I want to make tsuggas non creased pants mesh a repository item, so that they take their textures from maxis recolors. The tutorials are pretty easy to follow but since they're for objects, I'm having some trouble.

For clarification, I am following this tutorial (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=229452), and I am treating tsugga's mesh as the 'slave object' to the maxis base pants. I am using Plasticbox's repository clothing files as a guide.

In the tutorial, under editing the GMND, the directions state:
In the Content tab under Geometric Node, there is a drop-down menu called Blocklist. Open that and see if there is an entry called “tsMaterialsMeshName”. If there isn't, you need to add one. (If it's there already, you can jump to step c ). To add it, click on the Edit Blocks tab, select “tsDataListExtension” from the drop-down menu and click Add.

However, this was not done in Plasticbox's file. I am guessing the tsMaterialsMeshName is only for objects?

Also, I noticed that Plasticbox didn't alter the names in the scenograph, or that she (he?) had replaced the resource files with files from the original mesh. The instances are the same. So can I just extract the resource files from the maxis mesh and replace the resource files of the tsugga clone I made? And from there, begin on the recolor packages?

You're over-complicating it. :)

It's actually pretty easy for Body Shop items - but unlike repository objects, you still are going to need a whole package for each recolour. With objects, you can just link 'em up to the object and say "get all recolours for this" - for repository BS stuff, you have a recolour that says "use this texture over here."

Make yourself a working recolour file in Body Shop of the mesh you want to use - go ahead and finish the project with Import to Game even though the textures will be wrong.

Open the recolour of the Maxis item that you're wanting to use (I'm assuming you mean custom recolours of Maxis clothes? using Maxis textures of game clothes is doable too, just a little more complicated but not by much) and look in the material definition (TXMT) - there should be one line that's loong and goes something like ##0xblahblahblahmeshname_something - copy that line. That's the line that references what texture to use.

Then open up your working recolour file (should be in SavedSims after being finished in Body Shop) and open the material definition (TXMT) in there, find the same line, and paste what you copied into it. Commit, and then remove the actual texture image from your recolour file (since it's no longer being used).

This tutorial explains a more complex version of what you're wanting to do - referencing multiple textures in another file. You just need to do one texture.

If you're wanting to reference Maxis recolours, I think I can find you info on that - sorry if anything here is vague, I don't have TS2 installed anymore.

I know I was borking my question up when I typed it. Thanks for the speedy and very informative reply. However, I AM referencing multiple textures. I want to make this mesh (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=270713) repository (not the default one, the CC one). You answered my next question, though, which i was still investigating the answer to. Huzzah for ESP!

Not have sims 2 installed? *gasp*
I was dead set against ever playing the sims 3 pudding factory - and then they came up with medieval sims (FINALLY!!!) so I'll be entering the sims 3 forte around then, if my old pc is willing.
