sims 2, and it would have been different still; but what's the point on old and lingered ideas, right? :)
