I think I've figured out a way to make really tall buildings that look like they have 25 stories, and I haven't seen anywhere on here that might have had something like this posted, so I've decided to make a thread on here. I don't know if you can make functional buildings with this yet (I have to test it some more), but if anyone's interested, or this is commonly known knowledge that I didn't know about, just let me know.

well if you'd like to give a hint at your method - in brief - it will be easier to say if we already knew about it?

It might be a little bit difficult to explain, as I've never done experimenting like this, but I will try my best. (let me know if it is not understandable at all.)
First, I enabled all the cheats I usually enable. testingcheatsenabled true; buydebug; and then i enabled/disabled restrictbuildbuyinbuildings on/off; and constrainfloorelevation false; After that I began to experiment. I raised a section of ground up to as high as it would go, and then I built walls on top of it (five stories). I then built walls on the normal, untouched ground (5 stories). I went to the third story, and was looking at the walls built on the raised ground. I went to to the terrain tools, and chose the level terrain tool. I dragged it across the top of the third level on the raised ground to the top of the third level on the normal ground and it raised it up to the height of the walls on the raised ground. I then removed the walls on the raised ground and leveled the raised ground. After that, I took the raise terrain tool, and raised the ground under the walls that were extended and their height stayed the same and got raised with the ground. I then took the wall tool, and built walls on the normal ground again (5 stories). I went to the third story, looked at the extremely high walls on the raised ground, and chose the level terrain tool again. I dragged it from the third story of the walls on raised ground to the third story on normal ground, and it got raised to the height of the walls on the raised ground, and the ground stayed the same. the bottom 2 levels of this should be usable, the middle 22 levels aren't usable by any stretch of the imagination as far as I know, and the top 3 levels should also be usable.
Note: I tried to see if I could make it go any higher by raising the ground under the walls on normal ground and it didn't work (the walls snapped to normal height.) If anyone understands this, and they know a way to make it look like it has more than 25 stories, let me know.

Ah yes, that particular method is known. Not sure how widely though...

Do you know if it is posted on modthesims at all as a tutorial or something? If you know if it's posted on here, or were ever it is posted (if it is posted anywhere) can you post a link to it?
Odd thing is, the desire to experiment like this and see if it would work, and if it would, see how many stories I could make, came to me one night when I was thinking rapidly before I fell asleep, and my plans on how I would do it were elaborated on while I was dreaming. This was around a couple of weeks ago, and yesterday is when I finally got to experimenting, and today was when I decided to post something on it.

There is a tutorial on how to get up to 25 levels. In oddly enough...the Build tutorials! ;) http://www.modthesims.info/article.php?t=360606

At the end of that tutorial, it does state that it is possible to make 25 stories, but it doesn't exactly state how. And all throughout the tutorial, none of it exactly compares to my method for getting higher (illusion) than the maximum aloud level. In my opinion, my method, even though I didn't explain completely clearly, would be easier to understand (if I refined it a lot more so the steps are more clear. I'm basing this off of the fact that I seen quite a few people asking if certain steps could be made more clear).

Well if your method is different some people may find it preferential and more to their taste. I think creating a tutorial for your method would not be a waste at all, it could prove to be really helpful.

I definitely think I might want to make a tutorial on it, but before I would make a tutorial on it, I want to do a little bit more experimentation. One of the things I would like to try, I would like to make a level one shape, the next level a different shape, the next level a different shape, and so on. What I'm going to try to do is, there will be the first floor, it will go up what looks like five levels, then I will make a different shape on the second level, and make it look like five, and so on. This isn't going to be the order of events, but this is the only way I can think of how to describe it until I actually try it, but theoretically, it is possible, I just have to figure out my plan of action.
Thank you for telling me that it might be preferential, and that it wouldn't be a waste to make a tutorial. I plan to make a few rough copies of my tutorial, with pictures I will take of the steps, and choose which one sounds best.
