Normally it would update by itself, but when my friend got an update and i didnt i went to updates or whatever in the launcher and refreshed. Sure enough, it was there. As far as the patching went everything was smooth. I went in to my game and things were lagging HUGE and even just stood still for like 15 seconds. I read around the help section in the wiki and have tried things including the program that tracks how many times a file is accessed(everything looked normal). I really don't know what to do and want to get back to work on my legacy challenge. Thanks in advance!

It's most likely problem custom content- try this article:
Game Help:TS3 Finding Problem Custom Content
If that doesn't work, then please try this article:
Game Help:Sims 3 Game Problem
Please ensure you try all steps in each before reporting back. :)

It's not CC - I tried the 50% method and it lagged with absolutely no CC.
I deleted Cache files, it still lagged.
My computer can run it. I meet requirements.

Can you post your System Specs, just to be sure? Just meeting requirements often is not enough - even people with quite good computers often have crappy performance, simply because TS3 is sort of a laggy, resource-sucking pile.

Windows XP SP2
Processor: 2.93GHz
2.5 GB RAM
Video Card: GeForce 8400 GS (512 MB, Pixel Shader 3.0)
Plenty of free disc space.
Yes it is an older computer that has just been upgraded quite a bit. It's nearing the end of its life...
(we've been looking at new ones for boxing day sales and such) But if it was a performance issue, why would it start since the update? Anddd theres also the possibility my brother has messed something up with all the stupid crap he gets in to. :|

Your video card is very old and is not equipped to run games after 06-07.

I know, but it was running perfectly fine-with rather low settings- before the update.
Sorry about the double post, but it hink it was the save file. I went in to my older file and it was fine. So i deleted the messed one and am now re-erntering the game. Fingers crossed.
Bridgeport, that's the name. :P Yeah, I'm going to get a friend of mine to help me build a new comp.

You have not posted specs the way the guide asked you to. Please do so. You have more than enough RAM for XP, and upgrading to Windows 7 OS will only reduce your FPS but if that's a single core CPU then that would be the cause of your issues.

You don't know that, MdMaxx. You have no idea what model the CPU is, you don't know whether the RAM is DDR2 or 3, what socket the motherboard has, the strength of the PSU, the type of the optical drives...
