10) Freelance scientist/ chemistry addict: We don't know if it'll be possible to earn money with the chemistry set but it doesn't seem to me, from what I've read (see the link: http://www.edenstyle.it/expansion-packs/the-sims-3-generations-preview-part-9-chemistry-set.html ). But whatever the deal, by linking the 2 careers (scientist/ chemistry addict) we'll be able to have a sim with 2 jobs for the same career... By this way, scientist career will be less boring and we will be able to choose to use the telescope for the money, and the chemistry set for the fun

It's too soon to know what kind of things we could allow to do with the chemistry potions. I think they'll work like the rewards (bladder, age..)

So, I got kind of bored with the last generation of my legacy. I achieved all the goals and was just sort of playing through waiting for Rhys, the oldest of gen 11 to reach YA. But it's pretty boring.

So I went ahead and rolled for the first generation of my next legacy and was so excited about what I got that I couldn't wait to get started.
Gen 1: Single with Help, 4 kids. Primary career: Music/Rock, Secondary Career: Busker/band. Goal is Change of Scenery and the Misc. Fun is half-siblings.
It's going to be quite a challenge for generation 1.

lol me too, I've a lot of pains to end my legacy.. It's difficult to take care of the last generation because we know that everything will be soon over.. I try to play 30 minutes each 2 or 3 days, but it's boring.. But i'll take the time to finish just before Generation EP.. I'm going to read your first chapter ;)

I'm using kiwi tea's Riverblossom Hills.
The most challenging thing is there higher number of single men to single women, since I'm playing two single guys, it's been hard to find dates. Even after moving in some single women, master controller starts setting them up with the other single guys right away, lol. But it's a great neighborhood. There are a lot of empty lots I can add new houses to as the population grows.

I'm playing with Riverblossom Hills too :)

So I decided to play an old man for a change :) Since he's not going to be genetically related to my heir, I thought I would play around with a pre-made old man that I found amusing :) His name is Pierre Wispe, the first person in my Wispe Legacy.
I'll put up a few pictures as I get going, but right now Pierre hasn't met his future YA wife yet, who's name is Francis Coupe. She's from a small town in France and has a deer in the headlight look to her. She was abused by her ex-boyfriend Butch, who tragically died from being burned as soon as they got their new home. They had a toddler and a baby and I plan on having one (hopefully I "accidentally" have two, I want twins :P) more with Pierre and Francis. I am curious how the genetics will look between the two.

Vasquez = History, plenty of chapters, David's hot.

Starr = AWESOME story planned (and half in the making already) for generation 2. You guys will love it. (I hope)

Update for Moonstone Manor.

Coal grows into a toddler. I used MC to un-vampire him. I think it's ridiculous that hidden traits are always inherited. I still need one more child for this generation. Don't know yet if it will be Emerald or Jade's.

Emerald is promoted to assistant principal. Jade starts her fourth job hopper career, medical. The hospital sends her to Egypt for an opportunity. Some of the faces she made while she was there I thought were hilarious.

There are definitely hidden random mutation colors different from the available presets.

Nuts requested a few of my legacy Sims, so I'm uploading them here. Sorry, Nuts, but I don't have a clone of Oregon. I was sure I had her, but I somehow I missed her. All the others you requested are here.
In the zip are Alis Carlton, Talfryn Carlton, Carys Carlton, Bree Merrick and Cameron McDermott. All are saved as YAs. I stripped them of any store items or CC they were wearing.

I use default replacement skin and eyes, so if you use EA or a different default, they will look different in your game. Especially the eyes, as the ones I use are multicolored.

I have my facial sliders set to '2' on master controller. If you have the sliders set to something different and try to edit my Sims in CAS, they could get freaky.

Nuts, Oregon is very similar facially to Allyson McDermott, so if you just wanted the face genetics, I could zip her up for you. Also could add the Lilly Bo haircolor if you wanted.

How do you save a sim, Calisims? I've had a bug when I tried to save Penny in my legacy (it loaded indefinitely) so I didn't try again.. Is there another way to take from the the sims3 folders

Mimi, when I save sims, I take them into CAS or the stylist thing. By their picture at the bottom, click the "..." and then save to bin. The sim winds up in your SavedSims folder.

...Okay, I feel like an idiot. How do I attach files? xD

As per Cali's request, I'm going to upload Pavel, the bass cop. ;) Since it's late in the legacy and I removed dating restrictions on my town vampires, Arthur and Sifton have been spawning children left and right. Pavel has resisted. Perhaps he will have better luck in someone else's game. =P

If anyone else wants any of the freakshow genetics from my game, feel free to ask.

The update to my legacy is coming a bit slowly due to some distressing real life events, but it should be up within a few days.

Pavel is an adult rather than YA, but can be edited and re-saved or whatever. When I edit vanillas in CAS, sometimes I go into a different age group, select someone, and then change their age to match the sim I am editing over.

Pavel is wearing base game stuff, Late Night stuff, and WA stuff. I can change his clothing as per request. I have no idea where the hair comes from... I can change it if it gives you trouble, Cali.

ebec & Reya: Here is a zip with Paprika, Paz, Arthur and Sifton. I had to make a copy of my game and go in and rez Paprika and Paz with Ambrosia, since I had not saved them (don't worry, I was going to do that anyway because I wanted a copy of them as well). I tried to strip them of any non base game clothing, so depending on what you want to use them for, you might want to give the poor dears a new wardrobe. Lol. ;)

Paz and Paprika do have huge ears like Melody, so if you change their hair style, don't think CAS just played a joke on you. :giggler:

I found out about the automatic backup files for Sims 3 too, so I got my Koi-Koi family back, and my old random legacy (though I must remember what name the file is) that I managed to get to generation 3 :)

I just realized you don't need to resurrect sims to save them. I just took Jazz's ghost into stylist via MasterController, and saved to bin. The sim it saved was, of course, not a ghost. Much like Arthur and Pavel are not vampires when exported.

I think I'm giving up on the Vasquez Legacy. There are just too many glitches for me to deal with. Now when sims die, Grim never appears. In order to get rid of them, I have to force age them to the last ghost stage, which will just make them go poof since they never go into a gravestone or urn (since Grim never shows up!).

Emily died on me today and spent two days just waiting for Grim to show. So I reset her and now she's alive again. I don't want them to die if they don't come back as ghosts...

Actually that's the truth, sort of. She took the baby (Dante) and put him outside. Why? I don't know. He'd already messed his diaper before she took him out of the crib. I had just woken Foster up to take care of it, but she gets in there before he does, takes the baby and puts him outside. Foster follows, because he has 'change dirty diaper' in his queue.

I have two new proposals about the rules:

First one) I had originally thought about adding the future "daycare" profession among the Ambitions professions (section C3) but it seems that this new profession is perfect for partners (section D).. This career will have very low incomes, and only 5 levels. And as it's obvious in the rules that having a good profession is less important for partners, I think that our sim's husbands or wives could stay at home to take care of other sim's childrens.

So, this is my proposal

D. Secondary Income (Roll between 1 and 20)

20) Job Hopper - Must play a sequence of careers in order, playing each career until you reach level 5(careers or professions), or for a week in sim-time(part time and non-standard careers). Roll ten times for the different careers, and play them in the order you rolled them.
21) Babysitter- Must play the Generation career by taking care of your neighbour's kids

I think this career will be better in section D than in section C3 with Ambitions jobs, which are of different kind


Second proposal) I've rolled all my goals for my next legacy and I was much frustrated to discover that no ambitions careers or skills will be included in my legacy. So I thought about the possibility of adding a new option (in general rules). This new option would be of the same kind than the Joker and would be called "Expansion gift"

(so you start with one re-roll, if you then roll "The Joker" then you gain an additional re-roll for each joker you pick up.)
10. You're allowed to move in any other houses you want. So, your sims won't have to be stucked in the same house during all your legacy.
11. Expansion gift: you are allowed to change only one roll to introduce a new EP career or profession (to avoid players having to wait a long time before testing the new EP possibilities) For example: if you've rolled Farmer for your sim's partner in generation 2, you're allowed to change it and introduce the new career.. With Generations, your partner could be Babysitter (section D-21) or Chemistry addict (section C2-10) . You're allowed only one change per job. So, if the new EP introduces 5 careers, you're allowed to change 5 times.

Mimi, I think the daycare career for spouses is a great idea.
And the expansion gift is good too. Maybe we could also allow the option of rerolling if the you roll a career you already had in a previous generation. Optional of course, lol, I'm about to play generation 2 with same career as generation 1 in my legacy. I'm happy to do that because I like the rock'n'roll theme I have going, but I'd be not as happy if it were a career I found very dull to do it twice in a row.

Calisims, I know the problem for the repetitive careers. In my Shepard Legacy, I had at first 4 criminal careers and 2 military careers. Fortunately, I had rerolled the generations because of all the new rules that had been introduced, otherwise my legacy would have been boring

I've rolled for my next legacy and I have medical careers in generation 1, 2 and 3. Boring too.. So I am agree to be allowed to change it, but only if the 2 identical careers appear in 2 close generations. For example we would be allowed to reroll if we have a cooker in generation 1 and 2, but not with generation 1 and 3.. So it'll permit to keep a few limits which are needed for this kind of challenges

For the daycare profession, I've another idea, instead of placing it at the end of the careers list in the section D, I would prefer place it in a way that will increase the chance to have it in section D

So, it would be :

D. Secondary Income (Roll between 1 and 20)
1-2) Standard Career – Roll on chart C1 to determine which.
3-9) Non-Standard Career – Roll on chart C2 to determine which.

My legacy has not been going on so well.
- While playing another house the legacy starter's pregnant girlfriend, started an affair with a married man
- They got caught because they flirted openly in a party
- Legacy starter then kicked his un-official girlfriend out and she now lives across the street from him.
- Then legacy started got involved with a married townie woman, and when she moved in with him, I and Tobias, found out she has four kids, three toddlers and a child. So, Tobias is now the step-dad of 4 kids
- So basically I'm currently playing two households, Tobias and his miserable life, and then Jenni who's pregnant with the legacy heir. Because the heir is not blood related to Tobias, it's very unlikely that Tobias and the heir will have any contact later on
- I still decided to play Tobias according to the rules, so he's still in the education career, and I was suppose to keep with the tradition of holding a party every week, but then the children happened and Tobias had neither energy, money, time or space to hold a party.
- I'll probably raise these kids until they are YA and then move them out into one of the townie houses.

I haven't plaid the heir's household yet, but I did roll her random things

Career: Ambitions Job (She rolled fire-fighter, but I think I'll probably skip determining her job for now, as the generation goal for generation 1 was that the generation 2 heir should become a 5 star celebrity, so I thought I'll wait and see what traits she gets (I always hit random) and then try and choose a career that would make sense that you are a celebrity). Or, maybe I'll just skip executing the generation 1 generation rule, then I can put the child into the fire-fighter career and not make any effort for the career.

Generation goal:
Idle career - Idleness is your choice, so your sim won't make any effort in his/her career. Don't learn any skills nor read any books nor do any travels required for the career. If you reach the top of your career's level, it won't be because of your efforts, but only because it's just YOU. If you've rolled a C2-career, you are allowed to learn only 2 levels per week for the required skill (so maximise the skill during the child or teenage stages would be a good option). If you’ve rolled for the adventurer career, you’re only allowed 2 travels per week.

Misc:
3) Runs in the Family – Pick a trait randomly. Every sim born this generation(see the definition in “Random” above) must have this trait before reaching young adulthood.

I have to agree. Like mimi said, 6 out of 20 for a part-time job seems absurdly disproportionate.



As for my legacy, story progression was driving me insane with all the random, ugly sims in my neighborhood. I was literally stopping my gameplay every few minutes to give makeovers and/or figure out which household a sim belonged to and where they now lived. Then I noticed that about half the males in town had the exact same hairstyle :wtf:. Oh, and the lag. I guess a (almost five years old) computer isn't powerful enough to deal with story progression.

So now story progression is off and I downloaded a TS2 aging mod, saved my family to the bin and placed it in a copy of my non-legacy neighborhood. My legacy family will age normally, and I'll selectively age sims from the other households whenever I need to. I guess it'll get weird when some of my family's great-grandchildren are friends and/or marry a sim that used to be their great-grandparents best friend, but what the heck, at least my sanity will remain (more or less ;) ) intact.

The downside was that my family lost their friends and some rewards during the move, but MC will fix that.

I've another proposal (yes one again!!) I was thinking about the fact that marriages will be more fun with the next EP.. The next EP will add a lot of new and fun things for couples (more beautiful weddings, bachelor parties, midlife crisis..)

How will players assume when they will have to play with serial single parents during 9 or 10 generations??? A lot of frustation I think

So, I was wondering if there was a possibility for the single parent status to evolute in a more interesting way. I think that this challenge must evolute with every new EP particulary when they add a lot of new things in social life.

So here is my proposal: Single parent with kids could be allowed to marry. BUT the partner has to be away when the first baby is born. It could be a divorce, a death, a long trip in a foreign country, adultery (leaving the house to live with his mistress).. or whatever the player would imagine. If the partner come back it could be only if the heir is YA and the other kids have left the house.Of course, players would always have the choice to play with a single parent alone (without any partners , as it has been described until now)
Divorce will be more fun too as it's an option which will appear sometimes with midlife crisis. So why don't we use it for fun?

This evolution is a bit similar to "second chance", but with second chance, there is always a partner at home.. That will not be the case for single parent

The reason why I propose that, is because single parent is not so fun sometimes. I love weddings and as I've often single parents in my game, I haven't got a lot of opportunites to play with couples(Of course, I don't talk about my case only, and I would like to have your opinions about single parent's way of playing)
Moreover, I have troubles to find suitable stories for my single parents, and after a few times it's always the same thing (X has found a girl which is already married, they have a son, and she let down the baby)

With this new option for single parent to marry, we could have more fun stories. X is gone to live with his mistress, but has regrets a few years later and want to come back home, X don't want kids and prefer to live alone, X has left the house to live in a foreign country, X prefers to live with his mistress and so on ;)

I use Twallan's Decensor for no mosaic:

It works differently from other no mosaic mods: you get the mosaic very briefly, but it goes away almost immediately. The benefit is it works with every EP, it doesn't need updating.
By nude patch do you mean a mod that makes Sims stay nude instead of dressing right away? I don't use anything like that, but you can use master controller to create a nude outfit Sims won't realise is nude. Change master controller settings 'Disable Clothing Filter' then go to stylist for your Sims and there will be a nude top and bottom option in your outfit categories, so you can make a nude outfit your Sim can change into.

@Reya, the single parent idea is mimi's not mine. :D But I fully support it.

Everything that happened from the time Emerald brought Coal to his cake until the end of the chapter was all autonomous. And also most of what happened before that. Okay, for that I just use the decensor, and then when my Sims are relaxed on the bed, I use master controller>basic>outfit>naked on each Sim. If they are already engaged in activity like relaxing or cuddling on the bed, they won't change out of the nude outfit. If they are standing around idle, they will change back to their clothes.

Twallan's no-vanillas doesn't work on service sims, I am sad to report. I opened up a new 'hood with basically zero people. The first to appear were the paparazzi, who didn't get their own immigration notice, but were vanilla and began flirting with some original neighborhood sims. Finally someone actually immigrated in, named Trina Weaver-Goth.

Can someone explain to me how the mod created her?

I have none of the Goths saved (though yes the town was Sunset Valley, so did it just steal them?). Weaver is a family I made for LN, which still exists the Edit Town family selection thing for families to move in. But there are no Goths or Weavers in either the "SavedSims" or "Exports" folder. I thought I had to put individual sims in the Exports folder for Twallan's updated immigration settings to use. D=

Nuts and Calisims, maybe the no-vanilla option works only for NPC who live in your neighboroods. There is no issue to have maids or repairmen or paparazzi with vanilla faces because they cannot breed, even if they have romances with someone else. They don't live in the neighborood so they cannot reproduce

The only NPC who could cause vanilla issues are those who are moved in the neigborood to be cashiers at the consignement store, mixologists and bouncers because they live in the neighborood (the game move them in random houses). Same thing for the new cashiers when food or relics stores are added by the player (they live in the neighborood too). The difference is that these ones are able to breed because they live in houses, contrary to maids, butlers, repairmen, babysitters and so on

So maybe the twallan's no-vanilla option can be seen only on the NPC who lives in town. Check with bartenders or cashiers

For vehicle interior pictures, pause the game and then zoom in real close. Positioning the camera can be difficult in such small spaces, so you have to move around until you find the sweet spot. You can also hit the tab key to be able to zoom in closer, though for the bus picture I didn't need that.
Hit tab again to go back into regular mode when you are done shooting.

I had not read that about custom skins. Maybe it's because of the new body hair overlay in the ep.
I usually removed all CC when I install a new ep and play in a new neighborhood completely vanilla until mods are updated and any issues with CC are reported. But I hope I don't have to give up my custom skins forever, I hope creators find a way to make skins work with Generations!

We said that in any case (married or not), we don't have to roll for a second career (section D).. So it could mean that

1) the partner of a single parent mustn't be allowed to work.
2) the partner of a single parent must keep the job he has when we move him (her) in the household.. So if he's in the business career level 2, he'll stay in the same career but will be allowed to progress. I think it's an interesting option for careers, at least one thing that we won't have to roll
3) last option, we roll for section D for the partners

I'd want to have your opinions about the best option available..

I did look at him of course, and I have to say, the reason I <3 Pavel so much is he looks a lot like a Sim of mine from Sims 2, one who was particularly special to me. In CAS the resemblance is even greater.

There was no option to pick up the baby and carry it away from the fire. When Ashby arrived at the home where there was a fire and could suddenly see inside it, the game poofed the baby out on the lawn. Pretty lazy, EA.

@ebec, On your side bar, the generation rules are hard to read because the column is so thin. Personally, I would just list the title of the rule without the full description. Most of us use a online random number generator to roll the rules for each generation.
I use random.org

I just rolled for my first/starter sim. I got Mixed Couple, 2 Children, Inventor, Collecting, Perfect Careers and It's so YOU.
My questions are, do I have to make his spouse now or find one in game? Also, if I have to find her in game do I need to roll for her and change her career to what's been rolled? If I make her and roll her and hers are the opposite of the guys which do you choose?
I'm still skimming on my phone sorry I may have missed the answers. Always appreciate a reply (: I'm just creating my gen 1 sim.

ValoLetoLife, welcome to this challenge.. You can create the couple in the CAS or find a partner for your sim in town. In this last case, you've to change the partner's job and give him (or her) the job you've rolled.. Good luck!

Also, it is a first version so don't expect it to be amazing as it might contain some bugs that I haven't caught yet. Just let me know! :)

Back in the original challenge a player named lytefoot made a program to roll everything. But she's hasn't been around since before LN came out, so her program has not been updated. It would be very nice of you to share your program, but we do update the rules fairly often, which might make updating your program kind of a pain for you to maintain.

Mixed Couple - You must obtain a spouse or unmarried partner. In addition, you must produce at least one biological child and obtain one child via adoption. You may exceed the number of children rolled in section B in order to accomplish this (though to the minimum necessary).
A quick question regarding the mixed couple roll: can the heir have his biological child with a sim other than his spouse or partner? Or is it necessary for the couple to be the parents?

Even in the regular couple roll you can have your biological children with other Sims if you want, it doesn't have to be with the partner. As long as any heir is the child of an heir (or founder) and not the child of a partner with another Sim.

Hey Calisims, can you upload Corey and/or Gibson onto here? I need a busker for Kori's husband and there is literally ONE guy in town who isn't an adult or related to her.

No problem, Reya, here they are.
I stripped them of CC/Store content. They are wearing stuff from LN.
Gibson is saved as an Adult, so you'll need to changed him to YA. Unless you want Kori to have an old husband, lol.
Carey is YA.

The texture on this hair is not great, sadly, but they were my favorite male hairs from TS2, so I keep them and use them sometimes.

Personally, I just love Sunset Valley and Bridgeport. Never played with downloadable towns cause they're too glitchy for me. (That and I'm computer-illiterate).
