View Full Version : Texture not covering new mesh correctly

So I separated the apartment life landlord top and it textures just fine in milkshape but not bodyshop. The first time, I used the polo shirt as my clothing base. This time I used the base game t-shirt, since it hangs properly 'over' pants. Still, the shirt texture collects from the pants texture. And it is all the pants, not just the pair pictured. All the comments for the mesh groups in bodyshop are correct, as far as I know.

Thanks for the help. I know I'm being pestery around here, so I appreciate it. Click thumbnail to enlarge:

It's the UV map. Pants will always map over tops. You need to make sure that the UV map for the top doesn't extend down below where the UV map for the pants would be.

Sweet, fakepeeps. Thanks for the answer!

So after morphing the uvmap, and the texture, I realized it was going to make me morph the uv for the fatmorph as well and that it would be better to do this with groups. (AHA!) Hooray for enlightenment!

Hmm. I imported dustfinger's long shirt mesh (can't remember which) to use as a guide and the second group mesh. I imported it without additional bones, of course. So the second group for the fat morph doesn't have bones and I have to assign them all manually. I'm assuming the best way to do this is to open the dustfinger mesh in another milkshape window and copy the bones over that way? Or is there an easier, secret, uber cool way?

Fat morphs don't have bones.

I saw that, after about 4 hours of playing with it, lol. Makes my job easier, anyway. Thanks for the help, fakepeeps.

New problem. The meshing part came along smoothly (yay!) but now there is a black shadow on the collar I can't get rid of. It does not appear in milkshape, nor in the preview thumbnail of bodyshop. Just on the bodyshop mannequin. In the preview, I have filled in all the texture files with solid colors (alpha is white, bmp is grey). I checked my UVmap and it appears fine. Attached file has the mesh, recolor, and the GMDC file. Thanks.

It's your UV map. I had a look in MilkShape. With separates, you need to have all your UV mapping on either the top (for a top) or the bottom (for pants or skirts)... well, with the exception of the arms. Leave them where they are.

You're seeing the black in Body Shop because it's putting a pair of pants with it... and the pants probably have texture mapped over that same area where the collar map is right now. The same thing will happen in the game. You need to move any parts of the UV map that are in the pants area. That's going to be tricky. You'll probably need to resize some things and then do the same with the texture.
