View Full Version : Building a Roof Over an Uneven Level

Sorry if I'm breaking any rules by posting this, but nothing I've looked up will answer this question: I need to know how to build a roof over an uneven level, if there is a possible way.

I created a nice stone railing for the entrance to my house with the "constrainfloorelevation" cheat, and I used the "moveobjects" cheat to put pillars inside them to hold the roof I would then put over it, but whenever I try it says that "level is uneven" or something alike. I tried creating a third level so that the roof would instead hover over the pillars but you wouldn't be able to notice the difference, and I put a floor down so that the roof would be able to stretch to the pillars, but somehow the floor merges with the second level. It's all so very stressful. :help:

Try to get rid of the pillars and the railing and everything. Level the ground. Level the floor. Place your roof. These roofs are kind of sensitive :heyhey: But once placed you can do anything you want below or above, cfe, use pillars, place windows, place stairs and so on.
I know this is kind of annoying, but it works. As for me I always try to place the roof on first before I do any other things.

Go up to the roof level and then try dragging the level tool over that area without CFE on. Sometimes this will flatten the roof area adequately for you to place the roof.

If that fails, perhaps you could post some pictures so we can see what you mean better- it would be a shame to have to delete your railings just to put the roof on.

The third level is even, but if I try to put tiles down on the third level near where the pillar is, the tile used to make the top of the stone railing will slope as though connected to the third level, even though its on the second.

Here, I've got an image if my description was a bit vague. Points out where each level is.

Try turning constrainfloorelevation true before placing the third level tiles. Then they shouldn't affect the other levels. Are you wanting just a flat roof on there?

No, I was putting floor down on the tiles so that they stretch a bit more and allow me to put the roof down over the pillars.

It doesn't matter, though. I deleted the railings and did as simsjeanie said, and ended up making a better roof than I was going to. Thanks anyway, simsample, and thank you simsjeanie for being the one to help me out.
