I just purchased an nVidia GTS 450 along with a 700W power supply. Everything works great, HD and all, but . . . when I go to start the game, I just get a black screen and task manager says it's not responding. I'm running a fresh installation with No CC. O_o I'm just downloading the latest drivers (I installed the ones on the disc but just in case, y'know . . .) and was just wondering if this card is even compatible seeing as your list didn't include it and Google had no info on the compatibility at all. It is all installed correctly (I made sure myself) but I was just wondering seeing as we have 7 days to take it back. :)

It should work ok.. but I don't know anyone who has that specific card. It was just recently released.
You should have followed these exact steps in installing. If you haven't, backtrack to step one and do so.
1) uninstall your old graphics through add/remove programs before you even put the new card in. (if you don't do this you are guaranteed to have problems)
2) turn off your computer and install your new card, including hooking the extra necessary 6 pin connector
3) turn your computer back on and install the latest drivers from Nvidia.com
4) restart your computer
-------
You also need to make sure your base game, as well as each and every expansion is patched. It will not work on Vista without being patched.
------------
If you're still using that Acer w/Vista please also install these:

And check that you now have SP2.

Also need to stress as I did in the last thread that if your entire computer is slow then something is wrong with it. I would understand why TS2 plus all expansions would lag with your IGP but your computer is plenty strong enough to handle daily activities.

It worked :) And I'm going to take it in to get checked up at ANOTHER reliable store soon. They charge less for more work, and are more thorough. Yay for savings!
