Just my sister and I this year - normally would spend at least some of xmas with family. We'll do some of our traditions like french toast for breakfast and we have lunch and xmas movies and jigsaws planned. My mother panicked when my sister was visiting a few months ago that we wouldn't have anything to put under our tree and went out and bought a bunch of little presents for us. We might get together with some other 'orphans' (folk who don't have any family here either) for dinner.
Then on Boxing Day we're going to the cricket. Pity we're playing so terribly but should be good anyway.

For Boxing day, I'm going shopping, since I need to buy a birthday present for somebody on the 9th, and the less money I spend on it, the better.
Question, does Canada have any sims card/EA cards anywhere. I'll look all over if they are, but I'm not searching the world if they aren't. I hear some places they are, some they're not. So I'm confused and annoyed.

...Stupid question (I'm sure). Boxing day? What's that?

It's the day after Christmas, it's celebrated in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. And some other places I think. I don't know what it was for originally, but it's pretty much a day to shop until you drop XD Now there's boxing week, because a day just isn't enough *shakes head*

I always forget Americans don't know about boxing day...
Boxing day is the greatest day of the year. Every store in the country (Of Canada) with maybe... 2 or 3 exceptions has amazing sales (Even better then Black Friday) to the point of their being officers at some of the malls by my place. And the best part? It's post-Christmas so everything you buy is for YOU.
My friends and I are getting up at 6 to hit the mall line up early. I hear coach is having a 60% off sale and I need a new purse for the new year.

This is *sort of* related, but me and my cousin have been swapping inappropriate holiday ecards just because - well I got an email from another relative about an hour ago and I apparently mixed up my outgoing mail, so I ended up sending this to my great aunt.

My grandparents got nothing. Our family has this thing of "don't expect much once you're over 18". Except from dad, we rarely get presents. Could also be because we've been unofficially disowned...

My immediate family is jewish and the rest of the family make a daily appearance at my grandfather's church. That he runs. As pastor. I got a telephone call from him earlier saying we were slacking off by not having a Christmas tree up yet, and when that part of the family babysat my sister and I as kids they used to smuggle us into sunday school and baptisms.
Yeah, any holiday is pretty awkward in my family.
This year we'll be observing the traditional jewish holiday of going to the movies and eating chinese food on December 25. As for New Year's, my significant other is military (and the not-here-right-now kind of military) so I'll be alternating between obsessive Skyping and the Sims all night.

Next time he tells you you're slacking off by not having a tree, tell him that the "Christmas" trees and wreathes are pagan in origin.
In fact everything that isn't obviously a religious reference is from an earlier source, including the time of year the holiday is celebrated.
I'll spend the 25th putting up with a crowd of not-yet in-laws. Crowds make me really nervous, heh.

Well, I was supposed to be visiting three different houses of relatives on Christmas, but my bf got in a car accident yesterday (he's fine and it wasn't his fault!) and the car got towed and we probably won't be getting it back in time. I'm hoping that means we'll get to stay home with the drinking and gaming crowd, but someone might come pick us up instead. At the very least, we'll be seeing fewer people than originally planned, which I'm pretty relieved about.

well over here we don't do present at christmas. We do however are probably going to spend first christmas day going out, walking in the forest or something like that, doing something with the kids, and then diner at my parents (just sugarbread, not anything fancy) and then second day of christmas we are at my parents in law, she organized a brunch.....though for me it will probably be two days filled with food i'm not allowed to eat (so i am already grumpy at forehand (that is, if i said that correctly :P))

And I have two and a half households to make. So I should be done with that tomorrow, plus maybe a day or two of play sessions, equals an update for Altin in time for Christmas. I'm not even remotely Christian anymore, but I still love my tree. One year I had an evangelical neighbor knocking on my door when she saw my tree in the window.
She wanted me to join her prayer group or whatever. I told her I wasn't Christian and she was very affronted by this. "You have a tree!" she exclaimed.
I almost told her it was a pagan tree, but I decided not to freak her out any further. She was stalking me enough as it was.
I know how you feel about crowds. I'm so happy I live too far from my family to have to deal with their gatherings. But that was kind of the point of moving so far away, not having to deal with them.
NutsAndDolts
22nd Dec 2011, 1:31 PM
I'm afraid I'll get myself and my house set on fire one of these days, because I take on religious people in arguments they start as much as I shrug and ignore them.
Anyway I like the original thought of the tree. "Ah, this lovely tree thrives even when everything else appears to die; let us bring parts of it into our homes for good luck through this disagreeably cold season."
When we're out on our own, my boyfriend and I will probably have an "entirely commercial" tree, full of ornaments such as That One with Johnny Quest Slaying a Dragon, That One with Wolverine Impaling Presents on his Claws, and That Space Ghost One. He has quite a collection of these, because his relatives buy them for him every year for some reason.
I also adore trees that have only colored ball ornaments. I don't know why. One year we're going to have to do that.
Klevkin
22nd Dec 2011, 1:52 PM
My ears are ringing with all this talk about trees:D are trees related to christianity?? Over here everybody has a tree, religious or not. And we all decorate with balls mostly......let me add a picture of our tree :) i would not know what to put in it other then stuff like this tbh! Normally we do have a bit more in there, but my baby boy is 10 months old and we were a bit afraid he would wreck the tree....

My tree has a lot of dragons and fairies on it. Also, three Hindu gods, two Chinese astrological ornaments (monkey and tiger) and a Hopi Kachina. I also like having a variety of insects, reptiles, and mammals represented. There are at least 5 cats, probably a lot more. And a mermaid made of spun glass, by the same artist that made my new dragon ornament I posted awhile back. Now I've named her Ico, to go with Aymeri the blue dragon, lol. I've also got a wooden Santa sitting on a flying pig. That's the only ornament I have that's actually christmasy, though the flying pig is questionable. It was so absurd, I had to have it.
I've stopped arguing with religious types, I just don't have the energy, and I just don't care enough. I remember one guy on the bus once announcing that Jesus was black as we passed a Catholic church. So I just came back with "Krishna was blue." That really confused him.

Your tree is pretty Klev.
We don't decorate at my place. We're far too lazy. We did steal a few lines of lights from a neighbor last year (he wasn't using them, okay?) and decorated one random bush in our front yard. We ended up leaving them in that bush way past my birthday in late January, when they apparently set a portion of the bush on fire. That was the end of our decorating stint.
On a related note: I don't fight with the religious anymore; mostly because I'm in a predominantly LDS area and they tend to take things to the next level (sending missionaries to my house, for instance). No thanks.

Klev, your tree is lovely!
The trees predate Christianity and were part of Germanic pagan winter traditions, and were later incorporated into Christmas traditions in Germanic countries. Queen Victoria's husband Albert brought the Christmas tree tradition to England, and it became a fad, spreading to Anglophile America and other English ruled countries.

rofl :D fun part is, santa is not actually religious either :P so religiously spoken not christmas either
I love that you placed Ico next to Aymeri :D i loved the ornaments you showed! :D
i don't mind people being religious (i am myself, though not strict or severe, we don't go to church or anything), i hate it though when people try to get you to "join" and think everything they do is right, and everyone else is wrong. Some people are just annoying like that and really do think that other people don't deserve a good life unless they do as they say....
christmas should be fun for everyone, no matter what you believe or not :D
ugh! but before we get a religion discussion going on here :S perhaps we should focus on the trees and santas and ornaments

I don't know if I've told this story before (probably), but I'm telling it again anyway. :) I went to a Catholic, all-girls, college prep high school. My freshmen year, my faith teacher, a highly respected, much beloved elderly man who also happened to be a Jesuit priest, started lecturing the class about purgatory. Now, out of a class of 20 girls, I was the only one who was not baptized. Every single other student in that class, and I'm not exaggerating, was Catholic. Well, I started to argue with the teacher about this idea of purgatory. I found it unacceptable that I would be doomed because no one bothered to sprinkle water on my head as a baby. Anyway, to make a long story short, my classmates, some of whom I regarded as friends, decided that our teacher, the priest, needed to baptize me right then and there. When I refused, they became mean about it, saying that if I didn't I'd go to hell. For a shy 14-year-old, it was really kind of traumatizing. I don't argue with people about religion anymore, because I'd rather just not encounter their wrath.

Just wanted to share a Twallan's SP moment with you guys:
So Dieter and Liesel are from an old "single with help" legacy game. In it, Dieter had a child with Blair Wainwright: Axel. I got tired of that game, deleted it but saved some of the sims to start over with some day.
SP had Dieter marry Blair Wainwright in the new game. There were other choices out there, so I'm a bit creeped out that it did in this game what I did in the old game.

Klev, you do not have to Deadbeat parents again if you'd prefer not to.Yeah, I rolled Deadbeat again and said "SCREW YOU" (the rules favour this one though, since I just had it this generation :P)
And yes, this is during my melodrama with wanting Irish and Kipp to be the best parents EVER!

Ima go ahead and roll now, then I'll start making the family ready for the 25th. I'm so excited.
Marital Structure: Single Parent with 'help'
Number of children: 2
Primary Income: Law Enforcement (Super Spy)
Secondary Income: Part Time Job
Generation Goal: Expansionist
More Fun: Random
Hmmm, this could be fun :D

Haha, I never know what to do with Expansionist in the first generation. Doesn't building the house already count?
ReyaD
23rd Dec 2011, 4:21 AM
Well I guess if you start with a pre-made house expantionist would refer to adding something onto that... at least, thats the way I look at it. I'm always too lazy to start from scratch when doing a legacy.
Zokugai

Yeah, but I tend to play Sims 2 legacy style. It's more fun for me to build a house custom to my family.
I've been spending too much time in the Sims lately, I think. I woke up this morning and went "You know what? Legacy challenges are reeeeally unrealistic." Something about the real life equivalent being living in the same house for seven hundred years etc etc. I may have been overanalyzing it slightly.

I really didn't want to tell anyone about this, but since its affecting my legacy now I figure you guys should know. For my past, well, entire life, I've had a lot of health problems with fainting, dizzyness and weird blood pressures. At first they thought it was diabetes, but then they found out that it was due to interior birth deformities that they never caught. I went in for surgery in August of this summer and they thought they fixed the problem... now it turns out that may not be the case. Before my surgery, I couldn't do much without feeling weird. Post surgery, I can't do much without being in pain. I just found out from my doctor that they want to do a second surgery sooner rather than later and frankly I'm terrified. The doctors say there's nothing wrong with me now and that the pain is all in my head but I know its not. And frankly, if thats the case going crazy scares me more than being in real pain.
At least for a while I probably won't be on as much because I'll be using other sites as distractions and talking to friends who I know have gone through similar things (Multiple surgeries, mental issues, etc.). Updates for my legacy will probably continue as normal (With a break for Christmas Eve/Day) but I just won't be on as much as before. I should still respond to PMs within a day because my phone beeps until I read them.
I just... ugh. I need hugs.
EDIT: Last update until Monday morning. Honestly the end will piss everybody off because its my first "real" cliffie so that makes my inner sadist smile. And cheers me up a bit.

On another subject, does anyone have any favorite houses up on a download somewhere? They don't have to be starter, but they do have to be small lotsize (15x20 would be ideal) for the most part, although I can do larger if it's more urban/industrial. another few questions, when you're a farmer, are you allowed to register as a gardener?? or is that the purpose of being a farmer?? cause it does talk about two careers...so the actual question here is, is farmer becoming a gardener?? Or am I missing something?
other question, when you adopt, what counts for the nr# of child, the age, or the order in which you adopt?? Say you have 3 children, and after that, you adopt a 4th, but its age put it right in between child nr 2 and 3. Will it be nr. 3 or will it be nr 4.........(its for when you roll for heir....)
calisims
23rd Dec 2011, 1:08 PM
When you roll farmer, you can register as a gardner or as a nectar maker (the two careers are packed into one roll so no one is forced to travel to get fruits and nectar makers if they prefer not. So when you roll farmer, you get a choice of two kinds of farming.)
As for the number of children, however you want to do it is fine. That's an optional rule to begin with.
Cece, I hope you get sorted out. *big hugs*

Klevkin

lol well apparently :D cause i clicked her to start training hunting for the pets goal, and all i got was giving her the order to hunt, so i checked her skills and they are all maxed out!
calisims
23rd Dec 2011, 2:04 PM
That's interesting about the skills cloning, I had no idea. I would say that that wouldn't count toward the goal, though, because it was maxed from cloning. But if you want you can use MC to reduce her skill level back to 0 and then max it up again normally.
Yes, you can eat life fruit. You can also change your age stages to lengthen or shorten any individual stage.
Klevkin
23rd Dec 2011, 2:11 PM
thanks :D thats a good idea actually, putting her skill level back to zero, or i might just go and get a cat :P
good, the life fruit is cool, i already changed them, i hate babystage :P so i shortened that and lengthened some other stage (don't remember which) but when I moved Danya in, I discovered that she is 10 days older, but she should have been younger, because I moved her in after Boy already was an YA........so something went wrong.......so I want to make her younger by letting her eat life fruit

23rd Dec 2011, 2:34 PM
Klev, when you move a Sim into your neighborhood from the bin, the game staggers their ages. So, while you made her a young adult in CAS, she will start somewhere in the young adult phase, not always at the beginning. I usually reset the ages of the Sims that I move into my neighborhood using Master Controller. I'm not sure if the rules frown upon this, but since you said that she should have been younger than Boy you can probably do the same.
Cece, I hope you feel better soon. *big hugs*
calisims
23rd Dec 2011, 2:56 PM
Yeah, you can reset the ages of Sims you move into the neighborhood, including your legacy founders. It's not fair to have the game randomly shave a bunch of days off your founding Sim's life.

I don't think the skills are from cloning. If I recall correctly, all pets tend to inherit (some/all of) the skills of their parents.
Zokugai
23rd Dec 2011, 6:28 PM
Well, they're optional, aren't they? I was going to use them, but I rolled perfectionist for Spot, and maxing a skill is just something you'd do anyway, rule or no. Maybe they need to be rewritten, I get the impression they're from when Pets was brand new and no one understood how it worked.
I do like the ten generation pets rule, that's straight out of playing a Sims 2 legacy with pets installed.
EDIT: Looking at them again...there's nothing wrong with applying Fulfilled to pets. The fact that Fighter can't be done with horses is a bit of a pain in the ass to me, because I'd have that in the bag two days into my gen one...and the ten generation rule is great.
But yeah, once you get past pets gen 1, perfectionist is meaningless. And I don't really see the point in Explorer either. They just have to go to another lot by themselves? They do that autonomously.
calisims
23rd Dec 2011, 6:37 PM
The Perfectionist originally required not just maxing of a skill, but also completing all the skill challenges for that skill. But there was some concern that completing all those challenges would be impossible/too difficult, so I changed it. So whatever, do what you want.

I like having goals for my pets :p. So Yay for them, but perhaps we can do something to make them fit better, for the perfectionist perhaps that if the skill is maxed at birth you should go for those challenges? It's all right, Colleen.
There did seem to be more enthusiasm about the pet rules when they were first added. But then there was more enthusiasm for pets in general then, too. I know I'm kind of jaded on them now. They were cute at first, but attending to their needs is a pain in the ass, so not only am I not using pet rules, when the pets I have die off, I'm probably not going to have any more pets. At least not for awhile.
Anyway, I'm open to any ideas for new pet rules or changes to the ones that are there.
Klev, the challenges for the hunting skill for cats and dogs are to find/hunt 50 of each kind of thing. So, for dogs, one challenge to find 50 gems, one to find 50 metals, etc, for cats it's 50 insects, 50 reptiles. etc.
I did test the rule with my first cat Frenzy on normal lifespan. She was able to complete all the challenges except the fishing. Which I she probably could have achieved, I just didn't send her out fishing often enough. They do go slowly at first, and it gets easier when the pet is higher level in the skill, and when they get the Alpha Pet reward. So I could see why Mimii was worried that they couldn't be done.
So, if you are up for testing the rule with Tiny, try to see how many of the challenges you can complete with her and let us know how it goes.
They are optional rules, and there's no penalty for failure.
Zokugai
23rd Dec 2011, 10:34 PM
When my next foal is born I'll run through and see how doable the horse skill challenges are on normal lifetime, but I can tell right now at least one of them will be impossible if you haven't rolled the horseman career. There's a "win X races/jumping competitions" one.

Yeah, I made a note of that when I wrote the original rule that required doing the challenges. There also several exceptions like that in the Perfectionist rules for Sims, for skill challenges that require making money when your Sim isn't in the appropriate career.
In those cases you just do the skill challenges you are allowed to do.
Edit: And thanks for testing the horse challenges for us.

It takes FOREVER to spawn things in vacation worlds, but they do spawn. The thing that gets me every time is the red assassin beetle in China. Takes ages, and you need them to finish the storyline.

For all those people who have finished at least one legacy, how did you feel at the end of it?
I was really excited for the end of my Starr Legacy because of the story I'd planned for it, but when I realized it meant leaving Sunset Valley and all the characters in it... my heart broke a little. For me, it was a really sad experience, which is why I pulled some characters from my old legacy into this one and refuse to let Marie and Angel die off. >_> They are special to me. The Starrs were my first family that I played with for more than three generations, so it was hard for me to let go. I think the end of the Sabo legacy will be even worse for me since I already have a plan for the gen 11 heir and the end of the legacy (and it doesn't involve a continuation).
Zokugai
24th Dec 2011, 6:10 AM
So. I finally finished the neighborhood, moved all the sims in, and started to testplay it, and discovered there's a massive unfixable (for me at least) routing error on the main bridge into town. So I can't use the neighborhood for a legacy.

I'm going to take a couple that were custom-made to fit the plotline with me, and I think I'll try Aspen Islands (http://anva.modthesims.info/d/457147). Because...well...it makes me gasp to see it ingame. Tad bit worried about the commute time but I won't do something stupid like placing the family's lot on the other end of town from the crime rabbithole.
So I'll probably spend the rest of the evening updating the hood to have the minor pet spawners etc and I'll still be ready to go tomorrow.
The problem I was finding with the hood I was going to use, Finnington, is that the main residential area and the main workplace area are separated by a big bridge. And there's something wonky about how the bridge connects to land; I had five sims all trying to cross that one spot from either direction and none of them could make it.
Buckley

Zoku, Aspen Islands looks beautiful! I can't wait to see some screenshots of it in your blog. :)
Does anyone know when your game save file is considered "bloated"? Like, when the size of the file has become too large? If you don't mind my asking, I'm curious what the size of y'alls files are. (That sounds dirty. Haha.) My Appaloosa Plains game save is almost at 200MB, and my Anne Arbor one was nearly quadruple that size. I worry a lot about lag and error 12s (although I haven't heard much about that problem recently), so I'm considering using Twallan's porter and moving some of my town into a new AP and pretending it didn't happen in story. What do y'all think? Am I overreacting?
Zokugai
24th Dec 2011, 6:59 AM
Well, I found this in another thread.
I figured out a reason why your save game might have been expanding so fast, too. Mine did that when I installed Ambitions and played in Twinbrook. My save file increased from 20 to 35 MB in a few sim weeks, which is an insane rate of growth.
For some reason, my game had decided to generate ridiculously large numbers of homeless sims to fill in roles around town. Things like Stylist, Consignment Register, Tattooist... I was getting hundreds of homeless sims every day. Once I realised, I used Twallan's Register mod to assign the roles properly, and then used Overwatch to clear out the homeless sims. (There's an option that'll automatically clear them every night - make sure it's set to True). Then my game size shrunk back to what it should have been, and the weird lagging I was getting cleared up.
And in terms of size:
You don't need to be afraid for the safety of your save game until it gets over 100 MB - and that's 100 MB for the main Neighbourhood. For example, right now my biggest save game is 98.2 MB - but I have all the Vacation Destination 'hoods on that save too. The SunsetValley.nhd file is only 32.1 MB. Having said this, please make sure that you're on the most recent patch for all your Sims 3 games. The error 12 business should mostly have been solved by now. Also, Twallan's mods are for the most recent patch, and if you try to run them with older code, Bad Things will happen.

I had some error 12s not to long ago, but luckily it was not in this legacy. I never even heard of that error until then and that's why I started using the saver. so I save every 15 minutes and I have 4 diff saves for that. So far so good though in my legacy game!
I'm currently at work (just woke up, have a sleepshift) so I can't tell you if mineis bigger :p
You could always just wait and see if the error appears, that way you don't have to leave your town until its absolutely necessary

Same here (well, not on the frying pan, although since it's technically not tomorrow yet here I suppose that's a possibility too...). And I was clever this time and tested my hood before I started customizing it. And then backed it up. Four times.

EDIT: Also if anyone's interested, my Meadow Glenn census is complete. Click here. (http://sabomgfamilies.blogspot.com/) Only the Sabo family has photos, but others will probably be added later as well. Every couple of days I plan on updating the pages with new additions/deaths/bios/etc. Hope at least ONE person finds entertainment in all that work.

Marital Structure: Single Parent with 'help'
Number of children: 2
Primary Income: Law Enforcement (Super Spy)
Secondary Income: Part Time Job
Generation Goal: Expansionist
More Fun: Random
Hmmm, this could be fun :D
I'm re-rolling the generation goal for this one seeing as it's the first generation and i add to the house simply to accomodate the kids anyway. I've rolled: Expansionist FML... next: Perfect Careers. That's better :D

Aspen Islands has every bar type. And from what I've been able to play with it, transportation is surprisingly fast, because it has subways hidden in it.

I'm playing Hidden Springs, but it doesn't have the LN stuff (although it has a number of easily converted community lots) and you do have to pay for it since it's a store world

I'm in Appaloosa Plains, but if I recall correctly you don't have Pets yet. I played in Anne Arbor for a while (from My Sim Realty), but it turned out to be quite glitchy and lagged a lot after I installed Pets. Also, I don't know about everyone else, but I have found that the big buildings from Late Night have a lot of glitches (like Sims spawning in those out-of-bounds areas). Just a word of caution if you decide to use a town with the skyscrapers. :)
EDIT: Ali, how do you like Hidden Springs? Have you found that the layout is pretty playable/user-friendly? I haven't done much exploring there yet, but I want to. Also, what about the terrain paint? Do you think the colors are realistic and what not? From the pictures, it looks really pretty, but I worry that the green is just too... green. I'd love to hear your opinion.

I really like it, haven't noticed any issues playability-wise and I quite like how green it is, I find some of the views are quite spectacular. The only issue is trying to find suitable places for the rabbitholes which done't come with it and it does take a while to convert the various community lots into LN clubs if you want to do that

I'm playing in Meadow Glenn and I just adore the way the city looks and is laid out. Although I did have some trouble finding places for certain rabbit holes. But its all good now. I'm going to be adding them only as needed.
Neverglade was my favourite town strictly for aesthetics, and I am STILL in love with it... but it began glitching terribly on me after I downloaded Pets. I'm still trying to fix it though because... well... I'm in love with the town, and I'd love to be able to play in it again.

Ahh, that wasn't just with me, then. Yeah, he gets stuck in the corner. And removing the rocks won't fix it, you then have to go into build mode and flatten that area of the lot. There isn't enough space for him to walk around the corner of the pond out to where your sim is.

I've got seven hours left here. Should have my chapter published in under an hour...and it's, uh, longish. I had a bit of a "MUST POST AS MANY PICTURES AS POSSIBLE BEFORE COMPUTER SABOTAGES ITSELF AGAIN" moment.
Altin was a pain to work with during it. I needed him to do the "whisper in ear" interaction with someone and he would, but he'd get a nice long series of entirely inappropriate speechbubbles. I mean, come on, Altin, you met them five minutes ago, keep your pants on and stop rolling woohoo thought bubbles...
EDIT:

ugh, i'm thinking of having my sims move again, i LOVE this current house, but i'm a big fan of huge open spaces and well, lets just say, this isn't.........might go and buy a big lot in this neighbourhood (called legacy dream lot, so how appropriate) and start building there.............

Klev, you can add subways to your neighborhood. You find them in the Community objects section in build mode. You can plop them onto any community lot where you can fit one, or you can use the edit world tool to add in small lots just for your subway.

I love how it never changes, unlike Wolverine's. =P
Not that I minded the changes they did make. The dynamic between Xavier and Mystique was great.
The only thing that was weird about it was at times it felt like it was trying to be a prequel to the other three, but then they'd do something like show you a child version of Scott, who couldn't possibly be a child at that time, and then be 20's-30's whatever in modern times. I wouldn't mind if the movie was its own thing and not at all a prequel to the others, but you can't have it both ways, you know?

Sounds like your basic continuity error. They didn't do the math properly in that level of detail. A lot of big franchises (Star Wars, Star Trek, most of the comics, etc) even have someone on staff whose job it is to know the series in enough detail to be able to go "Hey that doesn't make sense, this guy wasn't born yet!" I guess the Xmen films don't have one.
calisims
26th Dec 2011, 4:51 PM
Comics are full of continuity errors. They almost have to be, considering they'll have the same characters around for decades, never aging, while adding new characters to the mix.
I was most surprised by Angel's gender change. But it makes sense, most superhero teams are sausage fests with a token chick, early Xmen included, so I can see why they wanted to have a little more diversity here. Also, Emma Frost and the diamond thing. As you might guess from her name, she originally was an ice type. So when she first transformed, I thought, 'wow, that's an interesting way to do an ice effect. It looks like diamonds.' It took me awhile to catch on.
Anyway, I have an update:

I went looking around for worlds that had been updated with the Pets spawners and rabbithole, and I found a really awesome one. Don't know if you've heard of it, but it's supposed to be this industrial-era town with old mansions and such. The backstory and details all of the lots have is brilliant. It works better for my storyline than Aspen Islands so I think I'm going to use it instead. http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/249858.page
Especially since I get to be lazy and not place all those godforsaken spawners. There are twenty-four pets spawners, did you know that? Twenty-four. And that's not counting dog digspots. I'm never playing a pre-pets hood ever again.

I managed to get a cold, so the quiet stay at home xmas we had planned turned out to be doubly good - it was exhausting enough! And the cricket was a lot of fun too, and attended the Boxing Day match was very Australian xD
Now I am going to watch the Doctor Who xmas special and eat leftoever turkey for lunch. Then I have to decide what game to play - I got two for xmas (Sims Medieval and Bastion), still have barely scraped the surface of Skyrim, and have normal Sims.

27th Dec 2011, 2:00 AM
So I was working on my plot for gen 5 and 6 and realized I rolled two careers in a row.
Gen 5, Secondary career: Law Enforcement (Super Spy)
Gen 6, Primary Career: Law Enforcement (Super Spy)
I know the rule states:
"Repetitive careers: You are allowed to reroll a career or a profession if you have rolled it for consecutive generations. For example you are allowed to reroll if you have a chef in generations 1 and 2, but not with generations 1 and 3. You are also allowed to re-roll for either primary or secondary income, if both primary and secondary income turn up as the exact same career in the same generation."
So would a re-roll be acceptable, or does it need to be primary = primary, secondary = secondary?
(... My brain is not working today)
Zokugai
27th Dec 2011, 2:19 AM
Now I am going to watch the Doctor Who xmas special...still have barely scraped the surface of Skyrim
You have excellent taste.
Also, bit of advice, it is VERY VERY VERY important that you do the patch(es?) on Medieval. Straight out of the box, it has a game-ending glitch when you hit level 7 security that completely mucks up your graphics card, forces a computer crash (and we're talking Blue Screen of Death level here), and corrupts the savegame to the point that it can't be opened. And they finally fixed it (as far as I've seen)....so really, make sure to patch the game. O_O
NutsAndDolts
27th Dec 2011, 2:21 AM
Yes you can re-roll if you want. It doesn't matter if it's primary or secondary; you'd still be saddled with the same career twice in a row.
Or you can use it for lulz in your story.
ReyaD
27th Dec 2011, 2:32 AM
I'm already using it for the lulz because Raindrop's final career is going to be law Enforcement. And Law Enforcement is my most HATED career. So three times in a row is REALLY pushing it for me...
Okay after TWO re-rolls (... Both which got me Law Enforcement again. wtf) I rolled artist. I'm cool with that. I can breathe again. Thanks Becky.

Hey, I totally love installing a neighborhood (not the one I linked above) and finding out that 1) it's populated and 2) that population is PACKED with crappily made CC that's completely miscategorized by age, and as nude clothing, and attached to the wrong mesh, and UGLY AS SIN, and so on and so forth, and then having to spend my evening uninstalling every piece of CC individually because it won't take when I do it in bulk. Update!
4.13 - Is the Truth Worth it? http://sabolegacy.blogspot.com/2011/12/413-is-truth-worth-it.html
Dialogue, dialogue, and Sky being bad. What more do you need?

Heehee, I like Sky so much more now. I don't want to smack her upside the head lately.
The roof thing confuses the hell out of me. I've seen the other errors before, but not that one. I think they must have cloned their custom roofs from existing one and accidentally somehow made them default replacements.

(I love the way Derrick looks at his uncle!)

Welcome to the challenge, bde! Your first roll looks like fun. I hope you keep us posted about how things go with your legacy. And of course if you decide to keep a blog of your legacy, post a link for us!

Welcome bde!
you have a good roll there. I always seem to get single parent for my first generation (i've had unfortunate premature endings due to glitches and broken laptops)
Good luck!

I think my track record on legacies has been pretty good so far. Out of 3, only one was abandoned due to the "Grim never freakin' shows up" glitch.
Klevkin: LOVED this pictures! xD Derrick's face just killed me. ".. I'm going to tell mom, y'know."
Welcome, bde. Good luck on your first roll!

I love the title of your post bde! "Best Challenge Ever" ...lol. Welcome to the challenge! :)
I was gonna have an update today, but my coworker had to go to the ER at 3 o'clock in the morning because her boyfriend broke his ankle. So, instead I'm working all day today. 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. *sigh*

ROFL!! that ones great!! :D hilarious!!
okay.......i have another question (yes, loads of questions from me......) my husband decided to but in and noticed the family name I gave my family........and he pronounced it completely diff then the way I intended it......so I was wondering, how do you people pronounce "Crist"
Buckley
27th Dec 2011, 8:10 PM
I pronounce it with a short "i". Like "wrist" but with a "c" in front.
EDIT: Is it supposed to be pronounced like "christ"? Like Jesus Christ?
Klevkin
27th Dec 2011, 8:15 PM
lol no its not! but my husband did, and i surely did not wanted that!! I intended it indeed with the short "i" :D and I never realised it could be pronounced like christ until my husband did it!

I pronounce it Crihst. With a short i. I can see how he saw the other pronounciation though. I don't think anybody would mistake the two though. It's not like you've been doing anything religious in you story anyway.

Man, I misread that as your coworker had to go to the ER because her boyfriend broke your coworker's ankle. I wanted to know what the heck they had been doing.

Love it Cece!
Question - I suddenly got this naked outfit in my game, where I put the "shirt" or "pants" on and there's no clothing. I don't remembering installing this, do you have any ideas on where I got it (so I can remove it)
I would pronounce it Cur-ist, not Christ :)

Yeah, it's just weird because I don't have much CC clothing. Hairs, patterns, and makeup mostly :)
