View Full Version : Duplicating an Item without Body Shop?

Greetings,

Well, it seems I've managed to be able to get Kavar's visor mesh, that I mentioned in my previous thread here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=422178), to work for both male and female Sims by deleting all female resources under "Mesh Overlay XML" and changing the gender option in the male resources to 3.
With this problem solved (I hope) I have another question relating to the same visor...

I'm trying to create two recolors of the lens, and while I know how to recolor it, what I can't figure out is how to make two different colors available in-game at the same time. If I use the "Save As" or "Save As Copy" options in SimPE and save as a different file name, the older color always overwrites the newer color, so I can't have more than one color available in the game at a time. For example, I have one file simply called "white", where the lens is white, and another file called "red" with a red lens. The white always overwrites the red lens, and the white is the only one available in the game.
For some reason the visor isn't appearing in Body Shop, either, so I'm unable to clone the object in there. And yes, I loaded up TS2 before running Body Shop.
Is there some way I can clone the object in SimPE so I can have more than one color of the visor in-game?

If it helps any I can upload the files if someone wishes to take a look at them. Maybe I did something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

It's possible, but it's a real pain in the ass. You have to change EVERY instance of the file's uniqueness stuff (the TGI type stuff) everywhere it appears, and it's easy to miss some.

It'd be easier to clone in Body Shop and then remove the female stuff again.

Yeah, but like I said, for some reason it's no longer showing up in Body Shop after I changed it. Not sure why... >>;;

Hmm... Maybe I should just redownload the original file from Kavar, install that, load up TS2, quit, load up Body Shop, duplicate it from there, and make the changes all over again. Assuming I can remember everything I did... I was just screwing around with the file yesterday until I got it to work. :P
