Yuki was one of my favourites <3 But just be warned, she has got a VERY wide jaw. She's cute, but doesn't make the best breeding partner for legacy sims. I got lucky with Rainy.

I've got some pictures of the house I've been building for my legacy family next time they move. I've only built the structure of the house so far, it's built from a floor plan from a website someone linked earlier in this thread and it's supposed to be a country inn from around 1834. My plan is to furnish it as an inn to begin with and then take bits away and CASt everything so it looks like it has been abandoned for a while

I did it! I finished my first post for my legacy family! @Ali- All of my houses are inspired by, if not directly copied from, real world houses. I'm not an architect, and I prefer to use design elements from people who actually know what they are doing. Much easier, imo. :) Your house looks really neat. I eventually need to build a legacy house for my family. Not looking forward to it though. So. Much. Work.

@Kayla E- I just realized that I haven't uploaded Brian yet! Do you mind if I include his store content, or would you rather I package him without? Also, do you have all the eps? He might have some content from them, but I can easily swap it out for base game if you need me to. (Not that it matters too much, as I think the game just substitutes the content you don't have for base game items.) He will be CC free though, of course. :)

I have noticed a definite shift in the "culture" of the thread, even though I haven't been here forever.

Initially, the challenge was more about the rules and structure. It was to challenge ourselves to keep playing. As more and more people started blogging and creating stories with it, it became more of a "let's make stories" challenge, and more rolls (such as to family structure) and rules (such as the changes to single parent) were added, to give more flexibility.

basically, when i've had a baby, the baby becomes a script error and disappears, resetting the mother.
i have to reset the whole town to get the baby back.

I think it might have something to do with the game trying to process two women having a baby together without adopting but i'm not sure XD

I don't know, I didn't try any other saves. It's not that big a deal now that i have had the babies. I just need one more kid, i'm thinking of adopting. Can you only adopt if you roll mixed couple/single parent, or can you make the choice if you roll normal couple?

I'd always assumed that you could adopt if you wanted to but mixed couple made it mandatory, like you could have half-siblings whenever but the roll encouraged it.

You could also try instant baby? Since you're attempting to avoid a glitch wouldn't it be okay to skip pregnancy?

If I'm understanding the blogger help section correctly, it has to do with the fact that I type out my posts in Microsoft Word and then copy+paste them over into blogger. Apparently, Word is formatted in such a way that it adds a bunch of random code stuff that is hard to render properly in XML, and the fact that I use quotations a lot exacerbates the issue. Anyway, it basically means that Word is adding loads of additional code to the HTML, making the feed too big. Or something. I guess I can't use Word any longer. Bye, bye grammar check. *sigh*

But yeah, if anyone else is having a similar issue with their feed, make sure you're not using Word to type out your blog posts. I'm just annoyed that it took like, an hour and a half of searching to find the issue.

I've used copy + paste from word basically since chapter one of my Starr Legacy (over a year ago) so I think that word glitch is a rare thing.

I think I've learned a lesson here.

Either way, both kids have already been born in game (one is a teen, the other a child) so they wouldn't be starting directly out of CAS.

Since I already have the story for both potential heirs, do you think it would be fine to roll for children and maybe the misc fun and generational goal and then do full rolls for each subsequent generation? I don't want to be too cheaty. And I can use Gen 6 as my actual "starting" generation since that would be Brielyn or Camille's children and then go from there to generation 16.

I just don't think I can last 6 more generations and then start a new RL.

Yeah, I think I am going to do it. Still need to get my heirs figured out though! And perhaps find another new town. I really like the town I'm playing in but because there are 2 rabbit holes for almost everything, it appears the game chooses which the sim works in and it's usually the one on the opposite side of the world. I want Brookwoods to be done though!

Also, the glitch. Yes, have that happen ALL the time. Not only does it not switch names, it also doesn't switch traits, favorites, etc. I noticed it when I was doing my downloads for the Avendales. Put 8 people in a family but the 8th wouldn't let me choose someone from the bin so I left it a random one. Went in game, used MC to Edit in CAS and then realized later that the random sim retained their random stuff instead of whichever binned sim I chose. So I had to manually go back in CAS again and change everything by hand. Thankfully, I store that stuff on the family tree or else I wouldn't have remembered what it should have been.

I was actually kind of disappointed in the well. To be honest, I didn't watch the video all the way through so I haven't seen the animations. I was just expecting something like this (http://images.wikia.com/sims/images/4/44/WishingWell.jpg). It makes me sad that it is not what it looks like. Although, maybe that means we'll get a well in the future seasons ep that WILL look like that.

@charmedqueen- If you want sincere feedback before uploading, try the creator feedback forum (http://www.modthesims.info/fd.php?f=473) . That's where I always post my houses before uploading. In my experience, the people who give feedback there are nice, but honest (a good combination, imo). Be sure you check out the creator guidelines (found here (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=MTS2:Creator_Guidelines)) before you post, as we'll need to see some specific pictures to give you the best feedback. It looks really pretty, but I'd need to see more pictures in order to be more specific. :)

Buckley, I just wanted to say I absolutely love what Finn and Danielle have going on between them so far. :P As for the issues with Blogger, it's mostly just cosmetic, I suppose. I probably haven't fiddled with it enough to really get the hang of it (such as layouts, making little side bars of info [i.e. "current roll"], "start here," etc.), but I'm going to make an effort to fiddle with it. Right now. It'll be much more organized in the long run than a Simblr, that's for sure.

And I do agree, everyone here is so talented when it comes to their writing and their creativity! I've been an on and off player of Sims 3, usually having gotten bored with it after a little while, but the RLC killed two birds with one stone for me: providing a new take on playing S3, and providing an outlet for when I get the urge to write, heh. Having been a casual RPer (and then having the site I was on go down), it's nice to finally have something that can get my creative juices flowing again. :)

Thanks for checking everyone! I'm SO glad it's finally showing up. I did a word count on the HTML before I edited it, and it was over 32K words. Now that I've redone it, it's down to 2.5K. That appears to have been the issue.

Devan, I agree about the cosmetic crap. That was the hardest part for me, too. Here's what I do:

-I used the "simple" template with a custom color scheme and patterned background, just above the title, so the rest of the page is white. That's totally personal preference however. I just found it to be the easiest for me to work with.
-My layout is the second one (top row, middle) with the title at the top and the text to the left with the sidebar to the right.
-The widths were hard for me to figure out, but I eventually settled on 980px for the entire blog and 240px for the right sidebar. It sort of depends on how large you want to make your pictures however. Mine are almost always 634x396, or 33% of their original size.
-Under the "advanced" tab, I just played around with those options until I found something I could tolerate. It's not perfect, but it works. :)
-For the gadgets, I just use the plain "text" one for my rolls and introduction and such, but I also added a "followers" gadget and a "reading list". But that's totally up to you.

Let me know if you need any more help, or if that even makes sense at all. A lot of it involves just fiddling with it, as you mentioned. Good luck!

The Random Legacy is a different version of the original "Legacy" idea.

I'm not sure what the original legacy challenge entailed. The random legacy probably is a bit more complex, with the randomized parameters you get from rolling what each generation has to accomplish.

The Random Legacy challenge got rid of the point system, and took out a lot of the choice. Which is why its my favourite legacy style to play. Give three people the exact same roll and chances are they'll all go in very different directions.

Just out of curiosity, those of you who blog, how many screenshots do you end up taking? Have you developed a methodical system? I've taken so many screenshots, it's absolutely insane...I'm hoping once a plotline begins to develop that I can streamline the process, but right now I'm photographing almost everything the Sims do.

I take a shit ton of photographs too, but after I finish a generation I tell myself I will delete all the ones I didn't use. Hasn't happened yet, and (over the course of my several partly-finished legacies) I have collected several thousands of screenshots. I won't tell you all how many though, cause that would be embarrassing!

To give you an idea, for each chapter I usually end up with over a hundred pictures. Well over sometimes. But that's because I take multiple angles of each shot, to get just the right picture. :)

I'm working on my story contest entry today. IT'S SO HARD! Writing does NOT come naturally to me, especially when there are word limits.

Hjaxon: I tend to take about 20 photos for each chapter, but really it depends on the scenes I want to fit in to each chapter. In the early days I'd fit in every single photo I took to each chapter... now I tend to fit in about 20/30 photos. Since I'll take photos from numerous angles and WAY more photos than needed when characters are just talking.

Poses: Which ones were you curious about? The ones in that chapter were from (in chronological order): OhOh; IMHO; Elexis; Traelia; and Alidaen. The only ones that might be hard to find are Alidaen's. Here's the link (http://alidaen.blogspot.com/2012/05/pack-de-poses-pastel-pack.html).

Shirtless Top with Jeans: I used master controller. Switch them into their naked outfit, and then go into stylist mode. In the everyday category, the filter should be removed, allowing you to choose any top/bottom/outfit in the entire game. That's also a good way to access uniforms that you may need for a story without having to go through the motions of actually obtaining them via gameplay. I may or may not be guilty of using that method in my upcoming chapter for the contest. *cough*

Just be sure that after you've finished taking the pictures you go back into stylist mode and put them back in their proper naked outfit. Cause, really, who wants to see a Sim showering in their jeans? ;)

Oh, also, another way to do it is by altering the settings in MasterController. It should be somewhere under NRaas/MasterController/Settings/CAS/Remove Filter or something like that. I personally like to leave the filter on most of the time, so I'd recommend switching it back on once you're through. :)

I think I'm going to have to move worlds again. My save game is refusing to load. :( How long does it take your game to load? Not the introduction screen, but once you click on your legacy save. I'm not sure if I'm just being unreasonably impatient, but I have tried like three times now and each time the loading bar gets to the exact same point and then just hangs, music playing and everything. It normally takes my computer less than five minutes to load my game, but I've been leaving it for between 15 and 30 minutes with no progress.

Maybe I should try cleaning out my CC... *pouts*

One other question: Does anybody know of a mod that sufficiently kills the romantic reputation "feature"? It is driving me crazy, as my Sims keep randomly breaking up with each other because *gasp* they have more than one romantic interest (not boyfriend/girlfriend, but just plain romantic interest). For example, Finn got mad at Danielle because she was still "romantic" with her old high school boyfriend Calvin. And since he was a few days younger than Dani, she couldn't even "ask to be friends" until he aged to young adult. So irritating.

Does the same concept apply to non-single parent rolls? For Danielle's generation, I rolled half-siblings, and I really want to take her first baby daddy on vacation with her, for plot reasons. However, I just realized that you can't travel with people outside of the active household (despite rolling wishes to the contrary :wtf:). So, am I allowed to move in her first partner before the pregnancy, or not?

I'm getting more freezing issues than lag issues. This morning my game froze literally one second after loading. I tell myself I can get through it because I'm almost to generation 9.

I'm not sure on the rules but I don't see any reason not to, I ignored the rules and moved Liang in for a few days in order to get the appropriate pictures since I was only travelling in an alternate save

That's pretty much the problem I have on and off. What's helped me to a degree is shutting down any programs that are running in the background before I try to load the game. I've also cut down dramatically on my CC and as a result of the two I can usually get the game up and running but it still refuses to load sometimes. That's on my legacy save game - I've got another save game where I'm editing the lots on the world and building a house and that doesn't seem to have the same problem (yet)

I have the same issue as AJH. Like I said before, sometimes my game just won't load. I have to start it up and then play Sudoku for however long until it loads.

I bought myself a huge booklet of Sudoku puzzles.

It loaded finally, and it seems to be playing alright, with just the usual lag. Still, I may move them. Jericho is huge.

Have you guys condensed your CC into merged packages? o: Load times can get a little ridiculous if you don't, and I've found it goes from a black start up screen to loading faster now that I have significantly less package files than before. Not to mention the actual load into the saved game - it used to take around 15-20 minutes to load before I had the genius idea to google a solution, lol! Now it's only around 5-8 minutes, which isn't bad at all. I usually go cuddle/play with my kitten while it loads. :P

I've tried to condense my CC but I can't find a program that's mac compatible.

I usually play plants vs. zombies on my phone while I wait for my game to load. I'll get through at least a few levels (or half of the very last level).

What exactly has the glitch been? I've had a few problems with my sims aging up, but never had to replay something four times. But now I save once before the age up. Once after age up (but before styling). And then once more after the styling. Usually the game works if I slow it does that much.

I have, I've used CC Magic to do that.

Usually when my game won't load and I start task manager to close it down I find that it's "not responding" and the CPU is at 100%

I never actually get to his age-up. Once the game froze as soon as it loaded, with him and his mother still sleeping.

Then it froze once in the afternoon when I had Ceth on the phone to call the birthday guests.

Then it randomly froze while one of them was eating crepes. I'd just pressed pause, but the game never paused. It froze.

Then it randomly froze when I went to switch between sims, to monitor their needs.

I think I know the essential problem - my poor laptop just doesn't have enough processing power! Unfortunately I can't justify replacing it just yet

Becky: This may be a weird suggestion but if your game has been freezing at a certain in game time you should pause a half hour before and look around town. My save game lately have been hanging whenever an NPC is in labour. If I don't add her to my family than she'll hang the game permanently. But if I do add her in for the birth than my game proceeds as normal. It happens 90% of the time that an NPC is about to give birth.

I'm starting to consider that. Or everytime I get the "this couple is expecting!" pop up I'd terminate the pregnancy and give them an instant baby.

I honestly don't know why the loading screen keeps hanging forever, because it only happens intermittently. Sometimes it loads just fine and other time I will wait over half an hour before I ragequit.

On a sadder note, I just lost an entire gameplay session which included a house addition, the birth of three babies (including my heir), and various age ups. I'm really annoyed because one of the children had an interesting mutation hair color and I have a million screenshots that just aren't worth it. Sigh. Stupid laptop. I need to start saving every ten minutes. :-(

Oh, that sucks! I used to have that happen all. the. time. until I installed twallan's saver mod. You should try it if you don't have it already. It prompts you to save your game every half an hour (or however often you set it to). :)

My saving doesn't actually take that long. Which makes me think my computer is up to snuff when it comes to requirements, and it's all a game problem, which makes me both annoyed and happy...

Yeah, mine takes around 10 minutes or so for my legacy save. Then, just when it's finishing, it sends all my processes into non-responding mode so the whole computer seems to lock up for a minute or two. Quite irritating.

Of course, I could try playing in a smaller town instead of the huge one with a population of at least 120 sims.

Thanks Buckley, I may look into that. I haven't had crashing in awhile, so my computer lulled me into a false sense of security that it would behave. I was wrong...

My game usually takes about 2-3 minutes to save, so it's not as bad as it could be. Once the neighborhood expands, I've had saves that last about five minutes. Could be worse, I suppose.

Saving takes me anywhere from three minutes to ten, depending on how long I've been playing. :\ Which isn't really that bad, considering I usually have things to do between waiting for it to save/closing and putting my laptop into sleep mode.
