I'm in favor of scrapping the rule, for the same reasons. It makes it feel more like a legacy if they're in the same house the whole time, at least for me.
However, there's a general consensus that if an individual feels very very strongly against a particular roll, they don't have to include that roll at all when they roll for challenge objectives.
I personally don't use Deadbeat Parents, 5 Star Celebrity, Idle Career, Hands Off, Luxury, or Born With It. For various reasons, these objectives would make me want to quit the challenge, and that's no fun. I'm not sure how we should include this unwritten rule in the rules though, while still making clear that you have to go through with rolls you find generally challenging (such as putting up with Perfect Children), if you are possibly able to stand it.

Yeah, that's a tough call. I recently wrote Living in the Past off. I did it once, and don't want to ever do it again.
I also don't use Born With It. bleh.
But yeah, it would be hard to write that currently unwritten rule in, as it just invites people to blow off anything that's difficult to do.

I agree. The only problem I had with the roll was the wording of the first part as it didn't state whether you were to re-build or not (it doesn't explicitly say to delete the whole house, just everything in it). I personally don't have an issue with it as I've been playing as you have stay in one house/town unless it is hopelessly glitched or you get Change of Scenery. So, in other words, I vote to keep it; although I wouldn't be particularly heartbroken if it ended up on the chopping block.
NutsAndDolts

I think it's pretty clear Giga. It says to delete everything in your house except those certain items. Then you delete the house itself and start from scratch.

Personally, I'd like to keep Change of Scenery as a roll. I can't remember if I've ever rolled it, but I think its a fun little challenge that at times can be annoying, but not particularly hard. In my mind it makes for a good roll.
But if the majority wants it removed I won't fight to have it stay. Just throwing my two cents in.

I kind of wondered about the change of scenery roll. Since there are no restrictions against moving houses, it seems somewhat redundant. And I agree with Becky, it feels more like a legacy to stay in the same house, although that is totally up to the player. Personally, I was really hoping to keep my family in this house, for a while at least. I'm still considering, but I probably will end up using my joker roll. I seriously love this house.
Anyway, my vote, for what it's worth, is to scrap change of scenery. But I'm fine with whatever y'all decide.

I think it should stay, then. And for those of us who seriously hate it, we just shouldn't include it in our rolls.
I know I definitely wouldn't want to move because I'm crap at designing houses, and Melissa was awesome enough to make the one I am using now. So I want to stay in that house for the whole legacy. <3

I'm currently tweaking that house for use in my legacy. :D I get jealous whenever I read your legacy. And the modern style fits perfectly into the area of Brooklyn Heights that I want to move to.
And yeah, once I move into it, I'm not going to want to move out again.
I'm fine with keeping the rule in, and allowing people who prefer to keep one legacy house to just ignore that rule.
Buckley

Awesome. Then I will just ignore it from now on. :)
I'm just curious. How big are your legacy houses? I mean, how many bedroom, studios, etc.? I tend to be drawn toward cute little cottage type houses, but now I'm thinking it may be too small. And I'm just wondering what your houses are like.

I like to have house with double master suites (one for the current heir & spouse, and one for the previous heir & spouse) plus enough bedrooms to accommodate a max of 5 children, with one dedicated nursery large enough for 3 cribs, I like to have at least one large multipurpose room for whatever hobbies that generation takes up. If possible I like to have a large playroom for the kids as well.
I've been mucking around the rules blog trying to fix areas where the font sizes get weird. While I was there, I changed Hobby/Obsession a bit, no longer requiring that the hobby be trait dependent. Not a huge issue, as I imagine most hobbies would be chosen based on a trait anyway. But I put in that it could be chosen based on the character of the Sim as you see it. I figure there might be some hobbies, like bug collecting (without selling them) that don't fall under a trait, but that would be acceptable for the goal and add to the Sim's character.

I prefer to have space in case of large families, since grandparents may be hanging around for a while, especially with slightly increased/tweaked lifespans due to Generations. The house Cali made for me has 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and a nursery. I added a studio on top of the carport myself, but there's plenty of space outside for misc. studio objects, as well as open space I could have used near the kitchen/living room area.
I don't miss my Riverview houses at all. They were awful. xD
For the scenes at Scott's place I used one of the houses that came with Generations. I forget what it's called, but it's one of the most adorable things ever. I placed it and some other Generations homes around Barnacle Bay, because there were a lot of empty residential lots no one could live in. In my Riverview legacy I constantly had pop-ups about how sims wanted to move, but the "housing market" sucked. I took steps to prevent the misery of my townspeople this time around.

I'm glad we've decided to keep the rule as I'm one of the players who like to stay in the same house for a whole legacy, so if I *did* roll that, it would definitely be a challenge for me.
As far as my house, Buckley, it's currently four bedrooms and a nursery. I have two master suites, like Melissa, that will be used to alternate between the heir and the grandparent, so for instance Morand's room will go to Flora, and Faith's room will go to Flora's heir at the appropriate time. Then I have two smaller bedrooms for spares. =) I also have the ability to add gigantic basement space if I wanted to put in a "teen suite" or something if needed.

I have the pics for an update now, but I don't think I'll have it up by the time I leave this evening.
My boyfriend is in the hospital (he had his large intestine removed yesterday), and he'll be there about a week. I'll be staying in the hospital room with him for a few nights possibly. Sometimes the nurses take a while to respond, so we'd both feel better if he's not alone at night. Last night his mother stayed with him.
Not that you guys needed an explanation for a stalled update, or... I don't know. Yeah. It'll be up when I can manage it.
I also like big rooms in my houses, so I can take good pictures. But not too big, because then it looks weird. See, I can never judge this when I design my own houses. That is why Melissa should work for EA and help them add a bunch of premade houses to the next expansion pack. <3

I'm sorry about your boyfriend, Becky. I hope he feels better soon! Take as much as time you need with the updates. No rush. :)
I also have the hardest time figuring out room sizes/layouts on my own. That's why I use other player's creations, cause they are like a gazillion times better than mine. I like the idea of having 2 master suites and alternating between them. I think I will try to do that. But yeah, my current house (the one I love so much) is definitely too small. So, I guess the change of scenery roll isn't so terrible after all. At least, not on generation 2.

*hugs* I'm so sorry your boyfriend is in the hospital. I hope he recovers swiftly and can come home soon!
EA's houses make really poor use of space. They have this tendency to make these one bedroom mansions that are totally useless. I have a feeling that the people who make houses for them don't actually play.
I build houses for playing in, so I'm always conscious Sim pathing issues, how much space Sims need to get around, and making them able to accommodate multi-generational living. EA builds houses as dumping grounds for all the new stuff in an EP, without much thought to the Sims that might actually live there.

Wow, hope your boyfriend recovers soon, Nuts.
My legacy house is just one bed and one bath currently, but I'm planning on expanding as I need the extra room. Right now I'm thinking of adding a hallway and extra bedroom downstairs, and then eventually an upstairs I haven't really considered much yet. With single parent and one kid as the first roll, my legacy's going to be pretty small for awhile, so I'm not in much of a hurry to make it bigger.

@Becky: That's terrible! My cousin went in for a similar surgery to help with his Crohn's Disease last year, so I know it can be pretty brutal. I really hope his recovery goes well.
And my Dennis house was pretty large... I actually scaled it down because I'm not a big fan of massive houses, but ended up having to cram everyone in. I don't think Corri and Ada were too happy having to share a room with their grandparents when I decided to delete a whole section of the house on a whim. :| Not to mention Ada kept stealing the big bed for herself on numerous occasions. Chaos ensued and curse words were exchanged (mentally) between me and my sims for a while.

I use it, mainly because I really like the look of some of the low energy beds and get annoyed by the fact that if I want my sims to get a decent night's sleep I'm so limited in which beds I can give them.

Ali, I can't imagine playing like that! How awful. Although, seeing all those idles would be interesting.
So, I've played sims since TS1, and for the first time ever I'm seriously attempting to build a house. And failing. Miserably. Lol, it's so hard! I have a new found admiration for all you creators. I lost my rabbit a few months ago, it was an agonizing death too. It made me feel like the most horrible pet owner ever, even though at the time I wasn't his owner. Complicated story, but the sum of it was that my mom gave our rabbit to a rather high-functioning client of hers (she works at various group homes), and a month or so after the rabbit had to be put down. At least he was put on laughing gas before his death, so his last moments were less painful. And I felt so bad for the client, she had just lost her guinea pig, and bonded so much with my bunny :(

When I was three my pet bunny got eaten by a wild dog just off the property. I don't remember it. But the only pet we've had since was a goldfish that lived for eight years. When it died my middle sister made herself sick from crying so hard. You guys all deserve big hugs for having to go through the death of a pet.

Hello
I'm back after such a long time, it's nice to see that the challenge is more alive than ever.. There are so much stories and blogs. ;) :gjob:
I just came back from Boston. I visited a few others places in New England. too. I fell in love with this part of USA. What a chance for those who live there
I'll start over a new legacy, but no blog (no time for that anymore, unfortunately) but I'll have pleasure to read the challenger's ones.
I'm looking forward Pets EP to be released. I think we should start to think about new careers (it seems that we can raise, buy and sell horses for example) and how pets will be introduced in the legacy rules , for example creating a new section about the number of pets a family is allowed to have, like the section B... Of course, we will have to wait a bit before we know how much sims and pets will be allowed in a same household. But it seems that this new EP will refund a lot of things in the random legacy... See you soon

I know I'm getting repetitive with all my planning updates, but I have a tad more people in it... 41 Greek mythology and 44 Norse (41 unless I can make 3 of them immortal or close to it). I'm going to have Arthur Pendragon (King Arthur), Guinevere and Uther (named after Arthurs father), Lancelot, his son Galahad and Galahad's mother, Elaine. Ah... Lilith and Dirk Pleasant-Dreamer, Angela and Dustin Broke-Dreamer, the obligatory: Alexander Goth, Cassandra Goth and her daughter Frankie as well as Michael Alto-Landgraab. Beau Merrick's sons from the 3 women, Blaine, Blaise and Blake. I've also got at least 1 sim from each of the legacies which have been put up (I was hoping to find Foster Emnity, but haven't, s'all good though, I'll make another heart-throb). In total, 42 households, 117 sims... And my computer isn't too far off.

Hi, mimi, welcome back! I love New England, it's where I'm from originally, though I live in California now.
We talked a little about rolling for the number of pets awhile ago. I prefer to leave that up to the player, and some others feel that way. An optional pet roll was suggested.
Whatever gets decided, there is a limit on how many humans and pets can fit in a family (There will still be the 8 human Sim limit, wit two slots added for pets, making 10 total slots. I think total cap on pets is 6). If you roll couple, 5 kids, you wouldn't be able to have more than 3 pets no matter what you rolled. At least not until the older kids started moving out. And then you'd run into generational overlap. If gen 1 rolls couple, 5 kids, and 5 pets, the last two pets couldn't move in until two of the kids reach YA and move out. So they'd be coming in the family very close to the start of gen 2 (or during it if the first child was heir.) Then gen 2 would have a separate pet roll...
So whatever rules we come up with, we have to keep the limits in mind.
Sadly there are no new jobs in Pets, but there are ways to make money with them. The horse breeding could be a new career (though I'm wondering how much room you need for stables to do that for income. That career could become a huge burden in terms of moving to a lot that can accommodate it properly).
Pets don't have jobs (yay) but I've heard they can collect stuff to be sold. We could roll for whether the generation is allowed to make money from pet activities.
Teal, I can put Foster Enmity up for you, no problem.

Thanks LadyAwesome and Calisims, ;)
I had thought about a kind of second family tree only for pets.. for example, if the generation 1 choose to have a horse, this horse (and his children and grandchildren...) would have to breed until the 10th generation as well (but I think pets lives are a bit shorter than humans lives, so it would be 15th or 16th generation at the end of the challenge)..
But it's ok for me too if we only have to choose if we want pets or not. There are so much rules in this challenge, that it's not really disturbing.
Even if there are not new real careers, I have read that our sims will be able to buy their horses at the equestrian center (I don't know for dogs or cats).. so a new career in C2 would be nice: horses raising or something like that.. Horses competitions will be in the game, so it could be included in the career too

And of course, the dogs and cats will be pretty stellar as well. I just hope it's not as glitchy as some of the other expansion packs...

I'm excited about this EP, but not for horses. I've never really cared much for horses.
But I'm a cat lover. I loved my cats in Sims 2 and I'm really excited to make Sim versions of Yin and Yang. (my RL cats)
Also, ice cream trucks. And the new small animals like lizards and turtles. And there's a new red flowering tree I've seen in screenshots that looks like it might be a bottlebrush plant. I'm really excited for that, as I've wanted one of those since Sims 1. Yeah, I get excited over new landscaping objects more than anything, lol.

I'm middlingly(?) excited about it. I am looking forward to my sims being able to adopt pets as any new things to round out their lives is good. I feel like I should be more excited about the horses, though, since that sounds like will be adding the most new stuff to do, but I'm not really a horse person I guess. The expansion I wish they'd bring back the most is Seasons, that added so much to the overall feel of the game.
For the challenge, maybe we could add something for it in the misc fun category? Something like a "Dog/Cat/Horse Lover" roll where the heir needs to have at least one of their chosen favorite animal and max out all it's skills or complete all of the wishes they roll related to their pet or something like that depending on what's available. That way we can include pets in the challenge, but it will just be a one generation thing instead of something you have to keep up with the whole way through.
And for the horse raising thing, what about making it a part of the current farming profession? It could become farmer/rancher and you can choose whether or not you want to grow a farm or raise horses. That way you could choose not to do the horses if it would require you to move or build a huge addition to your house.

Contrary to in real life, I'm not really excited by Pets in the game.. it's always painful having to control and check our sims, so with pets, playing could become really stressing.. However, I'm really excited by horses. I think they will add a lot of things in our game, and they are so realistic.. I'm not really excited by dogs or cats (Cats are not really great on screenshots) but like Calisims, I'm waiting for all the new things that will be added in the EP (icecream trucks, objects, new neighborood and so on.....)..

I like your idea of a Dog/ Cat/ Horse lover, MissPuff.. But I think that farmer should be distinct of rancher.. farmer is already linked to nectar maker.. So horses will be too much I think for an unique career..

Also: Buckley you're no longer allowed to make a post unless its for an update. I got all excited and then realized you weren't posting an update link. *Pouts*
Haha Cece. I wish I could update, but I'm currently working on my awesome goal and it's taking FOREVER. :(
I decided to build a series of parks, one for each life stage, and then have my heir purchase them for the family. There will be a playground for the toddlers and kids, a "romantic hideaway" (like a lover's lane type thing) for the teens, a wedding gazebo for the young adults, and (totally depressing but whatever) a graveyard for the elders. Not really sure what to do for the adults, but oh well.
I'm really excited about it, but I am only on my first lot (wedding gazebo). I may just use the prebuilt playground and cemetery and customize them a bit. I hope that still counts as "awesome", lol.

Hey, welcome back Mimi.
I'm back from the hospital (as if it wasn't obvious). Unfortunately my boyfriend is still there. =( I would still be there if I could be.
For the Pets stuff... I think we just need to wait and see...

So I got started a bit early with the Harris blog (I'm not going to post the chapters yet)... and I can't wait to be moving on. My last Dennis Chapters just feel like fillers... oh well.
And I'm glad you're back Nuts... and I hope everything is going okay with the boyfriend. It's always sucky to have someone you love in the hospital.
Another welcome back to mimi! I wasn't taking part in the challenge early on when you were here... so hello!
And I agree with Nuts... it's best just to wait until Pets comes out since so much seems to be rumor at this point. Although, that can't stop us from being excited and adding to the rumor mill.
I'm excited for objects; particularly the ice cream truck (although vending machines seemed to be dropped from the EP.... BOO!), but I'm still hesitant about adding pets. I played with pets in Sims 2 and they were annoying at best... although this time we get to control them. Also, I'm *really* hoping that the rumor regarding animal spawners in cities isn't true. I'm not too keen on having wild horses romping through the city streets. Also, if the spawners are as crazy as people are supposing; I sense another computer implosion on the way.
Edit: There's a lot of "also's," "another's," and "although's" in this post. Geeze! :jest:

...Besides, I really want to read it!
EDIT: So, I am playing my legacy, and I just stumbled across this woman who is stuck giving birth. When I click on her, the only option is "take to the hospital", but when you do, it just glitches and she stays in labor. She and her husband were married as young adults, and as he is now an elder close to death and she's still a Y/A, I think she's been that way for a while. Whoops!

I would try it again, I'm not sure why it would be fizzy, but it shouldn't be. None of my pictures are fizzy, right? *panics*
Anyway, you can make them all the same using a Blogger feature. You click on the picture once it's on your page, and it has a little toolbar underneath that says small, medium, large, extra large, and original size...and other stuff too, but it's not important for this. I use extra large, but it was a b**** to format the page to fit them without cutting off other stuff. So go with large or medium.

Okay, here is Foster Enmity (the founder of my previous legacy) as requested.
Also, I'm uploading Tania Summerdream (yes, it is short for Titania, lol) and Zhenzhen.
Zhen is in her green haired, really bright eyes form.
All Sims have been stripped of CC/Store items. Summerdream's top is from TLS, but the rest of the stuff will be from base game or EPs, no SPs.
Summerdream's original hair is from the Store, from a Surf collection. I put her in the base game hair with the flower for the DL. Also, I'm using the cheat to unlock all outfits, so I had barefeet available for shoes for her casual and formal outfits. I don't know what happens if you aren't using the cheat, she might show up in horrible shoes or something.
Foster wears CC facial hair in my game, I put him in a base game chin strap for the DL.

So my latest update is ALMOST done. Just waiting on a super important event :) But I wanted to share some tidbits of information.
I uploaded a bunch of everyone's legacy sims just as genetic fodder (aka not being in the story themselves, but possibly their children someday) AND I messed up my story progression so that it didn't show any stories, when I like to have it show romances and pregnancies of every sim. I was checking out everyone's relationship status and there were some good ones. Bea is married to Ethan <3 and Foster is married to Kamala. Eek! Ella Starr is also pregnant but with a random sim I created and Serenity has a child with... Michael Talliway! Fun stuff :) Update within the next 15 min.

Lol, I loathe real babies and toddlers. Hah no, I'm just kidding. I am writing this while babysitting a cranky 2-year-old, so I'm a bit biased right now. :)
Those are my least favorite stages, the baby and toddler ages. Also, elder because it makes me sad to see them all wrinkled and gray.
Melissa, I just looked at your outtakes page, and oh my goodness I love your house! I mean, I already knew that it was amazing from seeing it in Becky's blog, but it was nice to get to see the layout in full. On the topic of babies and toddlers :
Try raising three at once! I had to have everyone in the household sleeping in shifts, and even made Joven quit firefighting because I was convinced it would crash my game again. These triplets will be the end of me. I swear.
But yeah, heir was born in game with a mutation hair. It made me laugh so hard since its the exact same shade as Luke from Becky's legacy. At least I think it is. Poor kid. Everyone in his family has awesome beautiful hair tones. And he got light brown.
And yeah yeah. Cali is amazing at architecture and decorating. We know. (Seriously though. Totally not fair. I feel so proud of what I build until I read one of Cali's updates and see what her house looks like. Then I feel sad.)

Speaking about building houses is getting me excited for my next gen! I explain in the notes (which I have written... just starting the actual chapter though lol) that I re-rolled for Deadbeat Parents and got Change of Scenery. I have an idea for what I want it to look like but that's it right now. I'm going to try to build something as architectually beautiful as you Melissa... but first I have to remember what I learned from that major before I switched to CompSci. Auto-Cad here I come! (I build all of my houses in that before attempting to in the sims... yeah, I'm a nerd  )

I think my houses suck because I just wing 'em. I mean, I always have the basic outline in my mind but it never actually works out that way. I think the only reason I like my current legacy house is because the windows I picked offer amazing views no matter what. <3 This lot.
I'm thinking of adding a basement for expansion since I like the house as is for now and can't really see where or how else I could add in more room.

Haha. Well, in that case... :D
Hmm. There is a beautiful 40x40 lot in Anne Arbor. The only thing is that the street in front of it dead ends into it. So, building any sort of driveway is tricky. Actually, now that I think about it, there is another 40x40 lot I could use that has a road all the way in front. So 40x40, with whatever sort of driveway you want.

I usually get my sims' names from baby name sites, hehe. Although Rachel was different, I used a random name generator I found online for hers. Although I rolled like 50 names or something before I finally chose one, and I chose the first and lasts names from separate rolls, so it kind of defeated the point of being random.
I've played through what I've needed for my next update, but I ran into soo many problems getting sims to do what I was telling them to do and with random sims getting in the way, I swear they were totally working against me. I seriously started yelling at my bf about how frustrating it was at one point. >< But, yeah, I haven't played or worked on my blog since then so it'll be another day or so before my next update. ^^;

I get names from all over the place. I've named some from books (Shadow and Spider McDermott were named from characters in two different Gaiman novels) and I sometimes use baby name sites. Especially if I'm looking for a specific nationality, like I got Li Feng's name from a Chinese name site. Sometimes I know what I'm going to name a Sim before they're born, and sometimes I'm scrambling around at the last minute looking for a name.

As far as naming goes, I usually just look for "unique" ones at baby sites... mostly because my creativity when it comes to naming is nil. Adamaris I got from an Irish site, even though it is apparently a French name? Wut.

I think my next legacy will be in Hidden Springs. I really fell in love with some of the community lots.
I spent the night in the hospital with my boyfriend last night (tonight his mom wanted to stay again, so I am back at the house). He had a pretty rough night. =( He improved later on in the day though, and the doctors seem to think he's on the right track now and will send him home tomorrow unless something happens. So.. uh... fingers crossed, or whatever superstition.

Now I feel weird bitching about some minor inconvenience I was experiencing in my Sims world. It just seems so stupid compared to everything else. Instead I'll just ask a challenge related question that I've been wondering about. :) My celebrity Sims keep getting sent gifts, and I haven't done anything with them cause I'm not sure what the rules are in that regard. Are we allowed to sell them? I didn't see anything in the rules, but I didn't look that closely either.

Thanks for the support everyone.
Though it feels cheaty, to be given expensive items for basically nothing, it is not technically against the rules to do whatever you please with these items... since "being a celebrity" is not on the job rolls, and it's permissible to make money in any way that isn't covered by job rolls.
I think "being a celebrity and making money via gifts" was once either a roll or maybe it was up for consideration to be one, but I don't remember.
Personally I just don't allow celebrities in my game, period, because the way EA handled it makes me unhappy.
But I did take advantage of Generations' new wedding gifts thing, heh. The money-challenged founders of my current legacy received several gifts from the family ghosts, which Ace decided were sent by "practical jokers" and promptly sold.
Edit: also in an un-modded game, being a celebrity will give you so many scandals and annoyances that I feel you more than earned those items. *shudder*

All my heirs have been at least three star celebrities just because of their parents (... And because I think it suits with their surname). I haven't really played it into the story until recently, or with only one or two times a generation. Dastan's is the first generation (besides Matthew's) were its a central part of the story for the generation.
Buckley

Personally I just don't allow celebrities in my game, period, because the way EA handled it makes me unhappy.
I also *really* dislike the celebrity system. I was planning on avoiding the whole celebrity thing, but then I rolled film actor for my second generation primary income. And I haven't really played that career so I wanted to try it out.
But I got really annoyed when my 1 star celebrity married someone with absolutely no stars, and then he leapt to 3 stars and his wife got 2 stars. I mean, wtf? And now they are both getting weird "gifts".
It does feel like cheating to me too. Maybe not cheating exactly, but taking advantage of EA's stupidity. It definitely takes some of the challenge away. I'm not really hurting for money at this point, so maybe I'll just ignore the stuff. I'm actually going to master controller away the celebrity disease as soon as my second generation dies. The scandals drive me crazy!
calisims
30th Sep 2011, 04:54 AM
I hate the celebrity system as well. Unless my Sims are in a fame type career, I use master controller to get rid of their stars. And maybe it's just me, but my Sims who are celebrities don't get a lot of gifts. Hawke, for instance, is a five star celebrity now, and had three stars early on, and has to date gotten one gift, a telescope.
My Sims make more on wedding gifts, lol.

I just wiped out the stars of everyone in town when I started gameplay, and changed SP settings to not allow celebrities into my town.
In my last legacy Randi Archer died with 2 stars to her name. Every time her ghost appeared, she immediately infected any living family member she spoke to... and there is no MC setting to delete stars on ghosts. Just a heads up.
So poor Randy and Randi were two of the only ghosts I left behind when moving to Barnacle Bay. x.x
calisims
30th Sep 2011, 01:14 PM
O_o Really, Cali? Maybe its a mod you're using...?
No, I think it's just random. In my last legacy, Aislin and Trent got a lot more gifts, but most of the time my celebrity Sims get maybe one or two gifts in their generation. Jasmin used to get toilets and grills. I rarely get anything of value as a celebrity gift, but for weddings I frequently get really expensive fountains and sculptures.
My Sims make more on opportunities than celebrity gifts, so I've never considered it cheating to just sell the stuff. And usually by the time I start getting celebrity gifts, my family is already too rich to even notice the extra money.
But obviously you can just leave the stuff sit in the family bin,or use MC to make the stuff wort nothing and delete it if you feel cheaty about it.
There did used to be a Celebrity career in the challenge, but it got scrubbed as being redundant with the 5 star celebrity goal.

This is totally unhelpful, but I had that problem once and I did *something* to fix it. Can't for the life of me remember what though. I'm guessing you tried the "resetSim" cheat? And do you have Twallan's overwatch mod? I believe that has a mechanic that resets elevators during the nightly clean up. If you don't have it, I'd highly recommend it for multiple reasons. It's automatically clears out extra cars and recovers "missing" sims and stuff. Very useful. :)
Also, Twallan's debugenabler mod allows you to manually reset the elevator. Maybe try installing that?
Other than that, I'm clueless. Hope you can figure it out! Good luck!

Happy Birthday (preemptively) Emma. I don't know how old you are turning, but hopefully you're at an age where you can actually enjoy it.
I'm turning 23 in January and I, for one, am not looking forward to being any closer to the big 3-0. Argh.
Also, I'm done with my midterm... and actually managed to stay awake through the whole ordeal! *dances* Although I did get a few stares from my professor because I kept laughing at the sounds my chair was making every time I moved. My tired brain apparently finds EVERYTHING hilarious.
Edit: I took a look at my stats, and I'm getting quite the Malaysian following. :wtf: When did that happen?

I goofed off during my entire midterm and started doodling with the extra time. Finished in 5 minutes when we were given 30. Got bored after about 6. I'm amazed I was in the top 3 scores.

Happy almost-birthday, Emma! It's still Friday here, but here's an early birthday present for you: Chapter Five (http://keattslegacy.blogspot.com/2011/09/chapter-five-weekend-away.html). ;)
It's a long update, too. Most of my chapters have around 25 pictures, but this one has 50! o.o
And none of you are allowed to complain about your age, I'm 29 over here! Luckily my birthday isn't until next year, so I can still justify hanging around you twenty-somethings for a little while longer.

Happy Birthday. You'd be long into the celebrations over here. Us Aussies tend to start birthday drinks at like 10am.
And cos we're all sharing, I'm 21. Most of us still have big celebrations (any excuse for a blow out) but we can legally drink in public at 18, so we've generally had a good 3 years practice.

Mine is November 3rd! Hah! Love it! Scorpios are the best. :P
That's awesome about your midterm Cece. I never finish exams early. Might have something to do with being a science major.... Or perhaps it's just cause I'm slooooowwwww. :)
Giga, I have quite a Chilean following. I get hits from there a lot. Which is awesome and makes me feel loved. I also have some hits from Malaysia and Russia and some other random places that I can't think of. Those are my favorites. I actually googled Malaysia to see where it was, cause I'm just that cool. (Or stupid. You pick. :))

Buckley: I have the Russian & South African readers, but the Malaysian numbers just exploded within the last three days (I'm talking about 15 views just today). WHAAA? They helped the blog officially reach 1400 views though (which I suspect about 100 of those are just me going through and making sure everything looks okay).. so that's pretty darn cool.
And Congratulations Cece on your midterm. At least one of us passed ours. Although I honestly can't remember most of the questions that were asked on mine (I'm blaming sleep deprivation on that one), which is never a good sign. Man, now I'm worried if my answers were even legible since I was pretty much spaced out for the last 15 minutes of the exam. Maybe that's the real reason why my professor kept giving me the stink eye. Blast.

The Chilean hits might be from my cousin but don't quote me on that. I haven't talked to her since the name thing.
New Zealand, Indonesia and Latvia have been my weird spikes as of late. I mean, I always get New Zealand views. It's the sudden number of them that caught me off guard.

I love the readers from exotic locals. It's fun to see that people all over the world looked at my little blog. And Cece, the New Zealand is probably Lady Awesome. I think I read a while back that she's from there.

Ch. 126: Friggin Kids, Man http://starrsimslegacy.blogspot.com/2011/10/ch-126-friggin-kids-man.html
I have enough material for about two more chapters which will get me through the weekend. And then I'm MIA until I can get caught up with my homework. Plus that 2000 word feature article on Riot Mentality... fudge. I should probably start that. I'm actually getting paid for that one.

I may hate these kids. But even I have to admit that they're friggin adorable. Its really hard to pick a favourite. But Katrina does have the best facial expressions.
The next few chapters (including this one) are mostly just filler to get through gen 10's youth. But once they're teenagers things will probably start slowing down again. Hopefully enough for me to get some buffer back. I don't actually have the next chapter written, and only enough pictures for half of it. And I played for four hours last night!

So I had a question. Would using the wish reward Inheritance that is available in Generations be cheating or would it be allowed since it is not a game cheat?
Also out of curiosity what determines sim's "nudity." My family female sims and several random sims are wearing skinny jeans in the shower. Not that it is a big deal it just seemed really weird to me and I always wondered about that anyways since sometimes I will notice the most random hair styles as well.
NutsAndDolts
3rd Oct 2011, 01:41 AM
There is currently no official rule against using that reward. You could impose the rule upon yourself if you want to, though.
Nudity is treated like an outfit. The jeans must have been mistakenly enabled for the "naked" wear. If you have MasterController, you can wait for your sim to be "nude" and then go into stylist with MasterController. It'll let you change and save their hair... but, not sure about clothes since I never had that problem. D=
CyyKosis
3rd Oct 2011, 02:07 AM
It should work that way for clothes as well Beezer.
calisims
3rd Oct 2011, 02:19 AM
Beezer, if the jeans are CC, it's possible that the creator enabled them for nude as well. Like Nuts said, you can change the nude outfit using master controller. First you'd need to use master controller to change CAS settings to disable the clothing filter, so that nude bottoms are available in CAS. Then wait for the Sim to get nude and click on them to enter Stylist and change the pants back to nude.

Hey, Colleen. I tried downloading Anne Arbor this weekend so I could build a house on the lot with the dead end street. But for some reason I can't load the neighborhood. It says it was saved with EP stuff I don't have, but I have all EPs and SPs, all patched. (I tried both the .sims3pack and the save game versions).
So, anyway, not a big deal, I can build on any flat 40x40. But I was kind of busy this weekend, so I didn't get to it. I know you need it for this generation's goal, I don't want to hold you up. Will next weekend be okay?

No rush at all. Take as much time as you need/want. Next weekend will be more than fine, or the weekend after, or whenever you get to it. :) It won't hold me up at all, and even if it does I am more than happy to wait. Getting one of your houses is totally worth it.

I am playing with Anne Arbor too Melissa, and I'm almost positive from looking around a bit (from picking a lot to design my own house on) that the creator made the empty lots flat, if that's what you were downloading it to do. I'm sad it didn't work for you because it really is a lovely neighborhood.
