And, I've kind of gone over the tipping point in terms of putting yet more effort into salvaging this legacy. I was not very excited by Kaiden's generation roll, and I'm even less excited by the roll for the next generation.
While I am a little sad by having to end early, I'm not all that attached to the arbitrary 10 generation legacy. This one made to a 6 generation legacy, and I'm fine with that. I'd rather pull the plug now than keep trying to resuscitate it.
*hugs* like you said earlier, at least they ended on a good note and a point that fitted as an ending even if it wasn't meant to

We'll all be looking forward to seeing what you do with Riverview now...

I've just added the last two families from people's legacies into my new town so next time I get time to play I'll be able to actually play!

I've now added Ryanne, Bryce & Seiran (sp?) Roman as a family of YA's and also Harper & Cedric Harris with their children (3 kids & 1 toddler) and Adamaris

I'm also feeling very achy after getting a new gym programme & being run through it yesterday!

Couple
3 kids
Stylist
Criminal (Evil)
Hobby or obsession
Fashion Diva

This is my generation two roll by the way everybody. I think the stylist and fashion diva go really well together, the hobby shouldn't be too hard as a stylist needs to be a decent artist.

Oohh... I really can't wait to see what havoc all of our sims cause in your town Ali!

So, I'm currently in the process of merging the Dennis/Harris legacy blogs (because it confuses Sam, for some reason); but I'm not entirely sure I'm going through with it as of yet. Just a forewarning.

I still need to get those Ced!Preg pictures up...

No problem. =] You're a very talented writer. I stayed up until 1am reading it even though I had to get up at 6:30am to get ready and take my daughter to school. Lol.

As for my legacy, I've had a busy weekend and a horrible Monday. So I doubt I'll do anything tonight. I'm just too tired. Tomorrow I won't get anything done because a new book of my favorite series, Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole, is coming out tomorrow so I'll be reading the entire day. If you guys like Paranormal Romance books I suggest that series. It's wonderful! It has a little bit of everything, Valkyrie, Fey, Vampires, Lykae,(Werewolf type beings) Witches, Demons, ect. Something for everyone. But anyways back on topic, I'm still struggling a bit with my deadbeat parents storyline and where I want to go with it I'll have to download a ton of stuff and build a community lot and everything. So I've been putting it off. But thanks to those who read/follow/comment on my story. I greatly appreciate it and you have no idea how great it makes me feel and it encourages me to continue. =] I'm in the process of reading everyone's legacies here and slowly but surely I'll get caught up with everyone.

You know, is it Fay or Fey? I've seen both spellings, just like I've seen fairy and faerie.
I'm pretty much ignoring my deadbeat parents. Do you think that having gazillions of pets and children are enough to excuse the parents from not teaching them every little thing? And I just won't bring up the school thing, I plan on keeping the grades around B's and C's. Since it's just A's that affect it, right?

NutsAndDolts
10th Jan 2012, 3:17 AM
It's both. It can also be fae.

Just like elven, elfin, elvish and elfish are all correct spellings of generally the same word.

In different fantasy continuities/settings/universes, the definition of what the fey folk are will change, though. As may how they prefer the word to be spelled.

jessica x gore
10th Jan 2012, 4:05 AM
I agree. I spell it Fey because that's how it is in the book series but I've seen it as Fay and Fae as well.

Emma, I wish I could ignore it as well. Having a gazillion pets and kids seems like a plausible reason to me. But my second generation is only supposed to have 2 kids and I've left the pets completely out of the story even though they own a dog and a horse. PLUS my heir is a stay at home artist and her husband has no job. Lol. So it's not like they don't have the free time. I'll figure it out though....hopefully.

Oh my! I'd pull my hair out if I had that many. I usually never play big families because I feel like I'm all over the place. So you don't really have deadbeat parents, you have parents that are so exhausted they can barely function anymore. Lol.

CinderEmma
10th Jan 2012, 4:53 AM
lol, yeah :) I think that makes me feel better, they love their babies, they just can't handle the mayham as much as they thought when they said to themselves "Oh, what a cute foal" or "I love this baby so much, let's have another!". I looooove big families, I never get bored :) At long as they're not dying (aka they're in baby/toddler/foal mode and can't feed themselves), I'm happy. And even the foals can get nursed and children can feed toddlers and foals :) And teens are just awesome, though I didn't get one in time to help this time.

http://tamlynsims.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/chapter-1-1-the-more-things-change/

Basically, nothing happens and it's short on pictures even by short-on-picture standards. But I was struggling and in danger of failing before I'd even really began, so I cut it off where it was naturally flowing to a stop.

I should do better with the next chapter. I think just having got past the only one chapter hump will help. I hope.

Well ON the topic of building houses... my current home is getting way too tiny for the Sabos, and I was thinking of moving immediately.

I've built three different home but I think this one is my current fav and I was wondering if you guys could gimme your opinions.

Things I still need to work on:
- Landscaping

Well, you already said landscaping,,,particularly I'd suggest getting a little fancy with the landscape paints so it's not all one flat shade of grass. It's a lot easier if you use the largest round brush on lowest opacity. You could mask the meeting between wall and ground with a line of plants, too.

If you're looking for ideas from Google, I think you'd generally call that house "Georgan". For example:
http://floorplans.houseplansandmore.com/053D/053D-0017/053D-0017-front-main-6.jpg
http://floorplans.houseplansandmore.com/055S/055S-0034/055S-0034-front-main-6.jpg
http://floorplans.houseplansandmore.com/055S/055S-0030/055S-0030-front-main-6.jpg
(yes those are different links, I don't know why the site would give them such near-identical names)

My new house is hideous. D: Not the outside, the outside is PERFECT. But I wanted to spend some time having to remodel it as the sims found time/money, so the inside is more "okay who slaughtered a peacock in here?"

Buckley
12th Jan 2012, 6:20 PM
I think it looks nice Cece, although I do have a few recommendations.

-Your house looks a bit... boxy. Just a little. It might be cool to add a few more architectural features and change up the roofline a bit.

-On the outside, I might go with a different style of window, especially underneath the balconies. You might try to use a 3 block window (you know, 3 of those little squares), to match the 3 block balcony above it. Right now, it looks a little asymmetrical.

-The living room looks massive. I would have a hard time furnishing such a huge space.

-Have you play tested it? The dining area off the kitchen looks a bit cramped, and I'd worry about being able to access all the chairs.

-In the downstairs bathroom, the window looks a bit odd right there. Are you still going to be able to place a mirror above the sink? That's just a little pet peeve of mine, not a big deal.

-The upstairs looks awesome, and I really like the layout. My only suggestion would be to add a half wall or another type of railing by the staircase instead of a full wall.

Great job so far! I hope you keep us updated on the status of your project! :)

Zokugai
12th Jan 2012, 7:40 PM
I like the general shape of the house, including the blockiness. It's a very classic look, and very 2.5 kids, white picket fence, which always amuses me compared to how utterly insane legacies always seem to get.

With as blocky and square as the house is shaped (not necessarily a bad thing), the balconies outside on the front of the house might look nicer with something more substantial like a stone fence or halfwall "railing" as opposed to something real delicate and elaborate like wrought iron.

To fit into (omg I forgot what you preferred to be called Buckley)'s idea about the dining area, here's a possible solution to that. Actually, two possible solutions. Gives you a little more room to get to the seating, plus separates the two entrances a bit more to make it less of a dining area and more of a dining "room".

Maybe try a different colour for the roof or walls, they look a bit too close the the same colour & it might look better with more contrast between the two?

I take photos and fit the story to it afterward, haha. Sometimes I have a vague idea of what I want to happen in my story and therefore I'll take pictures to reflect it, but I never write it all out and then go after pictures of it. Just doesn't work well for me.

It varies, most of the time I just play, take photos as I go along and then write the story in accordance with that. Occasionally, if I have a particular plot in mind for something (e.g. why I've had to move the family or why my sim has "chosen" whatever goals I've rolled for them that generation) I'll pose and take photos to fit that plot point

Ahaha. Okay thanks! I guess I'm doing it right then. I'm finding it a bit hard to fill in parts where no major events are happening. ie marriage, children, ect.

Also I had another idea for a legacy but it would take place in another author's world. It would only be my characters but I would follow her world rules. (Does that make sense?) The books I was talking about a few days ago has this almost separate world from ours. With different beings, fey, valkyrie, vampires ect. And my story would be of those beings. Example: In her world (Which is called The Lore) vampires: burn in the sun, trace, (teleport) natural born vampires cannot lie, if they drink from flesh and kill that person their eyes turn red and they will dream their victims memories, ect. So the vampires in my story would also be this way. I may not do it because it could get complicated since they are all supposed to be immortal. Plus I'd have to downloads all kinds of crap. But do you think it will be tacky to do this? Tacky might not be the word I'm looking for but...anyways it's just something I thought would be fun to do. I love the world Kresley Cole has created and would love to write about with my own characters. Since I'm only on the 2nd generation of my current legacy, I still have a long time until I'd be able to do anyways. Just wanted everyone's opinion. =]

Jessica, I don't think it would be tacky at all. Actually, it sounds like a super fun idea to me. It's kind of like writing fan fiction I guess. :)

Jessica: That sounds cool. I've wanted to do things similar to that before, it's just mine are usually terribly complicated and can't actually be even made out to happen in Sims, i don't think anyway

Agreed with Buckley, just make sure to explain everything clearly, since the one problem I have with reading fanfiction (or fanfic like things like this would be) is that they just assume that everybody knows what's going on. Just make it clear what these vampires, fey, etc are like :)
And you COULD ignore some of it, like the immortal part, to make it more practical.

Agreed Jessica, it sounds amazing. Also Cece, I will give you my ideas on things when your in create...
But Armi has the BEST building tutorials ever... she truely is the most amazing builder I know, and if it was not for her, I wouldn't be the simmer I am today!
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=85568BC59582D916 here is the landscaping ones to start you off. Also the flowers on the path, i think you should use fences to make flower boxes. You have had a great start.

But about the boxiness, I do agree - when we build houses its best not to have the initial shape of the house square, but its for your eyes only (and ours) we don't really see birds eye views of the house very often, so it is no biggy!

Thanks everyone! I do think it could get REALLY complicated and I planned on putting a copy of this: http://kresleycole.com/books/immortals-after-dark-lore.html (with credit to her of course) on a page in my blog. But if any of you read it you'll see that some of this would be difficult if not impossible to do in the Sims. So I may have to leave out some creatures. I think the ones I'd get to keep would be, Valkyrie, Vampires, Demons (I'm sure somewhere there are CC horns) Lykae,(not sure how I'd make "the beast" come out though.) Witches, Sorceri, Furiae, Sirenae, Fey and Phantoms, The rest would be hard. But that should be plenty of creatures to have in a world. The only thing is, by my 10th generation that kid is going to be all kinds of things. Ahaha. Even in most of the books though it's always either a Valkyrie, Vampire, Demon, Lykae or Witch. The other species have just been randomly thrown in but the main characters in 12 books were almost ALWAYS one of those. I guess I have plenty of time to think about how everything would work out. =]

HAH. Not only do I have an update two days in a row, but I have a two-part chapter. I am on a roll!

New lot, new town, new characters.
Chapter 8, part 1: Retirement Party (http://snickersonlegacy.blogspot.com/2012/01/gen-1-chapter-8-part-1-retirement-party.html)
Chapter 8, part 2: Strange New Colors (http://snickersonlegacy.blogspot.com/2012/01/gen-1-chapter-8-part-2-strange-new.html)

I'm also pretty sure that, counting my two-part chapters separately, I've hit the ten chapter level for the legacy list, too. Today is a good day.

Am I the only one here who is incapable of building a house? xD It just doesn't compute well with me. It's sort of like the Architect career. I just suck at it.
Nope, not at all. I can't build a house to save my life. If it wasn't for the auto-roofing tool, all my houses would just be rectangles with a flattop. xD

Lykae,(not sure how I'd make "the beast" come out though.)

I was debating with further down the line in my legacy to add a Cat-girl or a Werecat so I found some furry skins, cat ears, tails, and whiskers. I could post the links if your interested. ^^ furry skins would be good for more than just werecats too. :D

I hate building houses on the sims and I did residential drafting (the person who draws floor plans/1 level below ARCHITECT)... I think because there's no real world connection to it... No brief to follow... I need to make believe on that one next time me thinks.

I'm not familiar with those books so I don't know if they have some sort of special naming system but http://www.behindthename.com/ has some surprisingly decent fantasy name lists for what's normally a very academic, linguistics website. Additionally has "themed" lists such as flowers.

So I fixed a couple of things, completely redid the kitchen/dining area as per Zokugai's suggestions.

Outside view: http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/Rey4rey4/Screenshot-5423.jpg Honestly I actually like the "boxy" look of the house so I think I'll be keeping it that way.

I loved Kayla's flower planter idea and I think its makes the entrance of the house look a lot neater.
http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/Rey4rey4/Screenshot-5407.jpg

I fixed up the terrain paint and it doesn't look half bad now! Took Zoku's suggestion on the large brush and managed to make it look... yeah. I'm not changing it anymore. It's fine the way it is : P Also fixed the garage a bit because the fence didn't extend all the way down and made it look awkward.
http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/Rey4rey4/Screenshot-5409.jpg

I think these windows work better for the front of the house but I'd like to keep the rest of the windows as they are Buckley. I just like the "old fashioned" feel they give the house.
http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/Rey4rey4/Screenshot-5411.jpg

... I totally forgot half walls even existed.

Upstairs stairwell: http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/Rey4rey4/Screenshot-5414.jpg

Oh hey, the kitchen works now! No issues getting to any part of the room(s)!

EDIT: Although if no one else has any suggestions... I think I'll be moving my family in on my next play session. I'm really happy with how it looks now with all your suggestions and I got to a point in the story where the move would make sense instead of it being more or less odd.

Love what you did, I think one of the children might be doing a landscape project soooooon :P I'm trying to think of ways for the non-rebellious children to suck at school, which is 3 1/2 of them. Let's just say one is accidentally rebellious :P

So I didn't double post, I wanted to make a little section about my pets. So yeah, I've had 12 in total in this generation (has to be a record!), and only four are out of the household (two because of lack of cheats actually, I had to give some of my kitties AWAY *cries*). No deaths yet though!
Yeah, don't look at the spoilers if you don't want to know ALL my pets' names up to this point, especially all the horses. I removed the ranting, as I'm sure I remember all the names now. I'm KEEPING it here though so I have a reference to it. I don't really trust my brain anymore :faceslap:
Candice, Spleck, Comet, Scarlett, Rollie, and Peppy
And there's a lot of cats too, though I can remember the names easier then the horses.
Hermione, Rowan, Conner, Bella, Buttons, and Roxy

Love the terrainpaint flowers. It's a great way to add a bit of color in without HERE HAVE A GIANT BLUE BUSH. You can recolor stairs and railings (unless I can only do that because of awesomemod?) so you could make those white or whatever so they blend in. Glad to see you were able to get the halfwalls to blend properly with the full walls, I've had some trouble with the shadows and lighting on them lately.

Looks good! Definitely a house you can keep for generations.

So today I went from having a buffer of maybe half a chapter to having a buffer of like six chapters. Altin needs to stop doing so much stuff. It's going to take me ten years to get through one generation.

Thank you so much. Surprisingly none of the creatures I'm thinking of using have wings besides a breed of demon. Lol. The Valkyrie just have pointed ears, their eyes go silver with strong emotion and they give off lightning with strong emotion too. But the names are very helpful! These are some of the character names from her books: Kaderin the Coldhearted (Valkyrie), Lothaire The Enemy of Old, (Vampire) Mariketa the Awaited, (Witch) Melanthe, Queen of Persuasion (Sorceress) Myst the Coveted (Valkyrie) Carrow Graie (Witch) Rydstrom Woede (Rage Demon) Nix the Ever-Knowing (Valkyrie) ect. (Complete list: http://wickedscribeskresleycole.wordpress.com/immortals-after-dark-series/immortals-after-dark-character-profiles/) Half the time I don't even know if I'm pronouncing them correctly. But not all of them have stuff like -the Coveted, -Ever-Knowing, behind their names. Since these names are so different I'm hoping that name generator will help me. I can't have a powerful rage demon named John. Lol. It's just not the same.

Also Lust, the Lykae don't even really shift into wolves. Their face changes a bit but mostly it's like they go rabid. It's kind of hard to explain. Lol. Thank you though. =]

But I think I'm going to have more trouble with this than I realized. Almost all of these beings have eternity long mates. Ex: Soon after a vampire reaches his immortality stage his heart stops beating and he stops breathing, making him the walking dead. When he meets his Bride (that's what the author calls it.) she brings him back to life with a process called Blooding. If she ever dies, he will soon choose to "meet the sun" because he can't live without her. So how in the world am I going to do single parents and second chances. Lol. I REALLY would hate to get rid of this part because I liked the fact that they choose eternal mates. =/ I don't know. It's a huge project but like I said I have plenty of time to think about it. If anyone would like to suggest or help out please PM me. I also apologize if all of this is confusing. I'm sure half of you are like, "Umm what is this girl talking about it?" Haha. But thanks again everyone. You have all being truly helpful.

On the topic of building: I'm a horrible builder too. A square here, square there, auto roof and done! That's pretty much my build process. My landscaping is just as bad, throw in some bushes and I call it a day. Half the time I can't get things to work like I want. Maybe it's because I don't know any build cheats. But I love to decorate the houses, I'm really good at that. My houses are always epic fails though. =/

Sorry for the long post, apparently I'm chatty this morning.

EDIT: Zokugai, that website with the names is great and those horns on the other site would be perfect. Thank you again.

It's a pity there's no way to give someone the glowing eyes overlay vampires have without making them vampires.

As for whether Battlefield: Earth was really that bad, let me put it this way. The guy who wrote the book the movie was made from later went on to found a religion that believes in the divinity of that author. Also space alien spirits. So...yeah. From what I remember of the movie, it was pretty much a slow-motion trainwreck.

So, my birthday is one week from today (turning the big 2-3). I'm hoping that I'll have time to get those updates in that I was trying to do this week, but I have some family coming in to "celebrate" (i.e. eat and drink a lot). It'll happen eventually. I don't know, I was wondering where Klev had gone the other day.

Keep in mind that for most people in the US the school semester started up a week or so again, so a lot of people are back in classes.

Speaking of, I'm going to exercise my godgiven right to be lazy and play skyrim tonight, but I'll toss up a chapter either very late or tomorrow. It's nice to be able to actually PLAY the household again instead of just trying to get enough pictures to write a chapter and get them moved.

Also, (plot spoiler)
Kirk completely screwed up my plans for the next few chapters. I think she's getting her revenge on me for taking three whole days with her locked in a burning room trying to kill her. Never try to off a Brave-traited sim with fire. It does not end well. I set an entire room on fire, and cancelled all her extinguish queues the second they came up...AND SHE STILL BEAT ME. REPEATEDLY. I swear I must have killed off Superwoman or something.

what timezone are you in ana?? cause normally i'm at that end as well........a bit pro though, i get enough time to read up, cause everybody is asleep, so no new stuff coming hehe..

it's 14.37 here atm :)

righto, i scanned the last few pages, so I am sorry if i missed stuff, as for everybody's legacies, i think i'll notice i missed some chapters when a next update get posted :).

atm, i'm trying to get the twins and derrick aged up for the I think 10th time.........it's horrible, I don't get it, I have lag, but thats nothing really new, normally I just ignore it, but now, every once in a while, my game just crashes to desktop! And I get the stinking feeling theres some cc causing it! It always happens when I go loose on all the cc in my game :( so I am actually postponing the having to take it out again.....as i'm not up for another move to see if that solves things.

EDIT: OMG!!! I just noticed Boy has 1 day left till becoming an elder *sobs*

I don't know how to solve you're problem with the birthdays, but i hate cc problems.

Auburn just turned Elder and I'm trying to make her look not-so-old. It's horrible, she's not Auburn anymore.
I couldn't let her have her hair as grey as it was originally so i changed it slightly so it still holds a little faded colour.

I absolutely hate the elder looks tbh......only seen a few handsome elders so far! (ethan von hagen being one of them :P) You just can't get them to look proper :( I wish I could say something consoling, but I have to agree with you, she's not auburn anymore :(

I think we might be neighbors then Ana :) right across the canal :)

as for my aging, 10th times a charm i guess........got it passed now and saved, no crashing so far *crosses finger, taps her desk etc* Boy has also aged :( I guess, next chapter is going to have loads of birthdays again! Haha. Klev: I never went to my prom either. Me and my date got our dress/suit for the shin-dig, but decided we didn't want to fork over the extra money for tickets. Instead, we dressed up and saw a movie. I distinctly remember the movie being terrible too. *shrug* Still better than attending my prom, I suppose. ; )

I was working on my next chapter, but decided that downloading Skyrim was WAY more important. So now I'm waiting impatiently for it to finish while watching Once Upon A Time (I'm a fairy tale nerd; leave me alone) & then the Christmas episode of Doctor Who. Time well spent, I say.

Yep; Skyrim is the newest addition to the Elder Scrolls series. It is definitely worth checking out! And I'm glad the Christmas series was good; I'm amping up and making popcorn to watch it (it's 7 am where I'm at; so this is my breakfast apparently). SO.EXCITED.

I think my husband will kill me if i get skyrim.......i got oblivion, but hardly played it tbh......couldn't really get the hang of it....I loved morrowind so much, couldn't get used to oblivion, haven't played both for years though! Enlighten me, would I be able to play oblivion with my 2 year old daughter (with the brains of a 4 year old mind you, so she understands way to much......) running around and asking me what i'm doing and telling me to let my dolls a.k.a. sims (I told her mummy is playing a digital dollhouse) do stuff, like painting sleeping etc........she can fill a whole sim day for one of them......

Auburn is just a tipical women :D can't make up her mind :) I feel for you on the redecorating bit though!

lol, you might be able to. If you don't mind her watching you kill things. I have oblivion and i love it, although i go off it sometimes to play assassin's creed then i don't play it again for months.

I have to go into Stylist all over again, the paintings weren't so much of a problem. I knew where i would put them this time.

Well good luck with that, it can go the other way though...i had a sim's relationship ruined once.

When I played both Morrowind and Oblivion, I barely scratched the surface of the actual story. I got distracted easily and decided to just wander around aimlessly doing whatever came my way (and got arrested a lot!); so I've never actually finished the games either. It's my goal to finish the intended story line for Skyrim... just because. Although, I'll probably get distracted all over again and never realize that I'm not actually progressing in the story at all. Ha.

Cedric and Harper are going to be elders in about 6 sim days in my game and I'm dreading it; particularly Cedric. He's been my comic relief (practically breaking everything in the house despite being handy; I don't get it).

Klev: I hope your prom works out. There has been some crazy (incestuous) glitches that have happened to my sims in the past. D:

thats what happened to me as well giga! I got distracted so easily in both of those games! There is just way to much to do, and I always want to do every single thing possible! As for my daughter watching me kill things :( i'm afraid that along with DA it's another game thats on my "play again when my daughter goes to school" list.........which is in about 1,5 years, but then again, my son will be just 2, so then the problems shifts....I guess i won't be able to play for another 3 years :(

i've read something about those prom glitches........so I sincerely hope that won't happen to me!

Apparently you can't finish Skyrim. The sub plot quests never end, they randomly spawn new ones throughout your game so the game can never be finished.

I second (third? fourth?) the fact that the red-tinted grey is nicer. More realistic, too.

oh and thats annoying! that you can never finish skyrim! Or perhaps not.......
That depends on your definition of finish. You could finish the storylines (all 800 billion of them), and you could hit max level (81 iirc). The stuff that goes on forever is the random plotless "Hey Dragonborn! There's a dragon in Riverwood! Go kill it!" and "Hey Dragonborn! There's a bandit camp in Silver Moons, go kill the leader!" But the storyline wraps up eventually.

I hope. o_o I've already resigned myself to the knowledge that I'll still be working through my first playthrough of the game on New Years....of next year.

Also, every time I hear someone mention Skyrim I die a little inside. The knowledge that my computer probably couldn't handle it is just too much. >w<
Are you sure? My computer can BARELY handle Sims 3 Pets and goes "ARE YOU UTTERLY INSANE?!" at Assassin's Creed: Revelations, but as long as I have Skyrim on a fairly reasonable low setting it hasn't even bothered my computer in the slightest. No lags, nothing, and I've added in a few graphical mods too without problem. And of course, it on its lowest graphics quality has better visuals than most games on their best.

As for the Skyrim debate, I've actually heard that despite having superior graphics than the Sims 3, it's a lot easier for most computers to handle.

I've been having some trouble with my Gen 6 teen plotline lately so I dunno if I want to take a break from my legacy or suck it up and keep going. I just notice that my chapters haven't been as "good" as they normally are and it's showing in the comments.

LOL i only sleep for either 4, 8 or 12 hours at a time...I dunno why, but if i don't sleep in four hour cycles I get cranky. So during the week I don't miss much as i sleep for 4 hours...mainly due to having to get up for school. But then school doesn't let me come on it. Ugh. I started expanding on the house, and I have this issue with this gate.

http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/3/8/3/3/4/9/0/MTS_NutsAndDolts-1265004-blah.jpg

I made it as pale as possible, but it still appears dark, as if everything between this two half walls is in total darkness. I originally smashed out one of the half walls to make a pathway, and the edges appeared PITCH BLACK, which annoyed me. So I threw in a gate, and it too turned as black as possible, even when I threw in a dozen extra lights and turned the brightness up on the entire house.

So I'm calling out to you advanced builders: is there anything I can do? I'd like the gate to match the pale color of the wall. x.x

...Maybe a gate inside the house is stupid anyway. v.v

That's quite odd Becky. I have no idea. (But considering I'm not really much of a builder, let alone an "advanced builder", that should not come as much of a surprise. ;))

This is random, but I really, really like that lamp you have next to your gate. The one with the green shade. Where'd you get that, if you don't mind my asking?

Becky, I've seen that problem with garage doors. I've never placed a gate on half walls, but maybe it's a similar issue. You could try putting those lights for fence posts on the two posts on either side of the gate.
You could also try the lighting elements from buy debug that go invisible in live mode.

Lol. I have a Kindle which is just as bad. It's set up where you have a one click buy button. It's way too easy. I live in a very small town so the only place that sell books is Wal-Mart. Which has a HORRIBLE selection...basically nothing. So I had no choice but to get an e-reader or drive 40 min. every few days to a decent bookstore. Sometimes I do miss the feel and smell of the pages but I'd miss my Kindle even more considering I can take 300 books with me everywhere I go. =]

The only reason I don't have an e-reader is a) I would spend all my money on books, literally. I'd go without new clothes over new books, b) I LOVE the smell of books so much it should be illegal and c) the fact I have to catch a 30 min train ride kinda curbs my urges...

http://tamlynsims.wordpress.com/2012/01/15/chapter-1-2-the-more-they-stay-the-same/

Too many words? Too few? Too few pictures? Not enough happening?*

*Answers optional, fretting will occur anyway.

Edit: For some reason, I just can't comment on blogspot atm. So, Cece: I adore Kenzie. I guess I like Madeline too, but Kenzie stole my heart :P And her interaction with Derrick was very realistic.

(You accidentally wrote Mackenzie instead of Madeline with the cakes - Mackenzie went first and second).

And corihummel: Go Deirdre! Seth was obviously expecting a doormat :)

I'm still slowly catching up on legacies xD

I have a desperate urge to lock Lu and Altin in a room together and see who survives.

Also, very nice touch reading up on what the Marshall storyline is supposed to be and incorporating it. I though I was the only one who read those things these days.

LOL, my brother won't let me get it for pc...xbox only as far as he's concerned.
Belated response, but if you happen to have an xbox and aren't horribly offended by console gaming, that might be smart. No cheatcodes and harder to install (if possible at all) mods, but the game was designed for xbox and ported to pc, rather than the other way around, and it shows. For instance, menus are basically a nightmare to navigate with a mouse.

Dangit Tamlyn, I totally saw the name thing coming too xD. *Trods off to fix it*

So I had this great, beautiful plot line set up for Kenzie's teen years... and she ruins it. Like, won't even let me TRY to go through with it. So I've decided I'm just going to let the story play out according to the wishes she rolls.

... Unfortunately for me she's now writing a better story line than I ever could've planned. (Dammit kid you're an artist, not a writer. Stop showing me up!)

Stuff that isn't about me:

I am deffo not offended by console gaming, it's just the fact that it £15 more expensive on xbox than pc.

lol it's alright i already have the letter E covered. the kid has already been born and is a toddler in game. I think I have F sorted since the pregnancy has told me the gender.
I don't have the mc that can change baby gender though so i'll have to wait for G.

For my little list of names for those letters, open this spoiler:

E: Emerald for a girl, Eden for a boy
F: Fuschia for a girl, Fawn for a boy
G: Ginger for a girl, Gray for a boy

Speaking of chapters.

5.17 - Only a Kiss http://sabolegacy.blogspot.com/2012/01/517-only-kiss.html

Kenzie puts my original plotline to shame through autonomous interactions and rolled wishes. And now I have this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGdGFtwCNBE&ob=av3e) stuck in my head.

You guys can decided for yourselves which is the good boy and which is the bad boy. I haven't actually decided yet since my buffer just ran out and I have NOTHING written.

You know what they block on my college campus? Gaming. Like, gaming through Steam. 8| It's the dumbest thing in the world. I know we're all a little obsessed with Left 4 Dead 2, but Jesus Christ, c'mon!

[EDIT] Just to clarify, I meant social gaming, haha. Like, playing online with your friends. Single player and stuff is fine...but clearly not as fun. OTL

From what I've seen, college campuses can block whatever they please in their computer labs and libraries and coffee shops, etc, but you can look at whatever you want from the connection in your dorm room. I had a crappy laptop at university so the only online game I'd play was Phantasy Star Online (SCHTserv).

It's not the best image, that's just what the modder provided. That character is packed full of CC. The super smooth airbrushed face, the makeup, etc.

For comparison, some vanilla characters: http://gamersheep.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/ImperialCompilation.jpeg

It winds up looking very out of place. Decent in and of itself, but drastically different "art style" from the more dirty gritty thing the game has going on.

I don't like much CC hair either, I really only like Wotjek's conversions (he took them down, which makes me sad, but I still have time in my game), a few of Anubis's stuff, and a few other EA looking ones. I agree on that btw Teal, I had a hairstyle once, that was straight down at the back of my sim, and when she'd bent over her hair would keep in a straight line......and sort of stick out.....I think she might have used to much hairspray for that one.... :faceslap:

The Sims Random Legacy has basically ruined me. xD I'm reading Mark Twain's "Roughing It" for a class of mine on the Gutenberg Project and they've included genuine woodcut pictures that were in the original text, each captioned.

After reading all of these blogs, they feel like they should be in a Random Legacy instead. Like, a hilarious picture of a Sim doing something random with a strange facial expression with a quick, witty caption beneath it that makes you die from laughing hysterically.

Oh I'd be more than happy to include a Derrick/Brandon scene on upcoming chapters (As an excuse to use the threesome poses I found a while back) but there's one problem.

Derrick and Brandon are first cousins. Derrick's mother is Danya Xun. Brandon's father is Lee Xun. So... y'know. If you guys think incest is totally fine then I'll start planning something special : P.

Lol. Alma. I know what you mean about legacies affecting your mind. I've been doing the same thing xD.

Incest FTW (at least with these two hotties, lol)
Besides, it doesn't really matter to me in the game, it's just Sims after all.
I should update soon, bah. Sorting through my pictures is a horrific mess :( Let's just say they're not in order

Here's a picture of the CC hair I really like below :) My sim's face isn't that angular, I swear!
As you can see, compared to Buster's (the poor kid) EA hair, it doesn't look too different, just a bit shinier :) It has EA highlighting too, so I'm positive it's Anubis's :) Maybe it's an older one, I thought it was newer but I've searched 6 pages so far :( I can't find the the link, I'll edit it in when I find it :)

I mean... look at almost every single one of my sims this legacy!

AlmaDelCore20

I'm generally really picky about my CC hairs...the ones that clip or that lay awkwardly or something like that I tend to get as far away from as I possibly can. But I've come across many that I absolutely adore. I tend to use them before I use any EA ones for some reason.

It makes me sad that there's not more interesting ones for guys out there, especially MANLY guy CC hair instead of girly ones, since I have such an aversion to hats for some reason for my Sims.

Welcome Fluffy!

And because I was asleep and want to put my 2 cents in; I like the look of SO many CC hairs, but what stops me downloading is the long ones sit so far off the body, it puts me off and I don't like it. BUT I'm more than happy to download the short ones. But generally I don't find the ones some of you have that I really like (like the short pigtail/double braid/plaits...)

CinderEmma
18th Jan 2012, 12:38 AM
I agree with you Teal :) There are a lot of braided ones here -> anubis360.blogspot.com/ My favourite Sims 3 CC hair site! While I love MTS for everything else, the lack of hairs here is sad. There's quality ones here (like the one in the picture above), but still not as many as I would like.

And Cece, can you send me the link too? I don't know if I'll download if it's super CC like (shiny, has holes, bad hairlines, etc), but I would like to look and see. My guys are lacking too :(

PM me the link too Cece!!!!

Almost been a month since my last update :/ I'm still deciding where I want to go with my next gen because I don't feel like doing my original plot anymore. And I was way too busy all of winter break which just ended last week. I don't know if/when I will be updating the Speries again, but I'm going to at least try unless I end up getting bored with it. I've been sucked into the building world whenever I play because that's all I used to do before starting the random legacy shindig. I'm too OCD about my houses looking perfect... I've spent at least a week on the one I'm doing now and I only have the first floor plan and 1 room done to perfection, another one almost done getting the colors/details right, and another room furnished but no coloring or detailing yet. It needs to be PERFECT. *obsessed*

I totally agree Zoku. <3 It's one of my favourite hairs. Second only to Santiago von Hagen's.

Oh it was great, I went "I need a hairstyle for an edgy rocker chick so I can get back into playing Bridgeport" and it instantly came up under randomization. Perfection.

So I was going to update tomorrow, but I think in recognition of raising awareness for SOPA and PIPA and what not I'm going to avoid posting anywhere online for all of tomorrow, similarly to Wikipedia's blackout since I can't exactly do the same. xD I trust ya'll can wait until Friday.

Oh so then I guess I shouldn't post anything tonight? : P

Gosh I'm not part of my generation at all... boycotts and protests just annoy me. I won't be participating.

EDIT: Update!

5.19 - Friends, or.. http://sabolegacy.blogspot.com/2012/01/519-friends-or.html

See I dunno if they're adorable together or something else. (But MAN do they make for great photos)
