I was expecting to get a lot of play time in today... but both my Sabo legacy and my NIF legacy keep hanging on me eternally. Pardon me. I need to go hit something.

I have no idea whats going on! And my parents seem to be under the impression that computers last ten years so I doubt I'll be getting a replacement soon...

I was able to play in a totally empty town with 2 sims for four in game days with no problems, so theres that (Bakafox's Avalon), but my save games have been horrid. And there isn't even much IN my NIF legacy save game to cause glitches.

Super late on the whole astrology thing, but I'm a 21 year old Capricorn, although nothing like it. I hate planning and I'm definitely not an introvert, oh well!

I haven't even booted my game in over a week since I'm in Las Vegas. All the glamour (yeah right) has gotten old and I'm sick of the drunks, the clickers, and watching others lose all their money, so I'm going to be a bit more active for the next two days than I have been lately. Probably no update until Sat/Sun though which is when I get home.

I'm sorry for all of you experiencing problems with your games, it seems another bout of glitchiness for us players has begun, which makes me nervous to open my game. :(

I'm not anxious about my 30's...yet. Ask me again in 4 years when it is right around the corner. I can definitely see having a mini-neurotic fit though. Heaven has a lot of growing up to do in those 4 years!!! I suppose I feel like when I hit 30 I should be fairly established career wise and possibly have a kid or two. So far I am 0 for 2. No kids yet, which is fine right now but, even more importantly, no idea what I want to be when I grow up. :lol:

no JK, but now for serious, I hope someone is online, cause I'm trying to google for a solution to my error, but I don't even know the proper words to google on.

This morning I started up my legacy save game to start working on that update I promised, and when it started up the thing with all the buttons and wishes and moods etc was gone! It's just not there. So I closed down without saving, restarted hoping it would be solved...but nothing! So just now I restarted again and loaded another save file...and that one is perfectly fine...
In my legacy game, the sim that was suposed to be the focus of the screen was not there either, nor were the furniture, all I could see was the floors and walls...

So I tried googling it, only to discover that I don't know how you people (you know the english speaking people :P) call that thing with all the buttons and wishes etc...so could someone tell me what it is called so I can google for a bloody solution?? If there is any :cry:

I just used one of the options mentioned in that documentation "forceHUd". And it brought me back to edit town, with a user interface...so when i said return to game it went to the starting screen to select the family...and guess what...there was a strange family living in my house!!! Maddie Ryan and Luke gone!! Nowhere to be found :S

I Think I know where the game screwed up though...I adopted a kitten from the shelter, and instead of having it brought to Luke, it appeared on my interface and it walked straight down to my house from the other side of town. When the kitten was all tired I had Luke pick her up...I thought it was strange, and when I changed her name it had the last name of the family now living in my house...so I think that's where the game messed up, and here I thought it was a minor glitch that caused the cat to have to walk all the way....

Going to see if I can restore the backup save now :(

So, I've been working on an unrelated project. Since playing a legacy has become very difficult for me with all the lag, I've decided to remake my Sims 1 story site into a Sims 3 blog. It's not a legacy, and I can play it almost Sims 1 style, with no story progression to lag up my game.
So, I thought I'd share it with you here:

Gahh I have been away for far to long!! But I'm back! (and hopefully won't go this long without posting again. I have been lurking this whole time though ;) ) I have good news. My last legacy died do to some computer problems then a few died just because I went to long with out playing and lost interest. But now I put Sims on my laptop which means I now have Sims at school which means no more having to wait till weekends to play and write! And with that I present:

I'm starting to wonder if my freezing is a result of my graphics card. Its pretty old (2 years, at least) but hasn't given me any issues before. Yet now no matter what I do it also hangs after a few in game hours. I'm going to pull my legacy family into an empty Starlight Shores and then see if I can at least continue the story to Melody's young adult birthday.

Cece, you aren't alone in the freezing club. I think it's kind of a widespread issue, a lot of people started getting it in Generations, even more people started getting it in Pets... I think you're just part of the Lag Club. =(

One thing I haven't done in awhile is check to see if my drivers need to be updated. I will do that when I get home, perhaps that can help you too?

So all the kids in Gen 2 ended up looking the same... Realised that when my sim got pregnant by an NPC, when the kids were born, it wasn't showing up who their other parent was, so VERY limited gene pool... I fixed that, so the next gen might work out with a few differences

Like I mentioned a while back, I'm using some of your sims to populate my world with. I'm using your Estrella and Abbey Sperie. I haven't read your new legacy yet, so I'm not sure if this story fits them or not. In my game, they are married and expecting their first child. I don't have the settings set to allow same sex pregnancy, but I'm not sure who the donor will be yet, lol. Hope that's okay? Also, Abbey has a slightly altered hair color (it's plain blonde now).

Are you still around these days? I never see you on... :( Anyway, if you read this I have Dasia in my town right now, and I may add Corrigan too. Not sure about him yet, but it's looking likely. She's single (sort of...), and he would be married to someone and have children. Or be somebody's roommate. I haven't decided yet. Both of them have new eye and hair colors, but similar to their old ones.

I love your Sims. They are all so beautiful that it was really hard to decide! I (of course) am using Harris as my evil politician. He's married with one kid (so far ;)). Also, if it's okay, I wanted to have your Wolf as my town's famous actor person. I changed his hair, skin, and eye color a bit though, and both of them got name changes to better suit their character's personality.

I want to use Madeline, but with a different hair color (a slightly more yellow blonde shade). I'm thinking she will be married to someone and have a couple of older kids. I don't have enough children in my world right now!

I only have one Sim of yours! :( I found that rather surprising, cause I love them all so much. Hard, hard choice. I had the lovely Aphrodite on one side and the drop dead gorgeous Morgan on the other. I flipped a coin, and Morgan won. I gave her a bit of a makeover though because I really wanted her to be married to Melissa's Harris. (Beautiful babies? Yes please!) She's something of a rich country club type now. (Total opposite of what she was...) If that's not alright, please tell me. Her facial sculpt is the same, just different hair and clothes.

Wow. Long list! I hate making Sims because I really suck at it. Does anyone else have any Sims they want me to use? No promises, cause my town is filling up fast, but I can try to squeeze them in if you want. I tried to use a Sim from each of you guys that have uploaded, but I'm afraid I was a bit spotty. Colleen, go ahead and use them! They're not in my new legacy really... they live in the town and everything, but I used their kids. Using another donor is fine too, and same with Abbey having blonde hair. I think MC can pollinate using any sim no matter what gender even if your settings don't allow it though... something to check in to if you haven't, but either way is fine.

Hello guys! I'm sorry I've been MIA lately and I have to catch up on everyone's legacy stories. I've been so busy with RL. We found out that my Mom has breast cancer again so she has to have surgery tomorrow to remove the affected tissue. Hopefully it hasn't spread to her lymph nodes because then she would have to have Chemotherapy. But I'm trying to get back into my story, as you can see it's the farthest thing from my mind right now but I'm sure everything with my Mom will turn out well. It did the last time she had to have this surgery. But I have not given up on my story and it WILL continue. I might even find some time today to play and get some photos. I'm hoping, anyway. I've missed you guys so much and I'm glad to be back.

@Kayla, I saw your post. You always make me feel like I'm awesome, so thanks for that! I'm glad you enjoy reading my long chapters. Lol. Hopefully I won't disappear again!

To reduce loading time I've been using 15-25 pictures for each update now, instead of 35-45. I think I prefer the longer chapters better, because the short ones are making generation 7's childhood seem very drawn out. But if anyone cares, let me know what you think.

Oh man, I would love you forever if I could have Altin and Kirk. I mean, I always wanted to see them live happily ever after... Unfortunately, I have yet to catch up with your legacy (or anybody else's for that matter...) so I'm not sure if the white picket fence/riding into the sunset lifestyle suits them. Basically, I think what I want to do is have them live as boyfriend/girlfriend with one kid and let story progression take it from there. Let me know if that works for you, or if you even feel like uploading them at all. If you don't, I'll understand.

While attempting to fix my game (it keeps crashing, I think from a mod I haven't updated), the Riddles were accidently deleted, and I'm not in the habit of backing up saves, or sims, so sadly, the Riddles are gone forever... or until I try to recreate Anne. :P They were experiencing a ton of glitches anyway.

So I've decided to take up the challenge, for the third time. I've never made it past gen 2. For various reasons. But I think the main one is I don't like the towns I've got. Can anybody recommend a good 'city' to play these in? I like the nightclubs and towers, but still miss the lack of green on the outskirts and there is nowhere to acommodate pets into bridgeport, which also SUCKS. Anyhoo, will be editing my blog with my new set of rules.

But yeah, any recomendations for a city to play in?

I really don't know of any cities that would last long enough for this challenge as the empty space of buildings have been known to trap NPCs and make lag worse. I'd really suggest downloading a suburb instead and then adding your own clubs and bars to it. Which is what I do.

Kids: 2
Primary: Medical
Gen. Goal: Perfect Careers
Misc: Half-Siblings

Say I start with Sim A, it has to be single and have 2 kids (Sims B and C) and a medical career. The Gen Goal, which sim does it apply to, Sim A (current adult/gen1 heir) or Sim B/C (child, gen2 heir). I am so confused haha.

For perfect careers, sim A also has to completely max whatever skills that career requires to advance (I think logic?), even if maxing out the career only requires like, 7 logic or something. This can be tedious if you rolled a career that requires a few points in a lot of different skills, but simple if you rolled a career that relies heavily on one skill.

Also for half-siblings, it means sim A must produce their two children with two different other sims.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my Mom's surgery was a great success and everything went very well. We won't know the results of the lymph nodes biopsy until Thursday though but the surgeon said surgically they looked good, no swelling or anything. Before I left the hospital she was walking around really well and seemed to be doing great. Thanks everyone for your kind words and positive thoughts. I greatly appreciated it. =] Hopefully this is it and there won't be a next time.

My current preference for my non-legacy sims is (a routing-error-fixed version of) Bridgeport with SHT lots added.

As for legacy, I'm still a sucker for Grey Meadow, or the creator's other town Fortress Rock. Grey Meadow in particular is technically classed as a suburb but looks and plays very much like an industrial city. Alternatively, Aspen Islands is HUGE (and therefore might have an entirely different set of problems for a legacy) but it has, if I recall correctly, no skyscraper lots, and therefore doesn't have the empty spaces in those buildings Cece was talking about.

I'm finding this single roll with 2 kids a huge challenge, I thought it wouldnt be hard, but NO ONE seems to either want to cheat on their spouse (to knock my sim up) or they are just not in to her.

Why are they so difficult, and once you get the mood going, they are either starving or exhausted and just bail on the very preggers deprived woman. Maybe she should just adopt.... <_<

I know I should be continuing on in SS for my last two generations (Mel would be Gen 9 if I stayed) but honestly the five same-day-siblings are driving me mad! Becky I have no idea HOW you managed that! Plus I sort of hate Briar and Aurora and I don't want to play them anymore ><.

It's your game. If it's not fun, it isn't a game, it's a chore. Just a matter of deciding when it stops being a challenge and starts being an annoyance.

As an aside, though, I do think it'd be very in-character for Melody to decide she wasn't putting up with that soap opera of a household anymore and she was going to go off on her own.

On another note, regarding family trees. Does anyone really look at these or are they mostly for the writer's benefit (to make sure you aren't inbreeding)?

I was just wondering because I wanted to ask for a preference regarding deceased Sims. I liked the idea of getting a shot of each ghost to put on the tree - but now I realize that ghosts are basically unrecognizable. Even having the shot of them as elders makes it hard to see what traits were passed down to the next generation. So I'm thinking of changing the picture of the deceased Sim back to a B&W photo of them at their YA/Adult stage. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Am I WAAAAAY overthinking this? (probably)

Well I love checking out family trees (thing is, people rarely update them. Myself included, but I will be updating my tree as much as I can this week since I have no classes between noon Wednesday and Friday morning).

Personally I take a photo as soon as they're aged to YA (or whenever I can find them around town if they're outside of the active family) and then leave the photos as is. I used to change the photo to B & W after death but I don't like it anymore. Its easier to see what features/colours got passed down if it remains in colour.

Since I don't have Sims of any crazy colors (at this point), I think I'll just do things as I've been doing (IE, updating throughout their life stages) but after death, I'll change it back to a B&W photo of them as a YA for gene comparison reasons. =)

I love checking family trees and am always sad when they're not up to date. The Keatt's tree is very informative, I have their Bios filled out with their favorites, skills, where they work or go to school and where they were born and everything, hehe. But no one's died so far, so I haven't had to worry about what I'm going to do then yet. Although one idea might be to, instead of greying them out, just desaturate the colors a bit so they're more faded, but still recognizable.

Also, Cece, count me in as another lazy bum who'll start reading your legacy again if you start over. xD It's nothing personal, I'm behind on most legacies. :P

I haven't been playing too much myself lately, but I have been putting some time into going through my CC and mods in preparation for installing Pets. Phoenix is halfway through the teen stage, so it will be happening soon! I'm excited! But yeah, I'm planning on cutting out a lot of my CC since it was kind of adding up and there is a bunch of stuff I never even use. Also going to be changing around the mods I use. I've decided to stop using Awesome, so I've been downloading replacements for the stuff it does that I liked. Thank god for Twallan, though, his stuff covers most of it. So it's turning into kind of an ordeal since I want to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible once I'm ready to make the transition to the new town, EP, mods and everything. ><

I was originally thinking Queenstown, but I changed my mind and now I'm planning on the updated version of Meadow Glen from My Sims Realty. It's a smaller world and has no CC and I've had pretty good experiences with their worlds for the most part, so it feels like the safer option. I haven't had any real problems with the larger worlds so far, but I haven't ever gotten very far in my legacies, either, so I figured that I shouldn't keep pushing my luck.

lol, yeah, that's basically the stuff I'm trying to cut out before I install Pets, especially since most objects won't be compatible and will have to be updated or replaced anyway with that EP.

If you don't mind them getting one or two, there's also somewhere (probably in that same section) that you can set a max number of pets (just as you can set max number of kids) for each household. Sorry, I don't remember off the top of my head. Too bad Twallan doesn't read this thread. heh

Bettas are freaking awesome. Everyone always thinks they're slow and sedate but if they're in a tank that's the right size for them they go nuts. Mine's so territorial he patrols back and forth in the tank daring me to add another fish. And when I go to feed him, he's learned to take food directly from tweezers if I hold it at the water line.

The one I just lost was a red crowntail. :( dawwwwh. I think they've gotten more popular all of a sudden, I never used to see them that much.

Bit of an optional tip: don't feed him one day a week, and then the next day instead of his normal diet give him a quarter of a blanched frozen pea, without the skin (just zap it in the microwave in a little bit of tank water until it goes soft). Might have to chop it up. It'll go straight through his system and helps keep him from getting constipated, which can kill him. So for instance, mine gets pellets M/W/F, freezedried worms T/TH as a treat, doesn't eat Saturday, and then gets 1/4 a pea on Sunday.

That is quite a diet! I would love to be able to do that, but my fish is on my desk at work. But, I do feed him 2-3 pellets in the morning and then 2-3 pellets when I leave and about 6 when I leave on Fridays, because he doesn't get fed again until I come in on Monday.

So far he seems to be doing ok, he certainly knows my schedule though, as soon as his tank light comes on, he's at the front waiting for his food! =)

I was watching my sim downstairs when all the sudden my camera moved upstairs and their was one sim just standing next to the couch in the the fire station and she was sparking and dying like a sim who had been electrocuted would then all the sudden the sim who was sitting next to her stopped playing his video game and also died of electrocution. Then I got two messages from story progression saying so and so died because they got electrocuted and something about how they should have left it to the professionals... I have a picture I'll spoiler it in case I decide to use it in my next chapter (I'm not planning on it right now but you never know ;)

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, but my boyfriend recently got accepted to come and live in my country. So we are preparing for his move over here, thus not much gaming time in between work and the preparations. Loving your updates! Much nekidness ;D

I'm hoping to have my "Around Town" page up soon. It's just taking forever to set up the town the way I like it, and I'm kind of going a bit overboard on the bios. Lol, it's going to be one long introduction, that's for sure. If you all don't want to read the whole thing (which I'll totally understand :)), I hope those of you with characters in my town will at least read the part about your Sim. I'm trying to give each one a unique personality and background, even if they don't make it into my actual legacy story. So far my town consists of fourteen families, but I may add a few townies here and there that won't have bios. That's only 29 residents total. Charlton doesn't have a lot of residential lots, so it's going to have to stay quite small. Maybe 50 Sims max. I'm getting there!

Buckley: Reading the about the founding families has been my favourite part in peoples' more recent legacies! Its just SO much fun! And I agree that smaller towns are better. I'll probably have between 25-35 in Morikipo when its up and running (So far I have 8 xD).

I will absolutely be reading the bits about mine if they make it in there! Very keen to see what you're going to do with them...

I might have to try doing some bios etc next time I move to a new town but I'm hoping to put that off til the next expansion pack come out (fingers crossed it is magic as the leaks suggest)

Oh and for who wants to know ;) I updated my downloadable sims page on my blog :) also updated the family tree....serious, Ryan's siblings are a bit wonky...well that includes uncle Lee! First Lee lives with Nagina Sabo, then after having two children with her she breaks up with him taking one child with her when moving out. Axel also has this elder lady he's involved with which is sort of an on off relation...then at some point when it's off he marries Nagina Sabo (his ex-aunt technically...) and thus becomes the stepfather of his cousins...all the wile Lee starts dating the elder lady Axel was with untill she dies on him...then Lee finally gets it on with the mother of the man that married Sirra so he technically becomes the step-father in law to his niece, whos brother is now the step-father of his children....

oh and no, I have not put the horse on it....I will probably not do that either :) but if those who said they wanted the horse still want him ;) then of course I can put up a link on here ;)
